A list of puns related to "Tiddler"
Guys I keep seeing posts about her on social media, did she finally hit the mainstream? I heard she was supposed to be an indie flop treasure for Secret Swifties after reputation and Lover went completely unnoticed by the public. Do you guys actually know who she is?
I've finally got around to installing a tiddlywiki on a server on my home network and absolutely loving it so far.
One habit I'm trying to get into is writing up a quick tiddler every time I learn or use a new linux command so I can wean myself off relying on google for when I need to remind myself of something.
I'd like to make a summary page which dynamically concatenates these tiddlers to function as a learning diary/system changes log.
edit: Being able to create a Tiddler containing just links to the other tiddlers would also be handy
My best guess would be to make a specific tag for the tiddlers I want to include, then write some sort of macro, but I'm not sure how to go about this. Thanks!
I wanted to find out from you fellow toddler moms if my kids behavior seemed appropriate, and if the structure & expectations of this group were maybe too high for this age group. I dont really know what is "normal" to expect.
I took my 20 month old to a toddler group at our local nature center for the first time. She has never been in a group of kids before (Im a SAHM and we don't do daycare) or in this classroom.
The class had mostly older toddlers who have been in the class before, so they seemed a little more docile. It started off with coloring a bird while the instructor talked for a few minutes, then over to pick out bird stuffed animals and sit quietly while the instructor read from a nature book about birds. My kiddo colored quietly for most of the lesson at first, but then wanted to get up and walk around while the others sat quietly listening. I kept having to pick her up & bring her back to the table & redirect to crayons--in all fairness, 5 minutes of talking about the parts of a bird was kinda boring me too. At the story circle, she picked out a bird and then tried offering an owl to another tot who was having trouble deciding what to pick (he kicked the owl out of her hand, but she didnt get upset, and we walked back to the table until everyone was ready to sit). She didn't want to sit still for the story (an informational book about birds--not really a kids book) and kept squirming and announcing things she saw in the room. The instructor said "if anyone needs to take a break you can step out" looking at us.. So we left the room to walk around for a few minutes. When we came back, everyone was getting binoculars and bird books to go in a scavenger hunt around the center. My kid was standing on one side of a little bridge going over a pond, telling me what she saw in the water, but another kid was trying to cross with their mom, who seemed impatient with us, so I picked up my kid and directed her to another sight (I heard the mom mumble a kind of sarcastic "yea thanks"). Next it was outside to watch the birds eating at the bird feeders. All the kids stood quietly on the porch or were held by moms, while my girl wanted to climb off the porch to pick up an acorn. Another kid tried to follow her off the porch (the ground was slightly muddy) and his mom said "is that a good decision??" and kinda gave me the stink eye for letting my kid try to lead him off into the grass. She wiped her hands on her pants and showed me her cool

I've added a "state" field to almost all my tiddlers, the state can be closed, opened, or archived.
It happened often that I have to edit a toddler only to change it from opened to archived. Would it be possible to change this field without actually editing the tiddler? Preferably by the use of something like a radio button or something.
Thanks!

Geert
Why does this just set the field "attended-input" literally? How do I get it set the field with the ViewWidget's output?

In this case the two tiddlers are two people. In my family history system there are two primary fields that drive a relationship: each person tiddler has a father and a mother field. Each of these fields reference another person tiddler.
I am curious what is the best way to write a macro or widget or something to determine the relationship when two tiddlers are provided?
Back in the 90βs I wrote a genealogical app that had a method to do this. Around 2010 I took that piece of code and converted it to JavaScript for use in a Drupal site.
In TW5 so far I have a tiddler template when given an individual it will return a list of ancestors and a generation number for each.
My initial thought was to modify this template to return this information in json. Not sure where Iβm to store this temporary json. I do this for both people Iβm trying to determine the relationship and supply that json to a JavaScript macro to determine and return the relationship.
