This beautiful, elusive and rare creature is the African black leopard. Melanism in leopards will only be expressed if both parents carry the recessive gene. About 11% of global leopard population is melanistic, but most of these animals live in South East Asia. (photo by: Will Burrard-Lucas)

Black Panther. In case anyone didn't know, panthers actually aren't a species, they are jaguars, leopards, or any other cat with melanism, the contrary of albinism. There's more info about them in @naturaleza.salvajee on ig. Thank You!

My new icewing Oc, Black Ice. I havent seen any ocs that have melanism (excess pigment causing scales, skin, feathers, and fur to be black/dark grey) and only one that has albinism (opposite of melanism) so i thought it would be cool to have an icewing with melanism

Black squirrels are relatively βrareβ as far as squirrels go. They account for about 1/10000 of all eastern grey squirrels. They are not a different species; a condition, melanism, leads their dark colour. Largest populations occur in Ont., Canada and Ohio, USA.

Very unusually colouring on a pair of birds that look like Long-billed Corellas in Melbourne, Australia. The colouring is too uniform to be just dirty. A hybrid or melanism, perhaps?

This Manta Ray, named Inspector Clouseau, is the only known pink specimen. Researchers think the pink color results from an unusual expression of Melanin - the common protein that's involved in skin-tanning, albinism and melanism (melanism is why panthers are pitch black)

Are people with melanism allowed to say the n-word?
Melamism is the opposite of albinism
Which means they are people that were born with a very dark skin cause of a genetic mutation
So let's suppose that a white person or an Asian person is born with melanism
Is he allowed to say the N-word

π₯ On zebras, the melanism mutation expresses itself in a surprisingly wide variety of coat patterns. On some specimens it creates large blotches of black pigment covering the body, and on others it disrupts the white stripes into beautiful dotted patterns. Some have little to no patterns at all! π₯
