A list of puns related to "Plum Pudding"
In our last episode, Captn asked for tips and tricks to making a plum pudding.
In this episode, we discover that he's not an complete git, and may have made a pudding approaching safe to eat, if not visually appealing.
The sharp eyed of you will note that my apple may not have been diced to a small enough consistency, and that there is candied fruit, vs. candied rind as it appears we have run out of home-made rind (discovered after having come home from the grocers). Please forgive me, I know not what I do.
For those wondering, I followed the recomended delia recipe, and made enough for 2 puddings (and just a bit more, finished mix came to about 3800 grams, and I can only reasonably fit 1200 or so in that basin), and used my pressure cooker to steam (15 min) and then pressure cook the pudding (45 min).
Anyway, please feel free to lambast, or compliment.

Hi all,
American here, looking for advice on Plum Puddings.
I ask as I've decided to give a go at a plum pudding for Christmas this year (as we've neglected to make fruit cakes as is my families normal tradition). Seeing as the recipes are similar to fruit cake, I think it can't be that hard, and yet as I'm reading through various online recipes I note they all vary a bit and as I've never made one before, it's hard to know which to 'trust'.
So I turn to you, o great pudding masters, to request your guidance in this matter as I'd like to present something more than edible for the family on Christmas morn.
thanks in advance!
Evening, this is a love hate with this stuff. I love the flavor but hate smoking it. I have the hardest time with getting it light and stay lit. Just a rant.
Novice pipe smoker. Started mainly with aromatics but after having plum pudding I may never go back. I love the smokey / tangy flavors and the musty gym sock / barnyard aromas. Everything about it pleases me. What should I look for in other tobaccos to find a similar experience?
tried my first couple non-aromatic blends. Plum Pudding and Nightcap. they have more bold flavors than your premium cigar! i know its a lot to say but i really enjoy these two. ive been smoking out of my corncob so i get less ghosted. it's great and mild on the pallet. no pepper. they have their own distinct flavors. what a treat.
A few years back I caved to the sub's peer pressure and bought a tin of SPC Plum Pudding. I used to break in my Sav 320 KS. And that smoke was magical: tangy balkan flavors and this velvety smoothness from the cavendish. I saw the stuff was on sale and immediately bough 2 oz cans.
Then the troubles began. I found the leaf more and more intransigent, taking forever to get lit and numerous relights. I tried drying it out normally with little to no success. I nuked it, which worked quite a bit better - for awhile. When I got to the end of my jar even with the microwave it was an unsmokable mess, so with that lb squirrelled away looming, I knew I had to find another way to make this smokable.
I just enough leaf to try 5 small blending experiments:
50/50 with Sutliff 1022 (515-rc + 507-s): I started here as it felt the most obvious choice, the mixture burns fairly well, and the combination of smoky-salty-sweet flavors seemed like they would dovetail perfectly with Plum Pudding. I was right, it tasted essentially like its old self. The softness was minimized but I haven't had that except for the first handful of bowls. It burned better but it still was a bit finicky.
Flavor Grade: B+
Burn Correction: B+
50/50 with 515-rc: After this experiment I wanted to know what just the drier, bright 515-rc would do. Funny enough it didn't fix the burn issues nearly as well as the mix, the longer ribbon mixing somewhat poorly. The flavor was generally more, sourer, sweeter, saltier, more savoury, even eliciting a new note, s sage-peat that was delicious.
Flavor Grade: A
Burn Grade: B-
50/50 with 707 Sweet VA: The next thing was to try adding a bright lemony VA. This took that tanginess all the way to the roof. I used to believe that the tang in English was due to the Turkish but man I was so wrong. This made it a much sharper summery Balkan, more along the lines of WhiteKnight, Saiseni, or Vintage Syrian/HH Balkan Blend. But the burn was essentially effortless and this bowl burned forever.
Flavor Grade: A-
Burn Correct: A+
60/40 Izmir: Speaking of Turkish, I just tried upping that component, but from experiments with VA I knew a little Izmir goes a long way so I put less that when I mixed PP with VAs. While the VA seemed to unload the flavor, the Izmir muted everything, adding a butter-toast-hay flavor that dominated the bowl. The burn was marginally improved, which could have been better if I had dried the Izmir. This was much more like a clas
