A list of puns related to "Transport Infrastructure"
Always thought I could rely on public transport to get places and it would be better for the environment, but fuck has it become too shit recently.
Here's my morning on public transport.
Public transport is absolute doggy shit. I'm buying the smallest car I possibly can and only using it for long routes, but that's cause I don't want to waste three hours of my life every working day. AITA? What would you do?
I'm keen on applying for a position with Scotrail as this sector really interests me however i'd like to hear what it's like being a QS in this sector?
cheers
I don't like transperth at all, sorry. I know it's not the worst transport system ever but that doesn't mean it deserves to be shielded from criticism.
I hated going to school on it, because what should've been a 10 min car ride became an hour long transport journey.
But it's very clear from observation that urban sprawl planning is based around car infrastructure rather than public transport. In other words, the city isn't built for public transport at all and what exists is a measly attempt to try and accommodate PT around an incompatible city,
But I saw this video that piqued my interest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELy9fOX8vtc&ab_channel=PolyMatter. If you dont wan't to watch the full 10 min video the gist of it is pretty much that the Hong Kong transport system owns the land around their entire station and then leases the land out to businesses (mainly retail) to make a profit. Making it one of the few transport systems to actually make a profit.
My suggestion/question is, whats stopping Perth from doing something similar with their new stations? It seems like a great idea, and I would have to assume that many transport ministers around the country would be aware of Hong Kong's system and wonder why they haven't tried to implement it.
I can see easy accessibility to shops and work, creating so much business and easing the use of public transport.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm a student who is interested in urban planning. Something that bugs me the most in this country is cost-prohibitiveness in transportation. Why does a few miles of rail for metros/lrt cost like a billion dollars while just several hundred million for other countries? I read several articles but either they're too long or politically biased. From what I read, most of the budget for rail systems is spent on stations and beautification. Does that mean that less focus on aesthetics and more on practicality cuts costs? Give me a TLDR, thanks.
Edit: the country I'm in is the US
Biden's infrastructure bill, just passed has a line item for e-transport. The bill would provide $7.5 billion for zero- and low-emission buses and ferries, aiming to deliver thousands of electric school buses to districts across the country, according to the White House. Another $7.5 billion would go to building a nationwide network of plug-in electric vehicle chargers, according to the bill text. Post Office?
