Schenectady seems like a regular American city yet there's a bunch of famous people from there and there seems to be a bunch of movies/books set there. Im not trying to hate on your guys' city but Im having trouble figuring out why there's so much notoriety surrounding it lol.

Glass is always half full in my book. Curious though, what are your guys opinions/thoughts/experiences from Schenectady? I was under the impression they don't do interviews and also under the impression the times are 6 weeks not 6 months. Thanks in advance

Had another crap experience at Rivers Casino that I wanted to share. This isn't as big of a win as my $2400 from two weeks ago, but I wanted to share it.

Background: I just got done watching that awful MNF game and decided to head to the craps table for a last minute session. Its almost 12am and I know the table's won't be as packed. I buy in for $250 at a $15 table that had a spot between 2 friends. I had wanted to get into the side so they could be by each other, but one insisted I can go between them as it wasn't a big deal. Table is hot and cold with someone having a good roll and then the next person PSO. The guy who let me buy in between them has a good roll with multiple points and numbers. He hits on the All-tall, but misses on the small. I'm next to shoot and I PSO (52). As a result, a few guys leave besides 3 people besides me: a regular next to stick man who is playing deep with a lot of black chips and a couple down on the other side of the table (the guy was playing, while the wife was 2nd in command if he left for the bathroom, but was mostly watching and talking). Regular and Husband rebound with a few number rolls, but no points made. I'm next up....and I POS again (Another 52, fml). Nobody is looking to thrilled with me on that and I don't blame them. I also lost most of my winnings from the good roll when I first bought in, so I'm only up $50 now. We also get a new player. A young dude wearing a hoodie and a Yankee's hat next to stickman. Regular, Yankee's Hat, and Husband rebound with a few number rolls, but no point made. Table isn't looking to good at 1am. I decide I'm gonna roll one more time and see if I can turn a profit or just go home tired and even for the night.

The Roll: Me, Yankee's Hat, and Husband play ATS. Husband does 25 across on all the bonuses while the rest of us just do $5 across. First roll I put to much arc into my shot and end up hitting the wife with one of the dice. Great start /s. She gives me an "owe" (sarcastically) and I try to laugh it off as trying to take some frustration out on the dice. 2nd roll is a 3. Great start again (/s). Next roll is a 9. Next roll is a 9 for the clutch shot. I throw $12 on Big Red and $5 on Horn High 12. Next roll is an 11. Roll after that is the 9. My next 4 rolls are 12, 2, 8, and 5. I just need the 4, 6, 10 for ATS (I was unaware until this point as I was focused on making the point). I roll a few 8s and 5s, but then spike the 9 to make my 2nd point. Table is getting

I've been playing craps for a long time and had my best and fast roll in a while that I wanted to share. Its 1:30am and the UFC fight just got done. Rather than wait in a long line to cash some sportsbook tickets, I head to the craps tables. I buy in for $400 at a $10 table with a full table. Table is ice cold and most of the people who have been playing color up and leave. Its my turn to shoot. On my 1st series I...

1. Hit the All Tall for $5 (win $175)

2. Was 1 number away from making the ATS (2)

3. All the numbers established with come bets. Sadly I didn't have much odds due to the table being cold. By the time I started pressing my odds, it was too late.

4. Made 3 points (4, 9, 8)

I 7-out after rolling for a while. I was up about $500 from my 1st series, so I was pumped. A lady buys in for $130 on my right and starts asking me how to play. I explain to her how to play and how some of the bets work. Sadly, the table went ice cold after my roll. Its not even 20 minutes before I'm back to shooting again. On my 2nd series, I...

1. Knock out the All Small quickly. Still had to hit the 9, 11, 12 for the ATS.

2. After rolling the 9 on a comeout roll. I hit the 12 after my father (who is on my left and still playing the Field despite trying to get him to do place bets instead) tells me to "roll a 12". On my next throw, my dad tells me "Smash that 11". BOOM! YO-11 on my next throw and we make the ATS (which my dad didn't bet).

3. Again had all the numbers established with come bets. And much like last time, I didn't have big odds. The lady on right was copying my betting strategy/plays. So I wasn't doing huge odds while showing her how to play the come. And much like last time, I didn't start pressing until it was too late.

4. Made 5 points (9s and 5s twice and an 8)

After I 7-out and missing on the 6 point, I color up. One of the players tips me $100. He was also doing the come bet, but had max odds. He walked out probably up 6k from come bets and ATS. This is why you go for max odds on you come bets, folks. I was very excited for my shooting series. In about less than 2 hours (I walked out at around 3am), I had made 2k. I could've made a lot more, but 2k is nothing to complain about.

I'm a 25 year old (M) young professional moving to the city, mainly because I've found a great apartment in a nice neighborhood that is walking distance from my new job.

I've committed to live in the city for at least a year and a half, so I'd like to know a couple things:

How is the nightlife nowadays?

Are there organized adult recreational sports?

Are there a lot of young people moving into the city currently?

Any additional information/anecdotes would be appreciated!

Have only lived in Schenectady for about 2 years now. Would appreciate info on where can I go to watch planes take off/land at the airport? I've driven around it and didn't see an "open to public" spot. I did find a couple of "Do not trespass" areas, but probably not the places to hangout watching planes.
Also the air force base...same question. I would love to watch the C-130's take off/land. Anywhere I can hang out close enough?

If you don't know this, Mike's Hot Dogs in Schenectady on Erie Blvd. is always a treat of a great dog and burger, fries too. Place has been an icon for over 50 years and still going strong.

I've watched the show a thousand times, but I can't figure out how they figured out that fat Mike was the one that ratted out Ron. Can someone please explain, or is it just one of those things?

A friend of mine just started at Schenectady middle school and has only horror stories to tell about the place. Its a complete disaster in terms of policies (or lack there of) set by administration, many of the students act like animals, and the education of those who actually do care is being ruined by those who do not. No one seems able to get the students to stop yelling at each other from the start to the end of the school day. Fights brake out all the time. Most of these kids are being set up to continue the life of poverty their parents live in because the school is incapable of managing the students.
