A list of puns related to "Optical Centre"
News today is that Greece signs agreement with Amazon for innovation space hub
This is speculation but is it for optical ground stations like KSAT?
Also today, we saw the Greek Mt. Helmos telescope becomes first land station in Europe for satellite telecoms program, Scylight (ESAβs Secure and Laser Communication Technology program).
Hi - I am currently considering going for laser eye surgery in the UK. Does anyone have any friend referral codes that they could share with me?
I have a consultation with Optical Express next week but I am going to go in for a few consultations before finalising which one I will be going with so feel free to drop any other surgeon's referrals below.
Hi PFC, does anyone know how the prices of prescription glasses and sunglasses at Costco optical centre compare to other stores? I have a high prescription and am located in the GTA. TIA
I'm overall very happy with my VROptician lens inserts but I'm starting to wonder if the optical centre of the lens is perhaps not ideally aligned.
My prescription is:
R Sph -3.50 Cyl -0.25 Axis 45.0
L Sph -1.00 Cyl -1.25 Axis 22.0
I've been using good old ROV Test FOV & Resolution to get things dialled in, and managed to find a good position and tilt for the headset that minimised glare in the Glare Test room. But after a while I noticed that my left eye was really blurry.
Going back to the test room and looking at the astigmatism test (the circle of radial lines), yup it was completely off. By moving the headset up a few millimetres I brought it into focus, but now there is a thin gap along the lower edge of the face gasket and the Glare Test is significantly worse.
So I was wondering if any other VROptician users with astigmatism have been having similar issues?
I want to make it clear that I'm not in any way knocking VROptician. Their service has been excellent and their lenses are top quality. I'm just trying to gauge if it's a general issue or just me before I get in touch with them. It's possible that I just need to experiment some more.
Once, an optician told me that their goal is to align the optical centre of our eye, lens, and frame.
Based on what I gather, the centre of our eye can be aligned with the centre of our lens by measuring pupillary distance?
However, it seems we don't do anything to align this with the optical centre of the frame. So, my idea is that if I were to buy a pair of glasses whose frame has an optical centre that aligns with my pupillary distance, this might result in better vision/visual results. As such, I would like to know how I can go about measuring the optical centre of my frame. Can this be calculated using the measurements typically written on the arms of glasses frames?
Perhaps everything I wrote is just utter nonsense but if you have anything useful to say about any part of my post, I'd love to hear it.
I have the Tilta cage for my Pocket 4K however I didn't get the 15mm LWS baseplate for it because I already had one from SmallRig (1674), the Tilta one is kind of expensive and I don't really like the design of it. Only problem is that with the SmallRig baseplate the distance between the rods and the optical centre is about 75mm whereas the standard for LWS 15mm rods is 85mm. This makes using some accessories either impossible or just quite difficult and annoying.
Does anyone know if the Tilta baseplate actually matches the standard? I know the SmallRig cage and matching baseplate does.

Every day there are many, many posts asking the same questions over and over again. In this post I've tried to answer most of those questions.
All of the information below is correct to the best of my knowledge at the time of writing. Software/firmware etc. can change and invalidate some of the information below but I will try to keep the information current as I become aware of changes/inaccuracies.
This post is for EVERYBODY. If you don't have any problems with your Quest, please read through anyway and let me know if you can add/change any of the advice I give below. Also, please redirect people to this post if they ask questions that are answered here.
New users, please read through everything below, even if you don't have any problems currently so you are aware of some of the issues that can arise and take steps before it causes a problem.
If, after reading everything below you still have a problem and you need to ask for help, please use the following guidelines ...
Some steps that you can try before asking for help include rebooting your headset, checking your firmware is up-to-date, making sure your controller batteries have enough charge. In most cases, upgrading to Windows 11 and factory-resetting your headset are not valid troubleshooting methods and may cause more problems.
You may be in a situation where you are able to run Half-Life A
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi Reddit, so I moved to a mates cattle station 2 years ago. It was in the middle of nowhere Australia. And I come back to the joys of WI-FI and I have a look at the state of OpTic. LOOK AT THAT HOUSE!!. Where's NaDe we have a CS team. Last I Remember it was ESWC and Enable was on the team cause Karma couldn't get citizenship. Hector looks like such a Father Figure now. I've got to go catch up on my optic Content but if anyone could comment some major stuff that happened that would be most helpful.
