I understand mental health as someone who is 31 and was diagnosed with depression and bipolar at 14. I struggle with my identity daily and constantly try and figure out what remedies have worked best, but, I do not by any means see my struggle as something that supersedes the lack of basics provided to most humans. When I look at social media and the news these days I feel all the “classic suffering” has been swept under the rug because most people who are on these platforms are privileged enough to not worry about them. People seem to be more concerned about pronouns, what words are appropriate, and general policing of the social paradigm. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that these topics hold value, that as we evolve as a species certain aspect of our nature need to be addressed and debugged. But I feel more than ever, we are so self-obsessed and lazy that dealing with the practical things like a lack of food, shelter, and simple compassion are the missing gas in the vehicle of humanity and we are trying to refurbish the seats.
Update: people seem to think I’m just aiming at the LGBTQ community, I am not. I’m referring to all of the identity politics: political cults, religion, sexuality, culture, etc etc.... there’s so many ways we define ourselves and we are so up our own asses as humanity we are losing sight of simple selfless compassion. It’s easy to argue beliefs and ideas, it harder to go work so someone else gets fed.

I just watched a pretty informative video on Teddi Mellencamp's AllIn program. It really bothers me. I knew that she was scamming vulnerable women and was really agressive about the starvation system/weight loss programm but this video is really informative and goes one level deeper on the manipulation system / guru-like system that took place. Her place is in jail.
She should never have been on a platform like Real Housewives. It offered her more victims, more credibility and the opportunity to tell and presents herself like a fitness pro. I wish Bravo was more serious about this stuff, I know that she was fired but I wish it was clear that it was because of the AllIn scandal, just like it was clear that Stassi from Vanderpump Rules was fired because of her racist behaviour.

It's been 3 weeks today since Karreon Walker-Franks death by starvation in November was brought to light.
As of April 14th 2021 Felicia Adams-Franks and Jesse Franks are still walking around free as far as I can tell. I haven't been able to find any update to the story through google.
As a father, I find it unacceptable that these two remorseless pieces of shit are walking around free.
I know that staff from the Columbian and Willamette week haunt this sub...

See, I don't usually post those kinds of stories on Reddit. But I think I need to share this with you all here.
Pandemic started really happening in Brazil a little after our 2020 Carnival festival, which is mid February. Our president is a shithead so he did nothing to stop the spread, and when mid March came, things were already a chaos. For the first time, everyone had to work at home, a lot of people start getting really sick, everyone was getting fired, and I was in between jobs... So I was fucked. Luckly they made the brazillian version of the USA's stimulus check, that here we called "auxílio emergencial", and my wife started getting her minimum wage salary paid by the government while she stayed home, so was nothing big but at least we could pay the bills and basically survive.
The real problem came when the auxílio ended in December 2020. My wife had to go back to work, and she works as a receptionist at a school, so she obviously got covid. While I was under the auxílio, I watched a lot of LTT to pass time, specially Scrapyard Wars.
I already had some basic experience building and fixing computers but I was very undiscouraged to really start telling people "hey I can't kill covid but the viruses in your computer I can", because I though I might screw something up on peoples computers and end up getting even more fucked. But watching LTT made me realized how much I liked messing around with computers. I cable managed my own PC properly for the first time since I brought it, back in 2015. I even used some RAM from the old computer to upgrade my "new" one, learned a bunch of things about cooling (and fixed mine), overclocking, and how much cool is building computers.
I used a banner I made in Photoshop two years ago for this exact purpose, fixing computers (but I never started actually putting myself out there because, like I said, I was afraid, and also depression sucks). So I finally placed it in front of my house, and started telling people over Whatsapp that I could fix their computers for cheap. And things took off fast, I guess because everyone is using a lot their computers those days. On the second week I was already doing business with a driving school to fix a bunch of their computers, and I had like 6 more notebooks of other people to format and fix, and I made a really good money that was even more than the auxílio previously paid (on the first month at least).