Is this a proper approach? Could this all done in JavaScriptβ-skip the json step? Tell me there is a better way. :)
I want to list all urls in a tiddler, but I'm not sure how to do this. Is this possible? Can anyone help me?
I'm overhauling a catalogue-type TW atm, and I'm considering changing its tiddlers to a few transcluded sections each instead of a single large amount of text.
Some of its longer tiddlers (3k+ words) have become laggy when editing them - even with nothing else open, the sidebar closed, edit preview off, vanilla theme, etc. Slicing the text into multiple transclusions fixes that issue.
However, because I create the catalogue item-tiddlers via a template to keep them consistent, I want to check first: how will having ~300 tiddlers with 4-6 transclusions each affect the overall performance? Is it negligible overall, or will it be enough of an impact that I should limit this change to only the laggy tiddlers?
I assume that changing them all should have no significant impact under my normal use: a handful of tiddlers open in zoomin view, with generally nothing more complex than a few text-collapsing reveals each. But with hundreds of tiddlers to be edited, it's prohibitively time-consuming to "just try it"...so I'm hoping someone has some insight!
Hi, I'm new to tiddly, but I already love it. I use it to organize notes for my thesis and general unrelated tidbits that turn out to be tangentially related (the more you know).
I am runnign into a basic problem: I am Dutch and as such some literature I read is also Dutch, but words with the same meaning don't appear in the same Tiddler in English. For instance, "anger" and "woede" mean the same thing, but I cannot get them to link to one single tiddler (called Anger) with an overview. Is there a way to link instances of different words to the same Tiddler?
Newbie here, I've created a basic tiddler that I'd like to share with others. I thought would be a simple matter of uploading the html file and sharing a public link to it, but apparently not. I tried it on Dropbox but it does not display correctly, only showing a list of entries on the left hand side. Any suggestions?
Hello all, I found in this sub a method suggested to be able to list all tiddlers mentioned in a tiddler, it went like this:
<<list-links "[title{!!title}get[text]split[ ]is[tiddler]]">>
However, the lone split parameter only operates on a white space, and therefore, if a mentioned tiddler name ends with punctuation, it is not correctly detected. I tried to come up with a splitregex parameter to catch all punctuation, but failed to solve this. Does anyone know how to write the correct split or splitregex parameter chain to allow this? Catching all punctuation, white spaces, carriage returns... Or maybe another method to list all outgoing links?
Another hurdle is that I use the Freelinks plugins, and would like to use the aforementioned method, since other methods I tried only list actual links (with square brackets), but not the "soft links" created by Freelinks. Thank you for any help.
After clicking the button, this happens - many new entries "undefined <<currentTiddler>>" are created with the word "show".

This should unfold the entries, but that doesn't happen.

But it doesn't work.

I'm new to TiddlyWiki and having some troubles with the following situation:
I have a Tiddler called: ImageInfos Template. In the fields of this template is a field called image-references that references to another Tiddler
Then I have Tiddlers that comply to a ImageReferences Template. In the fields of those ImageReferences are different types of URLs that link to local and remote locations of the image.
Now I want to use one of those URLs and concatenate it with something in the ImageInfos Template. This works for specific references, but there is something syntactically/type-wise wrong, when I try to address the URL field of a Tiddler from my image-references field.
It works for: {{Torso Muscle References 01!!remoteURL}}
How do I get something along the lines of: {{!! image-references!!remoteURL}}?
Is this even the correct approach or do I have to switch somehow the currentTiddler variable to the Tiddler linked in !!image-references instead? If that's the case, how do I do this?
Thanks in advance :)
Hi there. I'm using TiddlyDesktop to view my TiddlyWiki, and I have the ZoomIn view active, which means I only see one tiddler at a time.
My problem is, when the tiddler is long enough a scrollbar will appear, but if it's too short then there's no scrollbar.
When I click between my tiddlers, the scrollbar will disappear and reappear, depending on which tiddler I have open. This shifts the entire screen, which gives me migraines if I'm flipping between tiddlers.
