Toyota Hilux Surf Puns

I ask because they are the same vehicle the only difference that I know is that the 4Runner was meant for everywhere else except the US

Does anyone know if lift kits from 4Runners can be installed on a 96 Hilux Surf ? I was looking tl purchase the Icon lift kit for the 4Runner and installing it on the Hilux.

I’ve seen some Hilux Surf’s for sale around the US but they seem to be cheaper than I would’ve imagined. Using auto trader specifically. Anyone know any reasoning behind the low sale price? Possible can’t register or insure because they are imported from Japan? If anyone owns one feel free to inform us of its pros and cons.

I was hoping this community could help me out! I found a listing for a '91 Hilux Surf, right hand side driver for sale for $8000. The current owner provided me with a repair shop listing of some things that require maintenance. A lot of it I know I can do myself (fluids, flushing, replacing belts, etc) but some things are a bit out of my wheelhouse.

I was wondering if you folks thing it is a fair price, and a good purchase?

Specs:

• 216k km/134k mi. Clean title plus all import docs.
• 2.0-liter inline-four with five-speed manual and 4WD.
• Right-hand drive
• electric windows/locks
• AC
• aftermarket stereo
• bull bar
• skid plate
• front disc brakes
• factory altimeter and inclinometers
• BFGoodrich AT K02 tires on 15? wheels
• Clear coat shows peeling and small chips
• Gray cloth interior with a hole in the drivers foot well carpet and seat upholstery.
• Minor carpet staining.
• The horn doesn't work and the fuel meter prematurely displays empty but the low fuel light does work.

Here are the things that need repair:

• Brake & Clutch Fluid System Flush
• differential fluid replacement
• front lower ball joints are worn
• rear aftermarket shocks (KYB) need to be replaced as they are leaking (maybe I can fix those without replacing?)
• Steering Gear Box (Leaking, RHD Part) -- this seems very pricey and need to look into why this is an issue, any help would be highly appreciated
• Clutch Disc & Pressure Plate (Starting to Slip)
