I purchased a Banded Sleeper Goby (Amblygobius phalaena) for my 75 gallon mixed reef, which currently has a pair of clowns and an adapted Creamsicle Lyretail Molly. The goby has acclimated well, but shines into a burrow whenever someone is in the room. For anyone that has experience with these, how long does this “shy phase” last? It’s making it difficult to feed, although it was gladly accepting mysis at the store, eating any piece that came within ~3 inches of it, although it hides during feeding normally. It spends the whole day picking at the rocks and sand, so how long can this go on before it starves?
Anyone know if a sand sifter like the sleeper blue dot goby will compete for food like pods on/in the sand bed against a mandarin goby and six line wrasse? Just wondering as I have the mandarin and six line but am considering a pair of sleeper blue dot gobies to help with sifting the sand and making it look clean.

Just picked up one of these little dudes and the water is cloudy as hell from his burrowing. Will this disrupt other fish? How long does it usually take for them to get out in the open? And I heard mixed things about these guys about them and corals in a tank like them sifting sand on top of them.
About a week ago, I bought two oscars who were in a pair. Though they both seemed to sulk at first, one really started to settle in after a few days. The other one, however seems to stay at the bottom a lot, and I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but she seems to breathe deeper than the other.
I don’t know what’s wrong — my temperature and pH are correct (and I’m assuming my water quality is, as I’ve done a water change). My tank is 125 Gallons, and they came from a 20 gallon tank in a pet shop. It doesn’t make sense why one’s acting normal and the other isn’t.
Is this normal, is is there something more sinister going on? I know I may be reacting too fast, but if the fish is ill I’ll want to know ASAP.
Any advice helps!
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I am new to reef tanks and I was hoping to get some advice on the compatibility of certain livestock in my tank.
My first additions to the tank were a clown fish and a blueband goby. These two seemed to hit if off great, which I wasn't expecting. I thought they'd be pretty much indifferent to each other, but they like to hang out together, which is cool.
I was a little frustrated because I told the guy who was helping me at my LFS that my intention was to eventually get a pistol shrimp, so I wanted a goby that would pair up. He sold me the blueband and told me it would pair. Upon further research I found out that the blueband is a sleeper goby, not a shrimp goby. By that time I had grown attached to the fish, and didnt want leave my clown without a buddy so I decided I'd keep him.
I waited a while to make sure everything was good with the tank, and then added a candy stripe pistol shrimp and a Hi Fin Goby. The Hi fin is really small and the Shrimp is pretty big, at least compared to the goby.
This is where the trouble begins.
So I was hoping for the shrimp to pair with the hi fin right away, and that didn't happen, which I knew was a possibility from my research. They have run into eachother a couple times, and it seems like the goby is afraid of the shrimp. This could be due to the size disparity, but from what I read they are innately supposed to be pretty comfortable with eachother.
The more I observe, the more I think the Blueband Goby has something to do with the strained relationship between the Hi Fin and the Shrimp. The Blueband had created some caves/tunnels before I introduced the other two, and the shrimp sort of took over those areas. There is other space to work with, but it seems like both the blueband and the pistol shrimp want the same holes, and they are constantly waiting for the other one to move somewhere else, so they can reclaim their favorite spot. This goes back and forth daily. I haven't ever actually seen any aggression between the two though.
The Hi Fin, being the smallest in the tank seems kind of caught in the middle of all this. It doesnt burrow or venture too far into any of the holes because it doesnt want to get in anyone's way I think. It seems a little lost and stressed. Still eating every day though.
I assume that the shrimp, being pretty blind, cant really differentiate between the goby's and is confused why one of them is being kind of a dick, so its just rejecting both of the goby's. Because the Blueba
