A list of puns related to "Cable Television"
Poker is dead. How is the main event not on TV anymore I can't believe they sold out like that.
so many networks turning into full blown rerun channels and putting little effort into maintaining it....makes me think of how long adultswim's been around and it's crazy how rather than going down that path of "Auto-Pilot Mode"
they still try to present a wacky quirky late night block with new content coming in when it's available and toonami airing every saturday night to fill in that hole for anime fans
Hello - I'm the new programming director for a community media org that handles the cable access channels for local subscribers. I'm on the hunt for additional sources of good content for padding out our schedule while we work on cranking out more local productions.
Currently we use Telvue Media Exchange and PEGMedia, which are decent databases for our needs, though somewhat patchy in terms of regularly updating shows, and have a limited range of topical and genre coverage.
I'm wondering if any of you can point me to similar resources for community broadcasters like us - either individual shows or channels or other media libraries like the above. Ideally we're looking for either license-free or by-permission programming that wouldn't require a syndication fee, but if there are other content libraries that have fees attached, I can look at our budget and see if it makes sense.
In terms of what we're looking for, literally any format or focus is welcome, as we have three channels that pretty much run the gamut in terms of what we can cast. Individual shows or stations like ours that allow rebroadcasting would be ideal, as would university or public institutions that allow their programming for use (apparently the University of California does this, I'm investigating further). Anything with a Creative Commons license is probably fair game as well. Also we are looking for movies and documentaries that are available under fair use or similar provisions.
Thanks in advance. I'm pretty new to this job and this particular field, so I'm learning as I go and may be missing something(s) obvious.
Honestly, I'm just not into binge watching whole series in an afternoon, or even a week. I don't like having everything at the click of a button. I actually like having to look at the TV Guide to find out what's on, or scout out on the guide channel on satellite TV. I like randomly finding something cool while channel surfing, and I also like having the excitement of having to wait to watch something I really want to. And as odd as it is to say, I like the slight disappointment if I miss a show or movie, or end up halfway through it. It's a unique experience for yourself.
Also, when it comes to cable television, again, as odd as ot may be to others, I like the edited movies. I like the amusing dubbing over of swears, some of which can make the movie funnier than it was originally out of the sheer absurdity of the random inserts they use. And I also honestly like the commercials. I like especially seeing the ones for businesses in the local area, finding restaurants I wouldn't have known about before or knowing about discounts at bowling alleys or our local casino.
I still use an antenna to get free cable, now with a digital converter box so it'll play on my old boxy tube television set. The only thing I honestly miss is that TV stations don't sign off for the night with the flag and national anthem before falling into static.
And honestly, I'll stick with that setup as long as cable TV exists, or get satellite TV if I have to. No matter what, though, I'll never get any streaming services.
What about nude painting scene in Titanic (1997)? Does HBO edit the scene?
Content producers and consumers no longer need third party cable. You can go directly to their service online and watch their content. There's no need for cable any longer. I wouldn't be surprised if all streaming service providers just forced ads regardless of subscription so big companies can abandon cable tv too. Regardless the era of long advertisment breaks is over. They get roughly 30 seconds during commercial break of streaming services instead of 4 minutes from cable. That's 1/8 of what it used to be. (That's also subject to change because advertisers) So why pay for cable which is 65 plus dollars a month without internet, when you can pay 20 for Netflix? You can also watch what you want when you want as opposed to waiting. Probably the best thing is the freedom of choice. many cities and areas are locked in with one shitty cable provider so your forced to get what they provide and have no others options so they can charge ludacris prices and it's either take it or leave it.(Sadly true for internet too) Now the streaming services must compete and keep prices low for the consumer. There is literally no reason for the consumer to chose cable over streaming services. Cutting out the middle man saves time (ads), money (cheaper), and is overall a more enjoyable consumer friendly experience.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I live in Canada and just moved out from home and donβt own cable television. How does anyone watch SNL live on air without cable? Is there a streaming site that is good for it every week?
We viewed an apartment yesterday we absolutely loved.
The only issues are that the cable jack comes out of the ground, near the wall right under the window which would house the AC (we want an AC). It's also in a very tight spot that may not even fit the TV.
Ideally, we'd like the television in a different part of the room. Preferably about 12 feet away from where the jack is.
I'm not cable savvy. Would it be possible to for an Xfinity technician work something out wirelessly by the jack, and allow our main cable box to be connected elsewhere? Or do we absolutely need the cable box to be connected to the jack? Are there any alternatives?
Any help would be appreciated!
