A list of puns related to "Oodles"
Apologies that this is not directly dog related, but I figured many of us use pet sitters so y'all would have good advice on this situation.
I bought a house in November just far enough away that previous pet sitting options wouldn't work this Christmas, so I found a well-reviewed sitter on Rover who I met with and really liked. In both the word doc I left for her and in the walkthrough of my house we never discussed my washer/dryer which are in my garage so I don't think she even saw them. She never asked about doing laundry at my place either.
Now, I get that needing to pay for laundry sucks, and honestly I wouldn't mind if she'd brought it up with me and did a few loads. However, I have brand spanking new machines that are wifi-enabled and I had set up to ping my phone when a cycle was done, so now I know that in the 3 days she has been in my home she has done 9 loads of laundry, almost all on the 'bedding' setting which is water and heat intensive.
This feels like a frankly insane amount of laundry, and it bugs me that she brought that much with her and never discussed it with me at all. It also makes me really anxious because this is a 70 year old home and I needed the plumbers to make several improvements to get everything functional and the whole system is now under a whole load of stress without me there.
The dilemma I have is do I say anything? I'd imagine she has no idea I am aware of all the laundry. Am I making a big fuss over nothing and laundry is just a thing pet sitters are expected to have access to (even at this quantity)? Should I wait to say something until after I'm back home? Should I just let it be and maybe rethink having her back? Please let me know, I've never had wifi machines before so maybe I've just lived in peaceful ignorance and this is the norm.
(I have turned the laundry notifications off since this started bugging me, but it is under my skin now so I find myself checking the app at the end of the day so I see the total count.)
Edit: thank you all who chimed in, I am going to sign off to enjoy my holiday. I appreciate the range of inputs on this that really goes to show there is no standard approach to house sitting and laundry which means the responsibility was on me to set clear expectations even if I think it is excessive. I have sent her a quick "oops, I forgot to mention I've had some plumbing issues recently sorted out so please be on the lookout for backups or leaks" text and will politely bring up that the la
... keep reading on reddit β‘We need well-bred dogs. Breeders should carefully consider both the health but also the temperament of the dogs they are going to mate. But they also need to think about the purpose.
BUT I think that at least equal to the doodle problem is this fixation on 'rescuing' dogs - that every dog deserves to be saved no matter how sick physically it is, and no matter how messed up it is mentally - either through genetics or abuse.
First off, saving the most sick dogs either physical or mental eats up the resources that could instead help 10 less bad off dogs - but dogs that might not be located right in front of you today.
And in addition to saving the lives of those other dogs, there's also the potential for using those same resources to just make the lives of other dogs better. 'Rescuing' one extremely aggressive dog and turning it around may take ten thousand dollars of training, but also use up the time of trainers who could be helping 100 average pets with the same time/finances.
But really the problem is that the rescue everything mentality keeps giving some terrible F class dogs the ability to spread their genetics and perpetuate more of the terrible dogs who end up sucking up so many resources. These dogs are just frequently escaping from well meaning but ill prepared households (who might have been able to handle a less problematic dog) and making puppies. Or, they are simply the building blocks that someone uses to crank out more puppies because puppies are viewed as a financial asset to sell.
What's worse, the X-class dogs (dangerous dogs, who've severely bitten other dogs, possibly killed them, often multiple times, and sometimes humans) are also both free to spread their messed up genes (because generally it's a combination of both genes and environment) and free to do more damage.
However, the real problems are we've created a system where puppy mills are still churning out as many if not more dogs, but only tiny percent are going to pet stores. A large chunk are now going to rescues. Sometimes the rescues are absolutely in on it, and sometimes the rescues are being duped, and sometimes just taken advantage of, organizers willing to save this dog right now in front of them rather than refusing short term but causing a larger long-term positive impact. (Similar to how most governments have a policy to not pay for kidnapped people, as it saves that one person but encourages 10 more copy-cat crimes)
Is there a particular breed your dog does not like, for no reason that you know of or can recall?
Itβs beyond me how my dog could be so selective but if he meets/sees Poodles, doodles, oodles - it does not matter what age, sex, or size - He hates them. Instant trigger.
Itβs so weird- heβs never actually had any experience, good or bad, with them ever and it dawned on me one day as I reflected on nearly every dog heβs come across where I had to tell the owner who has asked if their dog could come say hi, βsorry, Iβm not sure why heβs upset but I donβt think itβs a good idea to let yours come say hiβ. I have to actively keep distance between as I feel him getting growly through the leash when within a few feet/passing one byβ¦
They are always the friendliest sweetest doggos too! Itβs just too bizarre! I asked our trainer if he had heard of dogs being so selective, and while some dogs become reactive towards a particular sex or size of another doggo, itβs usually pretty general - but a specific breed and he couldnβt recall.
Anyone else? π€π€
As the title says. If youβve got an army you want to get rid of, letβs have a chat. Iβm especially interested in AoS stuff. I want as much as I can get, so Iβd youβve got a lot of stuff laying around, preferably assembled, painted or no, letβs see it.
Poodle Cross breeds - affectionately referred to as oodles - are becoming increasingly more popular where I live. This isn't against cross breed dogs, I had a staffy x lab for many years that I adored, this is against the ridiculous amount of money people spend on oodles. We are talking thousands of dollars. I have a show dog who cost less as a puppy than these oodles dogs are costing people. I know it isn't everywhere but most of the ones where I live are also from puppy mills trying to make money from these "designer breeds." Yes, cute dogs, who doesn't love fluffy little dogs. I just don't believe that we should be encouraging the breeding of dogs like this.
Just a reminder for everyone, if you want to get JP points for your newly acquired Elena as efficiently as possible, you can stack the following:
Equipment options (These don't stack, choose the highest bonus that you can):
Weapon: Hollow Slave (Raviesse's TMR) for +30 % JP
Armor: Level 30 Producer's Jacket for +50 % JP
Card options:
Party ability card: Job Crystal for +50% JP
Companion's ability card (Has to be on your friend's list): Job Crystal for +50 % JP
Unit ability card: In Search of Myrrh / Celebrating Crossed Paths / A Year's Journey for +50 % JP
If you have Ovalites, use the biggest ones you have. With the XL one I was able to get 14 000 JP from a single run of the JP key quest. This would be 40 % JP in total bonus.
I think that's all the stackable bonus that we can gte, but please tell me if there is something else so I can edit this post.
Get my mind off things :)
