A list of puns related to "Tdap"
What is everyoneβs rules around the tdap and family and friends visiting newborn baby? We are asking our friends and family to get the tdap if they intend to see baby in the first three months. We have gotten push back from one set of grandparents so farβ¦
Am I being ridiculous making this a requirement? I am getting the tdap myself of course during pregnancy, but our dr recommended others be up to date on it too to be extra cautious if they will be around baby as a newborn.
Help!
This is a judgement free discussion! Im just genuinely curious on your reasoning. Please no mom/parent shaming in the comments.
Iβm 32 weeks pregnant and just got my TDAP through my OB. My husband and I donβt have a family doctor and the KFLAPH website says they are not booking immunizations right now for anyone unless itβs a routine immunization appointment, mostly for kids. My husband needs to get his TDAP. Anyone know where else in Kingston he can get this?
I got my tdap last week and my arm is still extremely sore over a week later. Is this normal? My dr said it would be sore after but not for this long⦠just want to make sure nothing is wrong!
Okay so last time i posted anything on this sub about vaccines i got ripped to shreds but i honestly have no where else to talk with fellow step parents on any issue. My SS(7) BM is anti vax, fine whatever itβs really not my business most of the time, until nowβ¦Iβm 8 months pregnant with my first baby and Iβve been requiring anyone who wants to be around the baby often get the flu and tdap vaccine. Most of my family and SOβs family got it with no fuss, but SS hasnβt yet due to BM. BM and i get along great, her and SO have a great co parenting relationship as well. so a few weeks ago i asked him to ask her about a compromise we could come to for at the very least the Tdap for SS and she agreed to go to a doctor she knows of that does βnatural vaccines.β I was good with that as i want to respect her wishes and i was thankful she was respecting mineβ¦everything seemed copacetic right? Wrong. Today SO texted her asking if she would make that appt since my due date is getting closer, and now sheβs second guessing itβ¦ she doesnβt want to get him any vaccine. Like i said i respect her stance on vaccines but now my daughter who is going to be born without an immune system is a factor, she will be sharing a home with SS who is around other kids constantly sharing germs and viruses. I cant risk my baby getting pertussis, thatβs the one im most terrified of. I plan on keeping her at home for a long time after she is born and limiting the time sheβs around even vaccinated people and i think Iβve compromised a lot already by not asking everyone to get the covid vaccine, flu vaccine AND tdap. I cant completely bend over and allow SS around my baby while he hasnβt had a vaccine in yearsβ¦ itβs just scary to me. SS is sick a lot, not like deathly sick or anything but he gets colds and strep often, he gets some type of upper respiratory illness each yearβ¦and im supposed to just be okay with that being around my newborn during the winter flu and cold season?
Im just so upset and i donβt know what to do, SO is stressed out and i feel awful. I love SS and he is so excited to meet his sister soon, i hate the idea of denying him that. I also hate the idea of allowing my daughter to potentially get really sick all because i couldnt stick to my guns and let BM railroad me into a choice Iβm uncomfortable with. It feels like Iβm choosing one child over the other regardless of what happens. βΉοΈβΉοΈ
Thank you for reading if you made it this far, i really donβt need a discussion about
... keep reading on reddit β‘I need to get my tDAP vaccine updated for work (in veterinary medicine) but it appears WDG health unit has suspended appointments due to COVID. I have not been able to get a family doctor so far- any suggestions?
I recently spoke to a nurse who said itβs good for him to get it again but everything I am reading online says the CDC recommends to only get it once if you got it less than 10 years ago . Waiting to hear back from my doc but wondering if anyone has asked this yet and knows. Thanks for any leads
Hi, are you all asking all the family members who will be in close contact with your baby early on to make sure that they have received the booster dose for TDAP vaccine in the last 10 years? If they havenβt will you ask them to get it before the baby arrives?
Issue: About to go see brand new healthy grandbaby Saturday that will be 4 days old. I got the TDap booster shot last Tuesday which will be 11 days before seeing the baby this Saturday. Is that good enough? Websites say 2 weeks (but some don't list a timeframe) after TDap booster to see an infant. Healthy baby and mother (who had her TDap shot before or during the pregnancy).
