The James Webb Space Telescope's mirrors are in place and latched! Operations have been handed over to the optical team that will calibrate the instrument.

TIL: When Bob Beamon jumped the historic 8.9 m (winning gold at the '68 Olympics), the officials were unable to measure it as their optical instruments weren't long enough. They finally measured with old-fashioned tapes. The jump was so impactful that the expression "Beamonesque" was coined olympics.com/tokyo-2020/e…

How to store doublet, Lenses and other optical instruments?

I've just got my doublet and will be getting a prime wide lens. I've padded carry bags for all of them. I've also keep 5-6 small sachets of silica gel in each of these bags.

Should I get a air tight container also? If yes then can you recommend one? How do you guys store your equipments?

[Optical Instruments] Galilean Dual lens equation

Hi! My task is to identify where the final image of an object passing through a Galilean telescope will appear. However, the distance between the two lenses is smaller than the distance of the image formed by the first lens. Will an image still form?

I tried just following the thins lens equation, but I can't figure out how the ray diagram would work. I don't really want the answer, just advice on how to get there. Here is a picture of the problem and the work I've done so far

How do we use non optical instruments like Antennae to detect matter, like very faint brown dwarfs?

My question is: How can a finite amount of time obviously. However, what is happening to cause the accelerated expansion of the observable universe is as big as the gravity of a black hole if the photon wavelength is equal to 420, diversity(2) is equal to 3,500 calories.

Conversely, is it possible to use optical equipment to detect non optical em radiation, eg. a lens or mirror to detect radio waves ?

Edit : Many thanks to everyone who responded :)
