I'm a rising sophomore in a business program. I applied for business because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and it seemed practical, but now I immensely regret it. My (anecdotal) experience is that nobody in the b-school cares about academics at all, the general culture is a mismatch for me, and I just don't enjoy studying business. The business school is also a separate program from the College of Arts & Sciences so it's convoluted if not impossible to double major in something I feel more passionate about. Sounds obvious I should just change major, but there's a lot of catches to that. At this point I get about $8,000 a year in financial aid just for being a business major, which I would lose if I exited the business school. It's the difference between a full ride and five-figure loan debt for me. It's also objectively a pretty strong business school in terms of employment numbers and gives students access to things like paid internships. My mom for example is very much against me switching since I'd lose access to a lot of career services. I feel sort of damned if I do damned if I don't which just makes me feel more hopeless.
