A list of puns related to "Millar"
I'll be frank. I don't like Mark Millar as a writer. I love adaptations of a lot of his properties, but never the original comics they're based off of.
For me the dude is an all shock no substance edgelord who only ever found fame because he had Hollywood friends to adapt his 24 page dead baby jokes laden comics into bearable and competently written movies and TV shows. :/
Happens with every single property of his:
Come up with a basic story, write a godawful shock value laden mess of a mini series with a lot of yikes jokes and wall to wall cynical and unpleasant characters.
Hit up Matthew Vaughn or whoever in his contact list isn't busy.
Adapt the book by basically taking a hacksaw to Millar's yikes writing and practically re write it from the ground up with likable characters and an actual story.
Enjoy the profit while Millar takes more credit than I think he deserves.
I mean his Big 2 stuff can be okay but that's when he has somebody giving him limitations. His own work? Nothing but wall to wall edgelord dead baby class black comedy and utterly unlikable or interesting characters.
The guy's got decent concepts but he always needs somebody else to clean them up into something marketable and enjoyable.
Super Crooks' anime adaptation is phenomenal because it guts a lot of the comic's bull**** and makes actually engaging characters despite them being villains.
Meanwhile in the original comic one of the major parts of it is them blackmailing a superhero for being in the closet then proceed to mock him throughout the miniseries over it and giving him a pink costume for their heist because "lol he's gay."
Classy.
And that's probably the most tasteful thing I can complain about with his writing (anyone whose read his other works know what I mean.)
I got nothing against Millar as a person. But as a writer he irks me greatly.
For Those interested in reading what the pitch was, the one DC rejected in 2000... Here it is:
http://theages.superman.nu/History/2000/SUPERMAN2000.php
Highlights include: Trunkless Superman, Superman as the identity/Clark as the disguise, Lois and Clark NOT married, Superman is a VEGAN/vegetarian, the villains as evil reflections of Superman, The Fortress as a museum...
I know this seems like a lot but itβs only about 220 issues, and for the time flash has existed it really isnβt that much, so are there any hidden gems that no one talks about or is this it?
BTW Iβm looking for stories about Wally or Barry, not Jay
I guess businesses are certainly free to host any events they want, but to host an Anti-vax, Anti-mask, PPC Party event, to spread incredibly dangerous mis-information is just wrong.
I'm boycotting Millar Berry farm products.
They also sell to many local grocery stores including some of the chains, not just 'pick your own'. So if you do not want to support Millar Berry Farms make sure you don't accidentally buy their product in stores. And the stores will hopefully stop buying from them as well
It's sad we have people like this in our community, but at least I know who I'm not buying fresh berries and fruit from. And I'll be making a point to tell any stores I see their produce in as well that I don't appreciate even seeing their product on the shelf.
Of all Mark Millar's comic books, I love Supercrooks the most.
Why? Because its a down to earth grounded superhero story about a group of low powered supervillains (the kind which might rob a bank but not really threaten the planet) having to work together to pull an Oceans 11 heist.
Each of the "Supercrooks" has a particular set of skill, but none of them is extremely powerful, or would last a minute in a huge set piece battle. I feel a Ocean's 11 heist movie with superpowers would make for an awesome live-action miniseries.
And so they decided to make an anime out of it filled with big battles and action set pieces.
Meanwhile, Jupiter's Legacy is all about big super hero action and battles, and they made it live-action, which for sure must have had a impact on the budget and not only did it show in the quality of the CGI, but it probably helped with getting the show cancelled.
Iβve been a Brooks Brothers and Barbour customer for years. Always been happy with both brands. Iβve been eying a few pieces from Peter Millarβs line, mostly their quilted vest and AprΓ¨s ski sweaters. I know itβs all mainly made in China, but howβs the quality otherwise?
Hi so I am appearing for my F3 paper and I found modigliani and millar very difficult so just wanted to as how often does a question based on that comes for sums.
I grew up on Ennis who I think has a ton of issues with his writing style. I think as much as Garth ennis is creative and actually does interesting looks into peoples mental states he is an edgy thirteen year old whoβs βjokesβ usually miss the mark. Now I can still sit down and enjoy preacher and punisher and sometimes even βthe boysβ and βcrossedβ. Mark millar though somehow is so edgy I think the edgiest of edgy kids would ask him to tone it down. He tackles themes a violence and depravity with this weird humor that stems off of it. Ennis also had this sadism humor issue but a lot of the time itβs more of a rarity in his comics and if you know what your reading you can avoid it.Thatβs why I think some of the later boys issues really suck itβs because of his shit humor. BUT OH MY GOD all mark does is this jackshit humor. He thinks itβs so funny just to make bad things happen to his female characters. Iβm not gonna get into the really bad misogyny and racism present with mark and even Ennis has some issues but at the end of the day Ennis has the right idea. Punisher at the end of the day is anti war and capitalism. Preacher at the end of the day shows how bad toxic masculinity really is. The boys at the end of the day shows how evil male celebrities can be. Crossed is well crossed but that comic wasnβt played for humor. Mark just does bad shit and goes βdid you see that I did something not okayβ overall I would love to hear your thoughts on the difference between mark miller and Ennis if you think there is one.
I feel like it's very polarizing... Many FF fans think it's some of the best FF comics in the last 20 years... others find it to be average at best and the worst modern run at worst. Thoughts?
I'm out of the loop, but comments I've seen mention they are pro-covid support anti-mask, anti-vax?
