I currently use ProtonMail, but it doesn't have POP3 support. My understanding is that this means that I can't use PGP for getting what I type on ProtonMail to people who aren't yet on ProtonMail. Is that correct?

Any updates on the IMAP/POP3 Progress

Hey there,

I noticed CTemplar specified on their roadmap that IMAP/POP3 would be implemented at Q1 of 2021, however as this has obviously been delayed, so is it possible for a new estimated completion date? I really want to make CTemplar my primary email however I can't do this until IMAP/POP3 is available.

Thanks!

Have POP3 access via gmail, but cannot recover account access.

I have Gmail account 1 and Gmail account 2.

I added account 2 to Gmail UI of account 1 using the POP3 feature so that I could read both inboxes in one tab.

I then promptly forgot the password of account 2. A recovery phone number is attached to account2 but I don't have that SIM card any longer. There is no 2FA set on it.

Currently I can read any emails for account 2 that arrive via the gmail web interface of account 1. Now I would like to recover full account access.

Can I get the account 2 password back out from Gmail in some way?

Hopeless or recoverable situation?

Exchange Online receiving duplicate emails through POP3 Since 11/1

My company has several customers who use Exchange Online via their Microsoft365 accounts. Our software uses Mailkit to pull emails via POP3. It deletes the emails after pulling them. Starting on Monday, 11 Nov., some customers are continually receiving emails via POP3. Those messages are being marked read as soon as we "delete" them, but Exchange Online keeps telling us that those messages have not been pulled from the server.

I have tested our software with a personal 365/Outlook account. The personal account deletes or moves the retrieved messages via POP3 depending on the setting for "Don't allow devices and apps to delete messages...." and "Let apps and devices delete messages...".

Do our customers have access to similar settings? Is there a change MS rolled out on Monday? Is there a setting they can adjust to go back to the old behavior of the messages NOT being retrieved via POP3 on every pull after "deleting" the message? Should I post this somewhere else? Much thanks, Jason

Downloading Pop3 Mails via Python

I work in a company that has a pretty awful "system" of exchanging data. As many people enter data, the company insists on using Excel, and they even refused that I make a proper database instead.

Anyways, the way it works is everyone sending their sheets daily to me via pop3 email, and then I'd merge them in one giant spreadsheet. I do that manually, but it gets pretty time consuming and repetitive. I'm not well-versed in Python (I mostly deal with JS/Node, but I take it they wouldn't really be useful here), but I take it that I might solve this question here.

I've worked with openpyxl and pandas before. But is there a way to download these Excel files automatically when I receive them (or like daily, anything works)? Then I imagine I'd be able to extract them into dataframes and manipulate them as God intended.

Link gmail account in another gmail account without POP3

Hello,

I have two email addresses, both in gmail.

The second address is linked in the "Check mail from other accounts" option in "Accounts and Import".

But it only lets me use the "POP3" option and I don't get the emails directly (I think it checks the inbox about every 5-10 min or so).

In the secondary account, I have the "IMAP access" option enabled under "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".

It is very annoying because sometimes I have to wait quite a while to receive emails from the other account, and in the end I have to click many times on the "check mail now" button in "Check mail from other accounts".

Is there any way to import a gmail account into another gmail account without using POP3?

Selfhosted Web Mail with Pop3, local Storage and one Account for all

Hi,

I have a lot of E-Mail Addresses (currently ~15) spread across multiple providers and different technologies (IMAP/POP3).

I currently use Thunderbird localy on all my (4) Devices I use, but I would like to have a centralized approach.

There are a lot selfhosted Web Mail Clients available, but Im not sure which one suits my needs best.

My needs are:

- For one login, I need to be able to handle all Email Addresses. So I dont need to log out and log in again to view a different E-Mail Address.

