When will we get another tier 10 torpedo boat for resources?
Itβs been a while. The last torpedo boat we got at tier 10 for a resource was Somers, which has since been removed. Since Somers was released, WG has added Druid, Vampire, Ragnar, Smaland, and Marceau since then, and is now adding Forrest Sherman, which are all gunboats. Hayate was released but is more of a hybrid and is also not very good. For someone like me, who really enjoys torpedo boats, this is frustrating. Is WG moving away from torpedo destroyers? Why havenβt we seen any?
Itβs not like they are unpopular. Shimakaze, Somers, and Gearing are all seen often in ranked and randoms. To me it feels like Wargaming is making a decision to move away from the torpedo boat style of play. Maybe they want more gunboats in battles. I donβt know.
I think it also also possible that it is of WGβs mindset that they want to introduce ships that play differently than other existing ships for resources. Therefore they do not have a concept for a torpedo boat that plays differently than what we already have.
Of course, this is all speculation. I would love to see a torpedo-focused British destroyer.
This concludes my thoughts.

How about an American DD torpedo boat line?
The Americans were top-notch for rapid fire in the early stages, but since the new factions and updates; it seems like they're being caught up to as far as reload times.
I just feel like the thing that distinguished the American DD's from the rest was their rapid fire guns and now it's gone. So, I believe it's time for a American torpedo boat line.
The addition of Gleaves was okay at best, but with the Americans, it's either great range and speed and a 15 minute reload time or TERRIBLE range and moderate speed with a 10 minute reload time.

Gearing as a torpedo boat?
I wanted a Benham but it seems my letter to Santa contained a typo or I misspelled Santaβs name. I got a Marblehead Lima. I also acquired a massive amount of XP on my Fletcher, I was grinding a campaign, and unlocked the Gearing (first tier 10) and its torpedo upgrade. I generally think of USN destroyers as gunboats, I have a captain Iβve trained up through the line but the Marblehead came with a 10-point captain, whom I have speced for guns and transferred to my Fletcher. The odds are strongly against me getting a Benham and it will be a while before I get to grinding the Shimakaze.
It looks like Benham and Gearing have similar concealment the Benham has more tubes and faster reload. The Gearing has an extra 6 km range, and good guns for backup. Is Gearing a viable torpedo boat or should I build around the guns?