Should we wait (and thus irritate my wife) or is 11 days good enough?
Edit: Thank you all so much for the advice (and kind words). I do plan to talk to my son and his wife about it but you all have helped me feel better about being concerned. Thanks again.
Just a mild rant.
This week, I went to my doc for a followup and also to get my TDAP booster and flu shot. I just thought it was telling that both the doctor and the nurse over-prepped me for the TDAP shot, saying how painful it'll be and how I'll maybe want to take some OTC pain meds later, vs how doctors have spoken to me and my friends about how IUDs are "virtually painless!" or that it's barely a fraction of labor pain, so "bite your lip and get through it!" Okay? How about I come over and stab you with a piece of plastic or copper and then you can tell me how painless it is. Maybe the reason I am getting an IUD is so that I don't have to experience any fraction of labor pain?
I skipped the IUD because I simply don't trust a pushy doctor (seriously, how much are they making on Mirena??) whom I know is lying to me about what I can expect from a procedure. I'll stick to my pills, thanks.
Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's that because men also are given the TDAP vaccine, the pain/discomfort from it is acknowledged and taken seriously, whereas women's pain isn't taken seriously at all.
I got my tdap on Wednesday then my Flu and covid vaccinations today. They put the flu shot in the same arm that got the tdap. It is so sore I can barely lift or move it without wincing. Which also makes hoisting my roundness from the seated position a bit painful. For all you Mamas planning to get these in the future, I recommend getting these vaccines further apart.
I see articles that state that the pregnant person should get it within the last trimester. But I'm wondering if people like the partner and the grandparents would need to wait until the last 3 months too? Or does it matter if they get it a bit earlier than 3 months?
Had my Tdap booster shot today for my new job and that was about 8 hours ago and I feel 100% normal but Iβm nervous because my mom vs whenever sheβs gotten this vaccine. My records say I had one in 2007 but I donβt really remember it lol. N and v are POSSIBLE side effects so naturally my brain takes that and runs with it. Did any of you get sick with this shot? And if you did, how long did it take to happen? I got my first flu shot Tuesday as well. This has been a very stressful week for me but Iβm facing my fears I guess and the new job will be worth it!
Hi all! I had my tdap vaccine at the office yesterday. I slept 12 hours last night, which is not like me, and today I am absolutely exhausted. Like I was hit by a train. Is this normal? 32 weeks. Ty!
Does the Tdap shot hurt worse than others? I'm aware the after affects can be pretty brutal, but does actually getting the shot hurt worse than others?
I got the tdap 6 years ago but was told to get it at 28-36 weeks. I had a sore arm 6 years ago so didnβt think anything of it. Iβve been battling flu symptoms all day π I just want to cry.
What week did you all receive these shots or when do you all plan on getting it?
I havenβt spoken to my doctor yet, but Iβm assuming we should be getting it in third trimester, right?
Edit - thank you ladies for your responses! I assumed Iβd have to get it third trimester to pass on antibodies closer to my due date. I connected with my doctor and she said sheβs going to administer them both at 28 weeks and my covid booster 4 week after.
This afternoon I went up get my TDAP booster from my primary care physician. I'm 28 weeks along on my first pregnancy, my midwife told me to go schedule one, so off I went. I'm in NY, where we've been very on top of vaccines both for COVID and in general, just to give some context.
Something really weird happened at the appointment: I had my vitals checked by a nurse I'd never met before. After, I met with the doctor briefly, and went over what I needed (even though I had told the nurse and left a written request on my file). She steps out and comes back with the same nurse. The nurse then informs me they won't be giving me the vaccine because, based on her "personal experience," it's not safe. I ask her and my doctor what risks is she talking about, and my doctor just silently gestured to the nurse. The nurse says "based on my experience it's not good for the baby this far along." My doctor chimes in that if I come with a prescription from my obgyn (despite me explaining I am with a midwife multiple times), they will give me the shot. This is nothing to do with any current health issues - it appears they just don't want to give pregnant women the booster.
I checked the CDC and the only info I can find is how the TDAP with benefit the baby. I am strictly pro-science and pro-vaccines. I'm going to call my midwife tomorrow to double check in not crazy here.
