Raja Dahir or Muhammad Bin Qasim. Whose side are you on? And why?

The question in title was trending on twitter a few days back. Share your thoughts fellow redditors.

In my opinion: MBQ paved the way for Islam in sub-continent. The colonies that he established served as the gateways for Sufis. He is rightfully called Bab ul Islam.

As a conqueror MBQ remained mostly peaceful and his war campaigns shed little blood. Majority of the Sindhis were pardoned. A small number of temples were desecrated. (FYI: early then invaders were mostly savage and used to not even spare religious sites, libraries of the opponents. The biggest barbarians Ghengis khan and Halagu khan both came after over 500 years of this campaign. Maharaja Ranjeet Singh after invading Punjab converted Lahore's Shahi Masjid to horses stable.)

As a war commander Dahir was a failure. Heroes don't get defeated by 17 year olds. On the contrary, being a 17 year old MBQ proved to be an exemplary military strategist.

Dahir was not a popular leader. During his reign, Sindh was suffering from dire poverty and unemployment. Sindhi population, mainly consisted of Buddhists, considered Hindu Dahir a threat to their religion.

You will find supporters of Dahir only among nationalist Sindhis or Indian Hindus. Their only reference would be from Chach Nama.

Turkey was conquered by Sultan Mehmet. It was a Christian majority and the political center of greek empire. Nobody in Turkey considers Constantine as their hero. No Turk has ever called Mehmet a villain. Nobody in Persia cries for their Zoroastrian leaders.

Pakistanis are just hopeless. They adapt anything that goes against mainstream narrative. We find conspiracy in every aspect. Someday someone would say something against Muhammad Ali Jinnah and a hell lot of people will believe it.

Brave daughters of Raja Dahir - Suraj Devi and Parimal Devi

[Instead of teaching false history we must teach the original history and the bravery of INDIAN WOMAN. This is the story of the daughters who very cleverly killed the first barbarous and brutal Muslim looter. Who destroyed the great kingdom of Indian king DAHIR.]

Tuhman Hamadani, accompanied by Abyssinian servants. One night the Khalif had the two girls brought into his haram, and he then gave them into the charge of the bedchamber attendants, with orders to pay them every attention, and present them when they had recovered from the fatigues of their journey. Two months afterwards the Khalif remembered these two Hindi slaves, and ordered them to be brought into his presence. An interpreter accordingly summoned them. When their veils were thrown back, the Khalif, on seeing them, became distracted with admiration of their great beauty. He then asked them their names; one said her name was Parmal-Devi, the other said her name was Suraj-Devi. The Khalif ordered the attendants to leave one of them there. She then rose and said: 'I am not fit for the bedchamber of the Khalif, because Muhammad bin Kasim dishonored us both before be sent us to the Khalif.' When the interpreter explained this, the fire of anger and jealousy was kindled in the Khalif, and he gave orders that as a punishment for this want of respect, Muhammad bin Kasim should be wrapped up in the raw hide of an ox, and be sent to the capital. To enforce this order, the Khalif wrote some words of menace in the margin of the letter in his own hand, 'Wherever Muhammad bin Kasim may be, when this reaches him, he is to come to the capital, and make no fail in obeying this order.' Muhammad bin Kasim was at Udhapur, when the Khalif's chamberlain brought this mandate. When he had read it he directed that officer to carry the order into effect. He accordingly wrapped Muhammad bin Kasim in a raw hide. Three days afterwards the bird of life left his body and flew to heaven. The chamberlain put the body into a box, and carried it to the capital. When he arrived in Syria, he brought the box before the Khalif on a day of public audience. The Khalif enquired if Muhammad were alive? The chamberlain replied that he had been enclosed in a raw skin, and that he died three days afterwards. The Khalif then directed the box to be taken into the female apartments, and ordered that it should be opened there in his presence. He then called for the daughters of

Raja Dahir's Final Speech

Raja Dahir was a famous 8th century Sindhi king that faced the first Islamic invasion led by Muhammad bin Qasim of the Umayyad Caliphate. Here is his final speech before the Battle of Aror according to Chachnama:

"I am going to meet the Arabs in the open battle", he said, "And fight them as best as I can. If I crush them, my kingdom will then be put on a firm footing. But if I am killed honorably, the event will be recorded in the books of Arabia and India, and will be talked about by great men. It will be heard by other kings in the world, and it will be said that Rajah Dahar of Sindh sacrificed his precious life for the sake of his country, in fighting with the enemy."

