Midwicket Puns

Hey people

This is more of a skill improvement request.

I'm a left handed batsman, and I'm quite good at hitting big aerial shots in the arc between midwicket and fine leg.

However, I just cannot hit powerful big hits between midwicket and long on/straight. Teams have started bowling full to me to prevent my big hits to square leg region. I now need to adapt and I want to pound big sixes over long on, but for the life of me I cannot get enough power and keep getting caught.

Is there a technique to it? Can anyone give me any pointers? Any useful videos for left hand batsmen wanting to hit this way?

Hope you guys can help. I guess its a combination of lack of skill/swing and power.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

This young lad from J&K dispatched a pickup shot over midwicket into the stands facing Nortje who's bowling at sub 145 pace. We lost the match, but the world goes gaga over Abdul Samad. How he's Power incarnate and how he's going to take the world into storms with his power hitting. Suddenly people come forward with stories about his hitting ability at domestic tournaments, social media is full with fan fictions about his future in the game, Irfan is talking about how he scouted him for SRH and our Insta page is drooling over his training regimen. We fans are led to belive that we've finally managed to produce our own domestic superstar akin to Hardik Pandya and for the first time in the history of our club, we thought we had a finisher.

All this happened 2 seasons ago and right now, Abdul Samad is your genetic overhyped domestic player in the circuit. How did we reach from the best young hitter of India to just another pinch hitter? Let's analyze. Samad's peak cricketing moment is that six against Nortje and although he has hit other prominent seamers like Bumrah, Rabada, Avesh etc occasionally, the overall experience with him has been pretty meh.. Noone here would dispute the fact that, out of our three musketeers(Garg, Abhi and Samad), Samad was the one given maximum opportunities to prove himself, when fans all around could see Abhishek was a more complete batsman and Garg had a better mindset. All because, Samad showed he could hit the big dogs. Yet despite the numerous chances, he has failed to leave his mark. His innings against DC during Q2- 2020 could've pushed him to greatness, had he been able to win the match after Kane got out. But after hitting a couple of handsome sixes, he got out as he does often.

One would argue, he's just 20 and he'd get better. You might be right. Major issues he had with his batting during the IPL wasn't technical, but temperamental. Like any young hitters, he wasn't very patient with his batting. Instead of rotating strike and waiting for his moment to shine like any good finisher does, he chooses to hit big to dominate the bowler and often failing at the process. That'd need work and guidance and there's noone better than Lara to teach him a thing or two about controlled aggression. His IPL worries look over on paper, but something far worrying is lurking around the corner.

But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
