A list of puns related to "Mediterranean Climate"
Easiest for an American to retire to?
How early were people aware that the weather gets colder the farther north you go? Was there any science (primitive meteorology or forecasting) involved, or was it purely anecdotal information received from people who had come from the north? Did any ancient writers talk about what the weather was like in other places? When someone like Hadrian, for example, went to Britannia, for example, did he know to pack cold-weather clothing? If they didn't pack warm clothes, what did they do when it got colder -- use animal hides? trade with/take them from locals?
Iβm asking because I was on Wikipedia today, and I noticed Atlanta was listed as having a βMediterranean climate (Csa).β Thatβs the same type of climate that most of California has. Itβs strange, because Georgiaβs weather is vastly different from Californiaβs. I noticed that other cities in the Southeastern US (Charlotte, Birmingham, Jackson, etc.) were listed as Mediterranean climates as well. It looks like someone re-edited all of the Southeastβs climate types and changed them from βhumid subtropicalβ to βMediterranean.β Why would they do this? Were those areasβ climates recently reclassified by Koppen?
So I recently bought a Dominion box to get started on my Stormcast whose lore I've currently found a bit of a roadblock in. I, admittedly accidentally since I was only told this after my paint scheme was set, have a sort of Roman-esque aesthetic for my Stormcast and to go along with them I quite liked the idea of wherever they're settled it's an area of a Mediterranean or Tropical-sort of Climate to help play into that theme a bit.
However while I can find examples of jungles, swamps, plains, deserts and so on in one realm or another I can't particularly find many examples of tropical or just generally warm Mediterranean-esque climates.
So I'm curious whether or not there's any examples of these kinds of places in lore, and if not what realms could such a biome be fit into for my army lore and how would said realm shape the nature of the climate?
Between ASB and Pre 1900s..
What if an Omnipotent Pantheistic entity from the higher dimensions (this is proven) from the Far Future arrived to the time when Humans first began Agriculture after an increase in their Brain size? Around 12,000 BC.
The Solar radiation intensity in the majority of the World is the same as Italy and Switzerland. The Omnipotent entity uses technologies we haven't yet dreamed of, and enables the Solar Radiation to be at Mediterranean and Austria-Switzerland levels throughout the World and same as ours, to the North of the latitude of Denmark.
The Omnipotent entity which is the descent of multiple timelines of universes, and does this to create a special timeline with a more unified and a better Humanity.
All Humans evolve to look like the Central and South Central Europeans, as a result. And hence more unified.
Agriculture and fisheries are also sustainable and due to the predictable climate, Solar Power is made good use of. All deserts are vast heavenly meadows like Ellmau in Tyrol region of Austria.
Edit/Update: They leave one more artefact that would be important. Most important, if you ask me. They would create and engineer a few Superheroes who will guide the World to the Transhuman Future.
The initial Humans evolve like the Europeans I mentioned, but these superheroes will engineer different colours (like green, red, fluorescent, etc) and races of people with the same IQ and knowledge, anyway. This is because achieving the Scientific and Technological Singularity is more important than races or nations. The superheroes were engineered to guide the Humans to the Far Future, by achieving the Singularity by the OTL Antiquity. I deliberately put this in pre-1900s instead of ASB.
I added the update after I remembered how Supergirl series changed my mindset. π
To announce, I am moving away from the troubled past of this account to a new one, shortly, where I will be posting the pure positivist stuff like these.
I've seen men wear suits at restaurants and outside airports on holidays, and I always wondered how it's possible that they are not entirely drenched in sweat. Aside from buying the right fabrics and staying cool with AC, are there any tips you guys can share?