- It can handle Pop3 as well as IMAP

- It can handle smtp/pop3/imap Endpoints that don't share the same domain as the Email Address. (e.g. test@test.de, with imap imap.somemailserver.de)

- E-Mails should be stored locally on the Server (e.g. in something like an mbox format), that I can export/import somewhere else

- I can import my current Thunderbird Mailboxes (mbox or similiar)

- Optional: It has an (Android) App

I would appreciate some suggestion

Kind regards

KingEldarion

Send emails to pop3 server from gnus

Hello,

The question: is it possible to resync/send emails downloaded with pop3 into gnus back to the email server? If so, how?

Update: i have found a way of doing this using mu. If i copy all emails into the cur folder and then run index (using U) they get sent back to the email server!

Continue original post:

The background: i decided to try out gnus for my email, and initially had a config using pop without :leave t in the config. Ie emails wont be left on the server. Before syncing for the first time i added :leave t to the config, but forgot to C-x C-e on it. I then synced and of course all my emails got removed from the server and pulled on to my local machine. The good news is that i have a local copy of all my emails, but i would like to send these emails back to the server. I found some methods online using thunderbird, but i am unsure how to import my emails into thubderbird from gnus (and i havent used thunderbird in years). I would prefer to do this through emacs itself, and have been digging around in pop3.el but havent found any leads as of yet.

So, does anyone know how to either send the emails back to my email server using emacs/gnus, or alternatively, does anyone know how to export emails from gnus (using the nnml backend) to thunderbird?

Thank you for any and all help, LMVRK

Edit: all emails are in a text format, with all relevant info, numbered from 1 to however many i have, around 2000. This is what leads me to believe that it should be possible to import or resync.

IMAP and POP3 for webmail with the VPN

Has anyone figured out any ways to make IMAP or POP3 work for the RPI email since the VPN was implemented? I solely used the email through my gmail account using POP3 since first coming to RPI. I can't stand the webmail interface and really don't wanna have to check two different email clients, especially since webmail isn't mobile friendly. I also would like to still be able to send and reply to emails through the gmail client because the webmail editor is garbage.

I saw this, but it is hardly a solution.

If it is not possible right now, who can we complain to and how do we go about trying to get RPI to implement something that allows for this functionality again?

Collect POP3?

Hi, I'm in the process of setting up Office 365 for a small not for profit. The issue I'm having is that for the past 20 years (seriously) they have used two POP3 address that's provided to them for free but is part of a broader domain they have no control over.

I'm going to ask the provider if they can setup a server side mail forwarding rule to the new Office 365 domain but I don't hold out much hope of that being successful.

So I'm trying to see if there's something like a POP3 connector for Exchange Online? From my googling there doesn't seem to be anything out of the box, and any add-ons I can find are for Exchange on-prem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is POP3 the best incoming e-mail protocol for 2 users who share 1 e-mail address across 4 devices?

My aging parents share a single e-mail address and can access their messages from 4 different devices (one is my mom's; 3 are my dad's). Two main issues arise: 1) Mom would like to delete a message from her device without the message being removed from Dad's devices (in the event that he hasn't seen the message yet). 2) Dad would like to ensure that the same message is downloaded on all devices, even if one device hasn't been accessed in a while.

If I understand the difference, IMAP keeps the messages on a server, while POP3 downloads the messages from the server (with the option of keeping the messages on the server).

Considering the needs of my parents - does it make sense to configure all their incoming e-mail to POP3 or am I missing something?

Travis the POP3 champion

This is from years ago when I was a Systems Consultant for a fairly big MSP. I've always wanted to tell it properly, so I think this the right place for this lovely yarn.

*Be warned, this is a long read!*

At the MSP, I was a System Consultant for multiple companies. The MSP hired me out, I travelled like a hired gun, fixing things here, getting projects done there. I was part of an operational server group, and we were pretty good at what we did.

It's 2014, near the end of the day and I'm finishing up a few things. My Operations Lead, comes up and asks me if I'm available to meet a new client, for a 'major issue'. No job code or anything, a brand new client that heard about our company as a MSP in the city. The Client knew-a-guy that knew-a-guy, and eventually hit my Operations Lead. I figured, a lot of my operational work was done, and big projects are on hold anyway. So yeah, let's see what I can do to help.