I plan on calling the HMO this doctor is in to report the incident - is that out of line? If not, is there somewhere else I should call? I'm worried this practice isn't treating pregnant patients correctly, and possibly spreading anti-vaccine misinformation. I don't even know how to approach why the doctor was talking the nurse's lead in giving medical care.
Im a 2nd generation pr doing ns, I remember I took the chickenpox vax because its done on the stomach and influenza vaccination during bmt but not sure abt TDAP. Not having the records appear is confusing and worrying. Im enlisted for around 1 year already, should I take a tdap this week just to be safe?
[SOLVED]
Iβm pretty sure that 99% of my family has never even heard of Tdap, Iβm a nurse and I had to look at my vaccination records to see if/when I was last vaccinated for that. I know my family has been vaccinated for Covid but by the time I deliver (late January) theyβll probably all be due for boosters. Some have gotten Moderna/J&J so I donβt even know if boosters will be available. Flu is a pretty easy one to ask people to get. I want my family to see the baby right away, but not sure how to proceed safely and wonder if itβs crazy to ask them to be vaccinated with all three vaccinations? My FIL (who is pro-vax) will think itβs crazy and wonβt have any clue how to find out about Tdap. Just not sure if thatβs being overkill, or if thatβs what people are actually doing. Is the alternative to just have them all wear masks and wash their hands first?
Ok first and foremost, my partner and I are NOT anti-vaxx. We are both fully vaccinated for Covid and had all of our vaccines as kids. Iβm currently 7 months pregnant, Iβm getting care from a midwife and my goal is to birth at her birth center. So far we have enjoyed seeing her and appreciate her extensive knowledge, she is very evidence-based. However, on my last appt I asked if I would be getting the TDAP vaccine (since every pregnant woman who sees their OB seems to get the flu/TDAP vaccine in the third trimester). Her answer did not sit well with me, she said βyou know my answer to thatβ which I didnβt so I asked well can you elaborate. She said she doesnβt recommend her patients to get neither the flu shot nor the TDAP shot during pregnancy. I donβt think she has openly told us but we got the idea that she is just anti-vax in general. When we told her I had gotten the Covid vaccine she was not happy. I got the first dose of the Covid vaccine BEFORE I even knew I was pregnant and when it was time to get the second dose I already knew I was pregnant and decided to just get the second dose and fully protect myself. Baby and I are completely healthy since then (got the vaccine in March). My question is, should I follow the advice (or lack of) from my midwife not to get the TDAP vaccine while pregnant? I had heard somewhere that you could also just get the vaccine after birth, but I havenβt found much research on the effectiveness of that. Any tips/advice is appreciated!
I read online that the anyone who plans on being around newborns have to have TDAP within the last 10 years, but I also read they need a booster before the baby comes.
My dad got his TDAP in 2015. Anybody know if he still needs a booster or if the timeframe is still ok?
I just got the Tdap shot about 8 hours ago and for some reason my LO doesnβt seem to be moving as much and Iβm starting to worry. Her active schedule has changed over the last few weeks so she might be sleeping or something. Iβll be 29 weeks on Wednesday. I know they say if baby doesnβt move for 24-48 hours to start worrying but I canβt help it, I am a FTM and I donβt want to wait if there could be something done. Please help!
Update: Baby is back to moving like normal, she must have been taking a long nappy. Thank you all for the advice β€οΈ
I know no one can really know the answer to this, but do you think we'll be able to get covid boosters at 32+ weeks to protect our babies similar to flu and tdap in the near future? I will talk to my medical provider next week when i have my first ultrasound but I'm wondering if i can get my booster now to protect myself and then get another booster third trimester to protect the baby.
I would hate to get my booster now and be locked out of getting one later to protect baby when the baby won't be able to be vaccinated before six months (assuming approval by then).
UPDATE: passed my glucose test with a 98! And I feel much better today so I do think it was just the glucose test and shots that had me feeling run down yesterday π₯°
I had my glucose test today and also got my TDAP a and rhogam shot this morning. I took a nap this afternoon and now I feel like crap. Headache, exhausted, kinda just general malaise. Has this happened to anyone else? I hope Iβm not getting sick!
I got one with my son about 18 months ago and I'm nearing 7 months with this current pregnancy. Is it every pregnancy or is there set time between doses?
