(ISO) Disney/Touchstone Pictures Movies

First off, I want to say thanks to this community as you guys have helped me in replacing my physical collection as I transition to an all digital collection. I've probably bought more than my budget allows on here, but I'm not done yet.

Below is a list of Disney movies I am searching for on digital. I understand that not all of these may be easily findable, but I am listing them nonetheless. So if anyone has these or has PSAs on where I could find them, please let me know. I am looking to pay between 5 to 10 dollars, as I think any higher, I might as well buy them full price on vudu or itunes where most are 15. Any help would be appreciated.

I prefer Vudu codes, unless the code will port from one service to Vudu, which I think all Disney codes do.

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Cinderella (animated)

Gone in 60 Seconds

Hunchback of Notre Dame 1 and 2

John Carter

Oliver and Company

Pete's Dragon (The original one from the 70s)

Pirates of the Caribbean 1-4

Sleeping Beauty

Tangled

Toy Story 3

Wall-E

Disney Touchstone Pictures's Options For The Future

I have been reading up on a lot of stuff regarding the Touchstone Pictures label for some time now, and it is interested me to hear that the brand might finally die off from Disney at the end of this year. They only have The Light Between The Oceans coming up with Dreamworks but that's it. The BFG was going to be released through that label, but then Disney joined in and changed it to a Disney release instead, and also uncredited Dreamworks from the project and replaced it with Amblin Entertainment.

So I though I would restart the topic. What should Disney do to Touchstone Pictures after this year? I do have one big idea.

Disney could talk to a foundering former major company known as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (who has been on life support ever since 2010's Hot Tub Time Machine, and have to release every movie they make with another major studio. Paramount, Warner Bros, Fox, and Sony has done this so far. Universal did one movie back in the past but not recently. Disney could give the Touchstone Picture label some use this way to release MGM movies.

There is though one flaw though with that deal. Say if the movie is a family movie? Like we all saw with The BFG, Disney swapped it from Touchstone to their label. Now I thought it was going to be the very first movie to have Disney and another major studio logo at the same time. Well, after further reading on the BFG, that isn't the case. I heard that it was for the trademark releases on the Dreamworks thing and Dreamworks Animation, correct me if I am wrong, that isn't the case. Disney makes Dreamworks uncredited, and uses Amblin Entertainment instead in the trailers as I stated already but will again. The guys at Spyglass Entertainment is currently involved at MGM, so somehow Disney might have MGM uncredited in their movies, and have Spyglass Entertainment represent them instead, same goes for United Artists if applies. It would be true for sure if Disney, MGM, and Lakeshore ever made a movie together lol.

What do you think on the one idea I thought of? Do you have suggestions for Touchstone Picture's future and what Disney can do to still support it? Let me know.

What was the difference between Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures?

Back in the 90's Disney had two imprints, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures, three if you count Miramax.

They started Touchstone in the mid 80's to release more "adult" movies, then in the 90's they started Hollywood Pictures. I can't tell any real difference between the two labels. Touchstone is still around, albeit making much less movies than before, Hollywood Pictures started making far less movies in the year 2000, stopped making movies after 2007 and folded in 2010. So what was the difference?

Conversely, I do know the difference between the two labels and Miramax. Miramax was purchased by Disney in 1993 and up until they sold it in 2010, was their independent film label.

[Animation] Pinocchio and The Emperor of the Night: How Filmation took on Disney and won only to lose everything. Also Space Cowboys, Ed Asner, and Wall Street Fraud!

(Hey before we get started I'd like to thank everyone who was so kind in their responses to my first post on NBC's 1991 line-up. This one I thought was going to be a simple story of a mockbuster but hoo-boy did I find a rabbit hole. Enjoy!)

With their use of rotoscope animation, painted backgrounds, and let's face it herky-jerky character movement, Filmation made cartoons that were instantly recognizable to Gen X-ers and older Millennials. The studio first made a name for itself in the 1960s with hit programs like β€œThe New Adventures of Superman'' and β€œThe Archie Show.” Over the course of the 70s the studio would continue to keep going with such shows as β€œStar Trek: The Animated Series,” β€œFat Albert & The Cosby Kids,” and β€œThe New Adventures of Flash Gordon.” They would also experiment in live action programming such as 1974's β€œShazam!” adaptation. During this time they would also produce theatrical movies 1974's β€œTreasure Island'' and 1974's β€œOliver Twist.”

However Filmation's greatest success came in the early 1980s with β€œHe-Man & The Masters of the Universe.” The show would run for 130 episodes which was twice the run of a typical syndicated cartoon from that time. Furthermore He-Man was a cultural phenomenon well beyond the toys and cartoons. The show would inspire comic books, a live stage tour a live stage tour, a girl-centric spin-off β€œShe-Ra,” a theatrical animated movie β€œSecret of the Sword,” and even a 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella. (A film whose rather troubled production could feed another thread...)

