A list of puns related to "Television Program"
I was listening to holiday music just now and heard Walking In The Air. Google tells me this is a song from a film titled The Snowman which is, apparently, a British holiday film. One I've never seen (but intend to this year).
My wife and I have become fans of some British television over the past few years. We have a subscription to Britbox. When I searched 'Christmas' only a few selections returned. I was very disappointed in this. Every year, there are a number of movies and TV specials that are shown here in the US and I try to watch certain ones as I've done so for years and years. (e.g., Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the Garfield Christmas special... and films like Home Alone, Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story).
Is this also a thing over there? If so, what do you just have to watch for it to feel like Christmas?
For the life of me I cannot find this episode, or what show it's even from, anywhere and I've been wondering about it for ages. I know it's from an episodic style tv show like Crypt or Darkside but the tone fits closer to Darkside's stories - less comedic irony in the 'moral'. I must've watched this somewhere around 15 years ago but the program was felt like a rerun of something older than from 2006, possibly even as far back as the 80's since Tales from the Darkside started running in the early 80's.
Buckle up my dudes this is a wild story and I'll do my best to describe what I remember:
In the episode a young woman rents a room in a multilevel home to escape her abusive ex boyfriend, I want to say she's somewhere in her late 20's. The owner of the home is some kind of scientist or doctor, older than the woman renting a room but not terribly so- maybe late 30's, who uses human remains to grow/develop plants for some kind of science-y blah blah blah to make humans immortal(?). I recall he used the top floor to do experiments and there was a greenhouse on the roof.
Also in the home is a stern somewhat older woman closer in age to the scientist/doctor guy, she isn't particularly old or anything but I recall her being dressed like a Victorian schoolmarm so she appears much more severe. She acts as an assistant to the doctor and he is unaware this woman is very obviously super in love with him - he see's her as a friend and confidant but he's also a hot doctor so of course she's down to clown.
Predictably the young woman's ex finds where she has moved to and breaks in to find her, they fight on the stairs with the ex attempting to kill her but (also predictably) the doctor saves her and the abusive ex dies in the process. I can't remember how he died but doctor science man uses his corpse in his experiments to make...corpse plants? I guess? In any case the young woman thinks that's real neato because it starts up their friendship. Even more predictably they fall in love and definitely Do The Do in the rooftop greenhouse, which the schoolmarm lady witnesses and is Big Pissed. Bummer for her, I guess.
The episode ends with schoolmarm lady accidentally killing doctor guy when she went after the ~New GF~ in a jealous rage and seriously wounds her. BUT WAIT! THERES A TWIST! GF is pregnant with doctor guy's baby! Since schoolmarm lady was so super duper in love with him she can't bring herself to go through with killing the GF bc this baby is now the last

Has anyone else ever pondered the wording of βtelevision programmingβ? It used to be a common phrase, not as much anymore. Programming something is changing it to suit your needs/wants. We program many things to do what we want.
We ourselves are programmed by many things. I think of this quite frequently, itβs not all bad, but a lot of it is trickery. Food for thought. They know what they are doing, itβs a proven science of psychology to gain your attention and dollars.
Reality seems to be about deception, create your own roadshow.
Imagine you just came up with an idea for a TV program like mythbusters, how would you go from idea to television program? Which Reddit should I use to look for that kind of advice?
