A list of puns related to "Magnetic Quantum Number"
So the electron in the hydrogen atom has a quantum magnetic number of zero, what physical consequences does this entail?
What actually does a magnetic quantum number mean like I know it tells u the number of orbitals within that sub level but what does it actually mean? Like angular momentum quantum number tells u the number of times thereβs a change in angular momentum
Iβm teaching my AP Chem students a brief lesson on assigning quantum number sets for electrons along with orbital notation. Iβm also reteaching myself, since my last chem class was in 2007 and this is my first year teaching chem. My students understand the process of assigning the numbers, but my question is about the third quantum number and how it relates to which orientation the electron is in. For a p sub shell, for instance, which βorientation drawingβ is associated with m sub l= 0... or +1 or -1? Does anyone have a graphic that shows this? Am I even understanding it correctly, that the assigned value corresponds to a certain orientation? Thank you all.
I thought the answer was 10, but it is 12 and I don't understand why. Can someone explain please?
If a magnetic field has an effect on Neutron spin (the SternβGerlach experiment), does Earth's magnetic field has an effect too?
The answer is obviously NO but why?
If someone can break it down for me and help me understand in more basic terms that would be great!
I'm trying to review this for a test, I've tried to understand it but It just doesn't go through my brain. I even used adderall to help me focus on that for 4 hours and still is way too hard. Where does the s p d l even come from and sometimes they have exponents? Please help me, I tried my best.
I don't undertand is how do you know that n=3 for Sodium it doesnt say that in the periodic table. And how does this fuse with the periodic table's elements? And if you have a link to a video please let me know
I have been asked to write a essay with the above title. I am unsure of what topics to focus on to write a good short insightful essay. Thanks