Is there any way to have the scrollbar just remain open the whole time, or not shift the screen over when it's active?
My poor aching head would much appreciate any advice haha. Thanks in advance!
One of my biggest concerns with TiddyWiki was around size.If I use it to start taking all my notes (as I've done), won't it start slowing down eventually? Am I free to write and copy-paste as much text as I want, or do I have to be conscious about how much I put in there?
So I generated 3000 tiddlers, each with 1000 words of content, and around 30 different tags assigned at random. I loaded it into my browser (chrome) on my computer (2.5gz dual core, 8gb ram). I'm using the nodejs server version, but no lazyload optimizations. I kept all my other tabs and programs open, the way I would use it normally.
And... it worked fine!
A few notes:
EDIT: Editing some of the existing tiddlers ends up being slow as well, but creation of new tiddlers is reasonable.
I'm relatively new to TiddlyWiki, and I have seen examples of inserting a template section before or after using the list-before or list-after field. However what I do not know how to do is to main body of the tiddler with a custom template generated body. Is this even possible? And if its possible, I would appreciate any pointers as to how I can do this. Thank you!
Hi all,
I recently added Stroll to a tiddlywiki of mine, and I really like it -- however, after a little while I noticed that links to missing tiddlers are no longer italic. Now they look just like links to real tiddlers. That sucks, since it means I can't tell at a glance whether a link is real or needs to be filled in.
I found this post on this subreddit, and tried to use a similar trick to make the missing links italic again. I was able to get them to be red, like the example, but I wasn't able to make them italic. Here's the body of my attempt:
a.tc-tiddlylink-missing {
color: red;
font-style: italic;
}
a.tc-tiddlylink-missing:hover {
text-decoration: line-through underline red;
font-style: italic;
}
This makes the missing links red, but doesn't make them italic.
Note that the strike-thru of the original example also doesn't work:
a.tc-tiddlylink-missing {
color: red;
text-decoration: line-through red;
}
a.tc-tiddlylink-missing:hover {
text-decoration: line-through underline red;
}
When I use that, it again makes things red, but doesn't implement the other intended effect (in this case the strikethru).
My guess is, I'm actively fighting some formatting code from Stroll, which is why it's not working. So it would probably be better to remove the offending thing from Stroll rather than fight it?
Any help would be appreciated! I just want my italics back...
Is it possible to set a default value for the content type field when creating a new Tiddler? I'd like my Tiddlers to default to text/plain.
Alternatively, is there a way to change the default rendering of Tiddlers such that line breaks are actually rendered? I don't like having to put two line breaks just to get one to show up in the result.
Thanks!
I'm new to TiddlyWiki and I'm super impressed with its ease of use.
I was wondering if it was possible to disable the fading/zooming/translating animation that is applied to tiddlers as the user goes from one tiddler to another.
Ideally, the tiddler I'm clicking on would just instantly appear without the transition animation.
Anybody know of a setting or plugin I could use to change this?
Thanks!
Is that possible with TiddlyWiki5 out of the box? Or is there a plugin for that?
Hi there. I'm an incredible noob at tiddlywiki. But I started using it recently and am happily building a wiki for my homebrew tabletop rpg.
For whatever reason, I can't delete tiddlers. I mean, they go away when I use the delete, but when I completely close the wiki and reopen it, those tiddlers are still there.
All my other changes stick when I close/reopen. I've tried just deleting the text of the tiddler, and that sticks. I also tried combining that with renaming the tiddler, figuring I could just make a new article. But then when I reopen I have a tiddler with the old name and a tiddler with the new name.
Again, I'm totally a noob. I don't know what other information I need to provide for someone to be able to help. Googling didn't give me any workable solutions.
Hello !
I am struggling to design a button that opens all the existing tiddlers.
My use case is that I have a lot of notes in my TW that I want to study before an exam so I would like to open all tiddlers and close them one by one as I review them.
