I found the demo of The Lorax from Seussical, so I was curious if any other tracks from the pre broadway version exist?
So basically the negative descriptions of him from the text (not from "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch") sound a lot like a hateful way someone would describe the typical sort of Sheldon-Cooper-esque autistic fiction tends to depict but that's not all as at least to me on my last reread the Grinch's main problems with Christmas sounded a lot like a sensory-overloaded autistic who doesn't see the point of their materialism. As for stealing Christmas that seems to me like a classic sort of oversimplified and disproportionate response someone autistic might do where "thing is bothering me, I'll just make the thing go away". And that he does, with a very elaborate plan to boot, but when he sees them still singing his "heart grows three sizes" (aka he learns a bit more about empathy) as not only does he realize Christmas is more than just all the flash and pomp and circumstance but he sees determination in the others to keep Christmas alive that mirrors his own to steal it. As for how Seussical and JoJo's family fits into this, (using Occam's Razor that the Grinch is just a more different Who) since I think the events take place before those of Seussical presumably after all that went down they learned more about what "Who-autism" actually is which is why his parents sought help in the song "How To Raise A Child" it's just that just like humans they've got a ways to go hence why JoJo got recommended to join the military as just a way to get him "out of his head"
I say it will propel us from Crypto-hell and we will smell like the belle of the well-heeled ball. What do you think?

First time posting to the sub! Looking through the history, it looks like there have been several Seussical requests before. However, I am trying to find two sources in particular:
- The 2/9/2001 performance. This is one where Rosie O'Donnell was the Cat in the Hat. I have been able to find the first half of the show but strangely not the second, so I'm hoping someone will have the full thing!
- The 12/10/2000 performance. I've seen records to indicate that this apparently exists, but I've never seen it. Or, if somebody has a bootleg with David Shiner that is not from opening night, I'd be interested!
For some background, I am trying as a personal project to stitch together the entire original Seussical production from start to finish, using the pro-shot highlights as well as pieces from the various bootlegs floating around. I have a good amount of it done, but I am hoping to come across a bit more material to work with. Thanks in advance for the help :)
So I grew up listening to the original Broadway cast recording and I absolutely fell in love with the music and story. It was one of the first shows I saw as kid and it made me want to do theatre. I studied theatre in college and in my studies I came across some of the worst received shows from broadway. In my reading Seussical the Musical came up and I was very surprised. It did very poorly on Broadway during its original run. So I’m curious as to why it wasn’t so well received and if there is still a good amount of distain for the show so many years after it’s run?

((This is a parody of the Broadway musical Seussical. Its basicly a Broadway show of Dr. Seuss so it's not to hard to follow the plot. Sadly, there's is a virtual version of the show, but it's been taken down for unknown reasons. However, I do have an alternative suggestion: The Script. Here is a version of the script that I'll be going off of. All the characters will be the same except Aspen will be Horton, Akira as Sour Kangaroo, The Wickershams as Monokuma units, Yurtle the Turtle as Monokuma, Taka as the Marshal in the court, Mazie will be herself and Gertrude will be a good verson of Akira. When Gertrude gains her tail feathers, Akira will grow fancier in appearance. For story reasons, she'll be a boy. Also, and I'm sorry to ask of this but, for the citizens I'm asking you to play various random people for the citizens. For the trial scene, it will based on the bootleg version. Also, include the "Order in the Court" song, because it's so catchy and it's easy to get it stuck in your head. A tip for the bootleg, scroll down untill you see Download Options. Click on the one that says MPEG. It will make it easier to understand. Even though it's like it, it's kind of hard to hear the second part of the song. Here's my take of the trial scene with the changed characters:
Taka: "Calling case number 714, The People vs Aspen the Bean The honorable judge Monokuma and presiding. All rise!"
Everyone except Monokuma and Taka: "Order order order in the court. Let the witness speak and address the court" Monokuma: "State your name and make it sure. Order order order in the court!" Everyone except Monokuma: "Order order order! Order order order order, in the court!" Taka: "Aspen the Bean will be referenting herself" Aspen: "Your Honor, this clover is Exhibit A." She held up the clover for all to see "There Whos here, there all whos here, smaller than the eye can see." Jury: "Biggest blame fool in the Jungle of Nool!" A: "It's true sir, here's Who, Who sir, he's a Who and so is she." J: "Biggest blame fool in the Jungle of Nool!" A: "There tiny little floating by in the air, wondering how and why! Hi folks, I hope I'm asking the right people about this. I recently discovered the cast recording of Seussical the Musical and I really really enjoyed it. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend similar recordings?
I already listen to a lot of musicals but don't often come across too many with the same sort of energy and fun. Others I enjoy include Hamilton, Be More Chill, Eugenius, Six, Little Shop Of Horrors, Beetlejuice, Spongebob (please don't judge), Heathers, In the Heights and lots more.