We hoofed it since their office was on the outskirts of downtown, and we were in the core. I ask a few details; what's the issue, how much time/effort we talking about? My Ops lead was sparse, didn't know the exact details, but knew that there was some email issues.

When we arrive at the office, say our hello's to the CFO. She ushers us into a meeting room, and says she'll be back in a moment with the IT Manager.

Now, this is where it gets weird. There's about four other guys in the same room. I thought they were employees of the company, so to be polite I start handing out my business card and introducing myself. I greet two people, then the CFO steps back in.

I'm paraphrasing here, but this is the jist of what the CFO says to everyone in the room:

"Thank you all for coming here, I'm hoping you can help us at Company X. Our email system has finally crashed, and I'm looking to each of YOU to provide a solution. I've brought our IT Manager to help me make the decision and choose one of you".

Turns out, the four guys in the room were all representatives for different MSP*'*s in the City. The CFO called a bunch of companies to come in, and present different ideas. I got past feeling embarrassed pretty quick, because now we're down to brass tacks with this company's issue.

IT Manager lays it out the best he can. He's also the IT Manager because he's good with CAD licensing, but not so great at infrastructure. He doesn't know much about the server gear, so Company X hired a third party contractor to run the VMware/Storage/AD/Exchange environ

PoP3 - Why Order of the Clarion Call rocks

If you already realised archery is fun and key in PoP, then Order of the Clarion Call, based in Laria, is the way to go.

Knights (Knights of the Clarion Call)

  • Always come with a horse, have a bow, quiver, sword and shield.
  • Can be used for the Horse Wall strategy (explained down below)
  • Awesome horse archers, good in melee
  • Have shields

Sergeants (Larian Sentinels)

  • On foot
  • Have a 50% chance to spawn with two quivers instead of one (works similar to Vaegir Veterans' horses in Native),
  • Have decent bows and a 2 hander.
  • They are surprisingly strong against enemy infantry if more numerous
  • Awesome in siege offense due to amount of arrows
  • 2 Sentinels are comparable to 1 Noldor Warrior in strength

General Order info:

  • Challenging "renown" task not that hard to do
  • Enemies with Raven Spear
  • Enemies with Noldor, that's one slightly unfortunate aspect
  • Enemies with Jatu (can be hard to battle early game)
  • It's a honorable order, meaning you can't raid villages (not optimal in PoP3 generally anyway)

So yeah just wanted to introduce my favourite and also in my opinion the best knighthood order in PoP3. Hope this helps you guys :D

Wiki page

The Horse Wall strategy:

  • by The Rain Man (trmplays), big fan btw brofrescooo
  • Place your infantry and archers up on a steep hill. Down below dismount all your cavalry. After that either use them too as a meatwall or put them together with your other soldiers.
  • The enemy cavalry will charge and stop upon your horses, leaving them vulnerable to your missile fire.
  • ???
  • win

Why disable POP3 and IMAP on an on-prem mailbox?

I'm rewriting our new user script and streamlining our processes. I'm going through our old scripts and noticed that we are disabling both POP3 and IMAP on all our on-prem mailboxes. I can't figure out why and no one can tell me why beyond "it's always been done that way".

We have a hybrid environment and in government if that matters.

Edit: Alright maybe the question I should have asked is "Why not just disable it on the server?" The way it's written right now is it only disables the new user that is being created in the script and we don't use the script all that often because of how bad it is (thus why I'm rewriting it). If we wanted to disable the two protocols it should have just been turned off on the server in the first place.

Getting POP3 command in Antivirus Logs

I'm currently seeing several antivirus logs generated because the Fortigate is blocking malicious files sent as attachments over POP3 emails. The issue that I'm having is that i cannot correctly identify if the email is being sent or received by a given private IP, becasue the connection is always the private IP as the source and the public IP of the mail server as the destination. I can see the FROM and TO message headers, but this can be easily manipulated by an infected machine or a malicious sender from outside. So my question is, is there a way to identify if the email is being sent or recieved by the logs? I tried several columns in the log view but nothing conclusive yet.