Thank you for your help !
Hiya, I'm new and trying to build my first tiddlywiki (for an RPG). What I'd like to do is import a bunch of tiddlers from some prexisting files I've got. I'm happy to transform my data into a CSV, XML, spreadsheet or whatever that works.
Using the basic "import" tool just adds the document as its own tiddler (rather than a bunch of individual tiddlers). I've tried using the XSLX plugin but it doesn't seem to be working for me (I get an error "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'getTiddlerText' of undefined close").
Is there a straightforward way to do this?
Thanks!!!!
Hi everyone, new to tiddlywiki5 and following a tutorial video on how to set-up a table of contents. The body of the Contents tiddler is:
<div class="tc-table-of-contents">
<<toc-selective-expandable 'Contents' sort[title]>>
</div>
This works really well for the most part with the exception being Journal tiddlers. The $:/config/NewJournal/Tags tiddler is listed in the toc along with my actual Journal entries and I would rather that it not be. I've searched around for an answer but any filters I try to apply just result in an error message or no output.
Removing the Journal tag from $:/config/NewJournal/Tags breaks the new Journal Button, and setting the toc-link field to no just removes the hyperlink it doesn't take the tiddler out of the toc.
Is there any way to filter the toc to exclude $:/config/NewJournal/Tags?
Thanks.

I start using TiddlyWiki a few days ago. I found it MARVELOUS to use by now.
Sorry for my lack of CSS knowledge, but how can I change the height of the default text editor? I read the official TiddlyWiki site but did not find what I am looking for. I try to open a Dev tool on my browser but don't know how to change it.
Hope there is an easy solution. Thanks!
Hi guys, Iβm a newbie Tiddly user, I started using it a couple of days ago and Iβm loving it. I have one problem though, I canβt seem to find a nice way of adding sources to my tiddlers. Being a program that revolves around the concept of a personal wiki, I figured that adding sources to what we put inside it should be a pretty basic functionality, but I havenβt been able to find something that isnβt just pasting the links of my references at the end of the page.
So do you guys have some tips to do this, or maybe some plugins to recommend?
Although micro caps are trading at a significant discount to the wider small cap universe, 16% of UK professional investors expect this to increase over the next 12 months
It is becoming harder to identify βhidden gemsβ among micro cap stocks, according to a survey of wealth managers, fund managers and other institutional investors.
Six out of ten of those surveyed said it was harder to find hidden gems among the smallest listed companies due to shrinking coverage from brokers.
In recent years, the level of coverage of the micro-cap market by brokers and research houses has fallen, and 22% of professional investors in the UK expect this trend to continue over the next 12 months, while 16% anticipate this situation could improve.
As a result of micro-cap stocks receiving less attention from brokers and analysts, 35% of professional investors in the UK expect the cost of obtaining information on the sector to increase over the next three years, and just 28% expect this to fall.
Although micro caps are trading at a significant discount to the wider small cap universe, 16% of UK professional investors expect this to increase over the next 12 months.
The survey, of 45 professional investors based in the UK who collectively manage $140bn in assets under management, was commissioned by MBH Corporation PLC (FRA:M8H, OTCMKTS: MBHCF), the diversified investment holding company, which acquires well-established micro-cap and small sized enterprises across multiple geographies and sectors.
Callum Laing, CEO of MBH, said: βSince the Coronavirus crisis started, some of the best performing individual stocks around the world have been micro caps. However, given the limited level of coverage many of these receive from brokers and analysts, most investors wonβt have heard of many of these companies.
βOur research suggests that the level of coverage of micro-caps could fall further, and this will make it even harder for investors to identify βhidden gemsβ in the sector.β
Is there a method to link to a section of text within the same tiddler, like how you would for a section of a fandom wiki page?

Hello,
I'm a beginning TiddlyWiki user. I would like to customize the view of my tiddlers a bit. Specifically, if a url
field is set, I'd like to render that by default for all Tiddlers (currently it shows up only in the Info view).
