A list of puns related to "Secular Holiday"
Iβm Jewish, but I find that thought crazy. Is it not a religious holiday?
Here you go! It does mention Christmas but doesnβt go into detail (think βIβll Be Home for Christmasβ not βDrummer Boyβ).
(I know itβs early for some of yβall but Iβm a car alters kinda person lol)
Does anyone celebrate secular Holidays in place of religious holidays? With Easter, my husband and I just told our parents we wouldn't be celebrating and they accepted that but I'd like to think of another way to celebrate spring with no ties to religion.
First time posting but I'm hoping one of you might have a good take on this!
The library I work for is secular, so we can't celebrate or imply any holidays. No Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, or even Mother's or Father's Day (because that would be offensive to those without parents). However according to the board, this also counts Black History Month which literally just an annual observance.
All we're allowed to do for the month is stand up kids biographies of famous Black people on a shelf. I asked if we could at least make posts to our social media's since we have a decent following and was outright rejected. Since we're still in a pandemic I have no intention of holding any in-person events, but I would think that social media posts highlighting books, graphic novels, and authors would be the bare minimum.
My question is: How can I convince the powers that be (the board) that observing Black History Month is important and would be doing a real service to our patrons?
Feel free to ask any questions, sorry if I was a bit vague!
I'm talking about Holidays like 4th of July, New years, Thanksgiving, and overall just fun little holidays like that? The holidays dont really go against Islam so I dont think it's wrong. But I'm just asking here to double check and make sure. My country also has a lot of Cultural type of Holidays so is that haram too?

Christmas is a Pagan holiday that was co-opted by Christianity.

Jesus' birth was more likely in the Spring or summer given the narrative. Not on Dec 25 th.

Turn about is fair play and taking Christ out of Christmas and making it your own holiday is perfectly acceptable.
Christmas has been so ingrained in the society that now I donβt even think of Jesus being born when I think of Christmas. Instead some of the things I think of spending time together with family, trees, presents, and Santa beating the Woodland critters to death
What do you think?
Ascension

Ascension takes place on the fortieth day of Easter and commemorates Jesus's ascension into heaven β¦
Mix of Torah ideas and stories but for guests who arent religious. I became religious about 7 years ago but I don't remember the first things I read that weren't too strong or emunah based - does anyone have any recommendations? Also looking for a physical book not printing stuff off the internet. Thank you!
Also how do you celebrate the holidays especially if you have a family or kids?
If no holidays for majority & more holidays for majority (like we have- 4 Islamic holidays celebrated by 17% in compulsory list vs 2 Hindu holidays in compulsory list even though more Indians celebrate Mahashivratri, Janmashtami, Holi than Id) is secularism, when are the "secular" nations awarding the same courtesy to Hindus living there?
Obviously, "the west" being a bit too broad of a term. I was raised in a western country and Christmas is an established and important tradition to almost everyone, but very, very few people celebrating it actually believe in Christianity. This made me wonder if things like eid al-fitr will eventually go down the same road or not.
Seen a lotta selfies here, so I figured why not. Ignore the edgy pose.