I just got my Tdap booster Friday and it has been 11.5 years since my last dose. I completed the entire series when I was young. My concern is this... CDC recommends a Tdap booster every 10 years. Is the Tdap booster less effective since my last dose 11.5 years ago instead of 10 years ago?
There's no way I'm going to be able to sleep on my left side tonight since my arm is so sore.
Currently 37+2. OB had never mentioned that this is needed or recommended. I actually stumbled across it while looking on a birth page. After googling, I read where itβs recommended between 28-36 weeks. Anyone not take it before delivery or later in third trimester? Are benefits still the same as if taken early on in third trimester?
Hey Everyone...just started following this sub about 2 months ago. My wife and I are expecting our first child next month and have to say, love all the nursery photos. It has given us great inspiration.
Feeling pretty let down from my own parents recently. So our OBGYN & pediatrician (via Zoom meet & greet) said that anyone who wants to hold the baby and spend considerable amount of time with them in the first 3 months should get their TDAP and Flu vaccines. Additionally, they should get their Covid booster when it's time. I communicated this to my dad initially and he said no problem, he would get them done.
My mom on the other hand, ended up giving me some insight into her stance on vaccines that, at 38 years old, had never known before. She also told me she lied on my school records about my vaccination status so I really don't know what I am vaccinated for. It's not that she is 100% anti...she did get the Covid vaccine. But she said she is scared of them and what they can potentially cause. Most likely due from complete shock, I said if you want to see our baby, you need to get those. Otherwise no visits. All she could come back with is "I respect your decision and hope you can respect mine".
I just got married 3 years ago and since then, my parents have been asking us when we are going to have kids. Now one is finally on the way, she doesnt want to do what we ask. Are we over the top? What have you all done? Are we normal?
Thanks.
Hola,
A donde puedo ir para recibir la vacuna del tetano (Tdap) en PR? No tengo plan medico y preferiria no tener que pagar. (Llevo como 20 years desde la ultima vez que me la puse).
Gracias.
This might be the end of me, asking about a vax but curious only what you did in terms of ensuring visitors, grandparents in particular did about the TDAP? I plan on getting it at 28 weeks but my doctor didnβt say anything about others needing it too.
Hi all,
Ahead of my due date, I wanted to just pop in and make sure everyone is up to date with their TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccinations.
Pertussis (whooping cough) is a serious and sometimes deadly respiratory illness that infants under 6 months are especially susceptible to. If you plan on wanting to meet this kiddo, Iβd love if you could make sure youβre up to date! (This is good for you too! π) If youβve had a booster in the last 10 years, youβre all set!
Baby will get some immunity from me receiving my booster during pregnancy, but the more protection the better!
Thanks all!
Hi All, I'm hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction for some information about GB and the TDAP vaccine.
A little background, my mom had GB in the 70's after receiving the swine flu vaccine. She was paralyzed for several months but, thankfully, made a complete recovery. Since then she has been very hesitant to take vaccines, though she is by no means an anti-vaxxer, quite the opposite. In fact, she took the Pfizer vaccine after talking to several specialists and had zero issues.
Fast forward, I'm pregnant with my first child and her first grandchild. We're very close and obviously I'd like her to be around after I give birth. We are both trying to do research to see what risks are involved for her getting the TDAP vaccine. She had it once before when she was very young with no negative impacts and her doctor is very for her getting it.
I'm hoping this community may have some resources for research or studies in terms of the TDAP and GB. Obviously, I'd never do anything to force my mom to get something that could legitimately harm her. I completely respect the fact that the idea can be terrifying to her for legitimate reasons. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about it as well. But on the flip side of that, I have to be cautious and protect my child as well, even if that means keeping her away the first 3 months of his life until he can get vaccinated.
Thank you for your time and any advice or resources you might be able to point my way!
I am in college and require several vaccines. I tested positive for immunity to MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB. My primary physician said that he doesn't test for TDap. He also said that he doesn't test for Meningococcal disease. I apparently need a Tdap Titer and a test for meningococcal immunity. Where are these provided?
My dr told me that for anyone that wants to be near baby she suggest to get that vaccine, so Iβve made everyone get it :-) anyone else?