Yet seemingly at the peak of their power Filmation would begin a sudden and inescapable decline. One that perhaps wouldn't have happened without a suspiciously familiar puppet's pseudo-sequel. But before we talk about that we have to discuss Filmation and Mattel's failed follow-up to He-Man. β€œShe-Ra: The Princess of Power '' was never quite the franchise player her brother was in ratings or toy sales but still managed to run a respectable 93 episodes (again remember most syndicated shows ran for 65 episodes.) Filmation's Ghost Busters was such a failure I may have to make an entire thread about it alone. However it was a one-two punch for Filmation's downfall. Strangely enough both flops are tied to Chr

SavathΓ»n And The Song of Radiance. The Truth Beyond The Power We Wield.

So in this post I want to tackle the question every one has been asking. How will SavathΓ»n gain the Light? Theories abound and I’ve read many of them as well as put in a great deal of thought myself. This is my attempt at a coherent theory. As always, take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Now I had considered writing a post months ago essentially positing the idea that perhaps Mara knows a lot more than she is letting on. That perhaps SavathΓ»n gaining the Light was all… part of the plan. In following this train of thought however, I stumbled across a greater truth about SavathΓ»n. Even so, I think it’s worth touching on why I believe Mara knows far more than she let’s on.

Mara Sov is no fool

>β€œWhen there is too much Darkness in the universe, Light must cast it away. And when there is too much Light, Darkness must drown it out. This truth is our burden. This is what it is to be Awoken.
>
>I dream't of a friend I will come to have. She will tell me: A side should always be taken. Even if it’s the wrong side.”

These were the ominous last words Mara uttered in her court before departing. The Awoken understand Light and Darkness differently to the Guardians and are far less dogmatic when it comes to the morality of either paracausal force. No one understands this more than Mara.

These words stuck with me however and I began to wonder if we, the Guardians, may once again find ourselves all... part of the plan. Then during the recent Season of the Lost I heard something jarring.

Mara tells us that she made a bargain for the release of Osiris and that if freed from her worm SavathΓ»n will comply. While she acknowledges that SavathΓ»n’s betrayal is inevitable she also stated that without her worm, SavathΓ»n is vulnerable: unprotected by the security of her throne world. Mortal.

Now Mara often speaks in layered lies and this never sat right with me. Mara is many things but short-sighted is not one of them. In fact she has demonstrated clairvoyance in the past, most notably when instructing Brother Vance to tell Osiris to β€œplant the seed” years before Osiris even retrieved the seed that would one day become the tree of silver wings.

If SavathΓ»n, the queen of deceit is putting herself in a vu

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Which late great movie studio would you like to see back from the dead?

With the recent resurrection from Orion Pictures after their unfortunate demise back in 1999, this had me thinking, what other lost Hollywood production company deserves a new chance at life?

My choice would be RKO Pictures. Granted, they technically still exist as a tiny production studio, but they're more or less a shell of their former self. After all, this was the same company that produced groundbreaking classics like Citizen Kane, OG King Kong, and It's a Wonderful Life.

What I'd like to see is some auteur moviemaker buy RKO's assets from whoever currently owns them and establish an independent movie studio with the RKO name. While they would STILL be a fraction of what they were, RKO was the smallest of the Big Five even back in the Golden Years. (At least from what I've heard)

Which defunct movie company would YOU like to see revived? Let me know in the comments below.

A refresher on how the HBO deal works as some seem to have forgotten

The HBO and 20th Century Studios output deal (1987-2022) features films for 15 months, a little while after they are released theatrically, we call this pay 1, in november 2021 they made a deal where half the remaining titles are allowed to be on Disney+ at the same time as HBO

Then around 8 years later they go back for 15 months for "pay 2"

when this deal ends, any films released afterwards are unaffected, but the films released 2011-2022 will still go to HBO for Pay 1 and 2

There is also the Starz library deal, which affects films from 1930-2015, and these films will be on Starz for 15 months, this deal ends February 2025,

There is also the HBO Library deal, which sends films to HBO, HBO Max, and Cinemax, most films will be on one of the 3 for 15 months

There is also the Epix Library deal, which sends titles to Epix, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+, or YouTube for 1, 3, 6, 12, or 15 months, any 20th Century Studios titles on those services are due to the epix deal

Disney Deals

Disney and HBO Library deal, includes Walt Disney Pictures and Touchstone Pictures titles, began in 2009.

Disney and Starz Output deal (1994-2015), Includes Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. Marvel titles are non-exclusive, so they don't have to leave Disney+, Pay 3 (happens on some titles) is also non-exclusive

Disney and Netflix output deal (2016-2018), includes Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars pay 1 is over (final title left jan 2021) pay 2 begins around 2026, Walt Disney Pictures titles are exclusive, others are unknown

Disney and Epix Library deal, basically the same as the 20th century and epix deal, includes Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, and Hollywood Pictures titles.

What do you think would’ve happened if Disney released The Santa Clause under the Hollywood Pictures banner as originally planned?

For those who don’t know, Disney was originally going to release The Santa Clause under the Hollywood Pictures label (One of Disney’s two adult film labels alongside Touchstone Pictures). There was even an announcement teaser trailer which came out in the summer of 1994 which had both the Hollywood Pictures logo and the credit, β€œHollywood Pictures presents”. But after Disney saw how well the film was performing with children at test screenings, they decided to release it under the Disney banner. So with that being said, what do think would’ve happened if Disney released The Santa Clause under the Hollywood Pictures banner as originally planned?