I searched but can't find how to do this. Any hints?
Hi,
After few months of working with tiddly wiki I found out, that there are few categories, where I create tiddlers so frequently, that it makes it hard to come up with unique name. That's why I decided to create few prefixes for them and compose name for every new tiddler with prefix + next number. For example:
Every "note" tiddler has name like: nt0001, nt0002 etc...
I would like to create button for certain nodes that will create new "note" tiddler with the next available name due to pattern and tag of the parent tiddler, where this button was pressed, so for example:
I have tiddler called 20-09-2020 with button named "create new note here" and when I press this button it will create new tiddler called "nt0003" with tag "20-09-2020"
I hope this is clear and someone will be eager to help. Cheers! :)
I'm trying to craft a tiddler that does the following:
I'm running into a problem where I can't figure out how to generate a temporary $:/state/
tiddler to correspond to my show/hide button that will operate on only a single list member. Currently, clicking any one of my show/hide buttons triggers ALL the show/hide buttons simultaneously.
<$list filter="[tag[PLACEHOLDER]]">
<$link><h2><b><<currentTiddler>></b></h2></$link>
<$reveal type="nomatch" state="$:/state/{{!!title}}-reveal" text="show">
<$button set="$:/state/{{!!title}}-reveal" setTo="show">Show</$button>
</$reveal>
<$reveal type="match" state="$:/state/{{!!title}}-reveal" text="show">
<$button set="$:/state/{{!!title}}-reveal" setTo="hide">Hide</$button>
{{||$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/body}}
</$reveal>
</$list>
The issue lies [pretty sure, anyways] within: state="$:/state/{{!!title}}-reveal"
, because {{!!title}}
references the title of the Tiddler the list is being generated within instead of each List member.
Can someone help me figure out what I need to do differently here?
So it is time for my 6 month review. Is there a simple way to open all of my Tiddlers tagged Journal? How about all tiddlers with a couple of tags?
It occurred to me to use the plugin Stroll, and then do a list of my wanted tiddlers and turn on "full text" on the references. But was trying to avoid installing many pluggins for now.
Thank you in advance! πββοΈ
TL;DR - Is there a way to use a dropdown menu to apply a tag to a tiddler from within the list widget. e.g. use a list filter to enumerate some tiddlers with a dropdown next to each where you can assign a specific tag (priority 1, priority 2, etc...)?
Background:
One primary purpose for my TW is to keep track of tasks. I prioritize them via tags (priority 1, 2, etc), and track completed or deprecated tasks. When bulk adding tasks, I use an edit-text field and "add" button to create them, and then a list filter to enumerate:
<$list filter="[tag[tasks]!tag[COMPLETED]!tag[DEPRECATED]sort[created]]">
<$checkbox tag="COMPLETED"/> | <$checkbox tag="PRIORITY-ONE"/> | <$checkbox tag="PRIORITY-TWO"/> | <$checkbox tag="PRIORITY-THREE"/> | <$checkbox tag="DEPRECATED"/> <$link to={{!!title}}><$view field="title"/></$link>
</$list>
This puts checkboxes next to each of the tasks that I can quickly click and assign priorities, which is... okay.
I'm wondering if I could get the same functionality out of a dropdown menu next to each task link instead.
I know the "_canonical_uri" field can be used to embed and display an external html file in a tiddler.
However the external html is embedded as an iframe with the sandbox tag. This means scripts in the external html file won't run.
Is there a way to remove that sandbox tag?
Hi!
Been using Tiddly wiki everyday for journaling and my art practice.
I add a lot of images. I keep them in folders to keep the size small. I use the code bellow A LOT!
[img width=300 class="tc-image" [./my_images/train_riders6.jpg]]
I usually open a tiddler that has it, copy and paste it.
I was wondering. Is there a way to add a button to TiddlyWiki that just adds this on the Tiddler? Wherever the cursor is or on the bottom?
Thank you!
