Every U.S. region has an unofficial song:
The South has "Dixie", The West has "Home on the Range", The NorthEast has "Yankee Doodle" (I couldn't find any source for this, am I right on this one or is it just me?)
What's our song? Do we have one? This has bothered me for a long time. If we don't have one what are your suggestions?
In Austria every state has its own anthem and sometimes they are more important - resp. identity-establishing - than the official Austrian anthem. Does this also exist in your country and if so what is the anthem like?
I saw a question about national anthems, and it got me thinking. In Spain every Comunidad Autรณnoma , that is to say, every region has its own anthem, but in some regions is more important than in others. For example, in Andalucรญa it is expected that everybody knows the regional anthem, it is taught in schools and sang every year in Andalucรญa's day, but the region of Castilla y Leรณn doesn't even have an official regional anthem. Does the same happen in your country?
Or maybe even a town anthem? Just out of curiosity, because here in Brazil atleast every state (as fair as I know) have an anthem and some cities have their own anthem.
If it have, can you share them?
Some of the members of our team were interested in singing the national anthem at the regional we're attending next week. Does anyone know the procedure to get started on that or if there's a process to go through? Thanks for your help!
From personal experience, so far l've discovered these are the songs that get a collective "Ohhhhh!!!!!" on the first note in any club.
New England - "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond
New York - "Juicy", "Hypnotize", and "Big Poppa" by Biggie Smalls all mixed together as one song.
New Jersey - "Shot through the Heart" by Bon Jovi
Texas - "Deep in the heart of Texas" by anybody covering it.
Southern California - "What I got" by Sublime