I have expanded my collection of Seussical boots a fair bit, and after checking Encora I realized I only have three left to find! I only need the PreBroadway/Boston show on September 24th 2000, the Broadway show on April 1st, 2001 and the reading from May 14th, 1999! (I didn't know the last one existed and just found out by pulling up Encora as I was creating this post. I am freaking out!!!) I have every single other Seussical boot to trade if you like, as well as a couple other boots I've collected. I'll link my list below so ya'll can check it out to see if you'd want to trade. The Field.
It was January. A cold night, snow covered the ground. A clear night, constellations, Lupus Major, Zoë, Ursa Major and Minor, clearly seen. A silent night, for nary an animal was to be awake. The only signs of life was the roaring fire in camp. And, of course, in the fields.
The fields were coated in the most elaborate ice museum one could have seen. Ice fish, ice cats, abstract ice sculptures of all kinds, but some may seem familiar to a few. The largest was in the center, of an odd giant hat.
This sculpture was the centerpiece for the event. Tonight, Jaina Mapleleaf, resident matchmaker and dryad, had set up a romantic event, all inspired by the most prolific of romance authors, Theodore Geisel, or Dr. Suess.
Underneath the hat was a beautiful scene. Chairs and chandeliers, with satyrs in suits to serve the menu. It spoke of green ham and eggs, Beezle-nut soup, and Roast Beast and Who-hash, with Truffula Smoothies and Moose and Goose Juice as some drink options. It would be a perfect date.
For activities, couples could browse the ice museum, go ice fishing for red and blue fish in Mcelligots Pool, plant truffula trees of love near the forest, and, in the main event…
A Hot Air Balloon.
How Jaina procured such an item would only be left to the imagination, and the employees would be given therapy. Eventually. For now, a couple could enjoy a ride up together, seeing the camp from up high, with romantic privacy.
Of course, how would campers know who had been matched with whom? A card, typed, left ontop their pillow, or in another obvious place, proclaiming who they would be matched with.

Hi everyone! I found part of this show with Rosie O’Donnell on dailymotion but cannot find the second half of it anywhere! I’d also love if anyone had any other version of the OBC (I don’t mind which filming, but the best quality video would be amazing)
I have been looking for this show for a while because I was in my high schools version of it!
Upon doing an internet search, i found some traders websites that say they have versions of the show, however none have responded to my emails and I have no way of knowing when their sites were last updated or checked.
I’m pretty new to trading and collecting bootlegs, but I do have a collection of about 60 shows that I’d be happy to trade with or otherwise a gift would be amazing (sorry for being that person)

I've got clips, news articles/reviews, costume/prop information, photos of the cast as well as a butt load of playbill photos. This is a passion project of mine since I am absolutely obsessed with this musical and I would do anything for a bootleg of the show. As the title says, I’ve been asked by a local high school to play lead trumpet for the pit in their production of Seussical the Musical this spring. I’m a highschool junior and play decently. Eb above the staff is the extent of my range on a good chop day (though tone quality leaves a lot to be desired lol). I have straight, cup, and Harmon(with stem) mutes.
Ive never played in a pit and don’t have the book yet so I don’t know what to expect. Has anyone here played this? Is there anything I should get a head start on working on now, or other mutes or equipment I need? Thanks :)
