Just got a half moon soapstone for my classic III, and am trying to think if what to put on it first. Part of me is considering getting swordfish filets, but another part wants to keep it simple with a good cut of beef.
Do y'all gave any suggestions, hints or tips for first feasts on the soapstone?

The half-moon soapstone arrived for my classic KJ today and I plan on reverse searing a couple of steaks tomorrow.
I’ve heard these are quite fragile and understand I shouldn’t simply drop it into a 700 degree environment or pour cold water over it while it’s screaming hot. However, I wanted to check should I be seasoning it or anything prior to using it or is it really as simple as letting it heat up and dropping the steaks on?
Also, from a temperature perspective, from what I’ve read it seems they take a while to heat. My plan was to have it inside the KJ, which is set at 275F, for the duration of the steak coming up to temp and then once pulling the steak cranking the grill to 650-700F over the course of 10 minutes or so. Would that 10 minutes be enough to get the soapstone to where it needs to be or would it need to be held at that 650-700F temp for a period of time beyond the time It takes to get there, before it’s ready to sear?

I’m an animation artist who does some sculpting on the side for fun and recently found pictures of some painted figurines that were beautiful but I’m unsure of what kind of primer, paint and glaze is necessary for painting stone. I’m familiar with prepping canvas and illustration boards but soapstone seems like it could be tricky given how soft it is.
Any advice would be really appreciated. I know painting over the marbling of the stone is sacrilege but I’m trynna get down as the Egyptians did, OK?!
They’re going for 300 and the triple midnight is sold out. Others colors are 380. Does this look ok or is it too feminine, like is the color on it pink?
It is heavily implied that the small white sign soapstone should work when bosses have been slain, but they never show up. My friend and I fit the soul memory conditions and have the Name-engraved Ring equipped but it still won't show up. I haven't found anything anywhere and I'm starting to think the signs just don't show up at all anymore if you kill the boss.

I have tried everything. No matter what I can not use these soapstones or orbs of seemingly any kind. Always greyed out. I have been human. I have made sure I didnt have any effigy fire. Tried all over the place. Ive seen alot of posts with the same issue but havent seen any solutions. I started playing recently. I play offline a lot due to no internet. But am online now.
I did manage to randomly get one rat covenant gray phantom summoned in. Only 1 in hours.
Anyone know why this might be?
Also, do you need to be human to get gray phantoms in the rat area?
If you use a red sign soapstone there, it'll look like a white sign in the blizzard. Now, depending on the host, this may or may not work, however.

I'm amongst those that hopped on the cheap Joe Jr. train. I was planning on getting an ash basket and a soapstone. The caveat is that it looks like the branded Kamado Joe stone is sold out everywhere.
I'm amenable to a cheaper quality third party option, but I wanted to ask if any of you folks had any purchasing experience or advice as I begin my search. If anyone can point me to a product they're quite happy with, I'd appreciate it.