Question about mutala e Pakistan

I got into an argument with a certain user here who wanted me to glorify a specific ruler in history. I'm like no I'm not going to glorify a person who committed so many terrorist acts on my people. This got me thinking that the mutala e Pakistan should address regional history of the people. So that students can learn history from the perspective of their people. Sindhis celebrate Raja Dahir instead of bin qasim who was a bedouin invader. Punjabis should be taught more about harappa civ, gandhara civ, and also rig Vedas which were written down in Punjab. And so on with other ethnicities. What do you think?

Chad Hindu Princess

β€œAccording to Ferishta, Muhammad bin Qasim captured two of Dahir’s daughters and sent them to the caliph as a gift. They were added to the imperial harem; but when the caliph called the elder princess to his bed, she told him that she was no longer a virgin as Muhammad bin Qasim had already raped her. The caliph flew into a rage at this insult and had the general executed by having him sewn up in animal hide. When the corpse was presented to her, the brave princess confessed that she had lied in order to have her revenge.”

From the book The Ocean of Churn by Sanjeev Sanyal.

Historical evidence suggests that Muhammad bin Qasim was executed soon after the conquest of Sindh.

Everything from bawarij pirates to the global trading community to the ocean of saints and poets and all of their individualistic ideas and concepts.

There's barely any mention of it in the Pak Studies books.

Hell. People think the history of the land starts from Bin Qasim (who actually was a racist to the people here) when he invaded and killed Raja Dahir.

'India and the Islamic Dark Ages' - Part 4

This is part 4 of the earlier article On the Nature of Islam. This is a tract written on the Nature of Islam in context of the rising Islamic terrorism the world over in 2002. This article discusses the atrocities done on Hindus by Islam during its rule in India and also the concept of β€˜negationism’. Note: Krishnaswami is a penname of an author, who for more spiritual than political reasons, shall remain anonymous.

About the large scale distribution of Hindu girl slaves on the occasion of celebration of Muslim festival of Id, Ibn Battuta writes: β€œFirst of all, daughters of Kafir Hindu Rajas captured during course of the year, come and sing and dance. Thereafter they are bestowed upon Amirs and important foreigners. After this, daughters of other Kafirs dance and sing… The Sultan gives them to his relatives. On the day after Id the Darbar is held in a similar fashion. Female singers are brought out… The Sultan distributes them among the Muslim officers…” (Ibn Battuta /63). β€œThousands of Hindu women were distributed in the above manner in later years to celebrate Id festival” (Afif / Tarikh-i-Firoz Shahi/ 119-20/ 180/265).

According to Hedayah every slave girl could be used as concubine. Obtaining wives and concubines through all kinds of criminal means – capture, purchase, enslavementβ€”was in vogue among Muslims.

Fatawa -i- Alamgiri declares β€œIf the breasts are large or vagina wide or baggy (which does not give requisite pleasure) whether in a virgin or a non-virgin, the purchaser has a right to return her to the seller and claim refund of money.” … (Fatawa -i- Alamgiri/ Deoband/ xxiv/ 5-6, 26-27).

ZiyauUddin Barani reckons regulations regarding sale of β€œhorses, slaves and quadrupeds” under one category …(Barani/ 312). Very similar rules apply both to the sale of animals and Hindu bonds men. β€œ A milch buffalo caused 10 – 12 tankahs, a working girl was cheaper. The price of a good quality horse was 90 – 120 tankahs that of a ghulam was 100 on an average. A handsome young boy could be obtained for 20 to 30 tankahs.” …(Barani/Tarikh-i-Firoz Shahi/ 314 – 15). It is therefore a matter of some satisfaction that under the Khaljis the value of Hindus in terms of price was not less than that of horses and buffaloes.

Hindu boys and men in thousands were emasculated in to Hijiras (eunuchs) to serve the Muslim cities as servants
