A list of puns related to "Licorice Allsorts"
Iβm from the uk and born in 1988. Would love to find this book to read to my daughter...!
My brother and I both remember a movie or tv show that we watched in our childhood (born in 1998 and 2000) involving licorice allsorts. We are American, from Massachusetts, and never had heard of or seen the candy before. I feel as though it was animated, but not positive.
We used to go to the library a lot and checked out movies and tv shows from the 80s-90s as well, so it's possibly older than we are.
I distinctly remember a moment in which a character bites into half of one of the black and white striped allsorts and leaves a bite mark.
Any and all help is appreciated!
Norman was at the grocery store about to get in the checkout line when he remembered he had a coupon for prune juice. He knew the fastest way to the prune juice was through the confectionery isle and on the way he noticed his favorite treat was on special - and not the 'buy two and save' special but a dollar off.
Amused at the though of embellishing that night while watching his favorite CSI re-run, he picked a bag from the back of the shelf and added it to his basket.
Later that night while watching TV and enjoying a few, his fingers made contact with the elusive jelly disk candy; the ones that are as rare as they are delicious.
Norman thought for a moment, his fingers caressed the familiar piece. "Not tonight" he agreed with himself, "I've had too much fun for one night."
I'm looking for recipes to make licorice allsorts but recipes for it seem to be hard to find. I've found a few that are licorice allsorts in spirit but they're made with wildly different ingredients that can't be subbed.
Are there any recipes for the traditional licorice allsorts?
My mum is celiac and her favourite thing in the universe is licorice allsorts.
They look like this: https://www.candywarehouse.com/assets/item/regular/licorice-allsorts-candy-126021-im1.jpg
I think they're just disgusting, but she loves them for some reason. We have searched far and wide and have never found them.
Has anyone found gluten free licorice allsorts? If so, I will name my first born child after you. Preferably in Canada, but I would probably still order them if they're only available abroad. Thanks!
I live in Canada and enjoy an occassional licorice allsort indulgence. It is with dismay that I have noticed that my two favourite types are the least abundant in a package of allsorts.
The jelly ones that are covered in sprinkles and the simple bits of black licorice are my favourites and I ate a package of allsorts today that had one of each. You can only imagine my disappointment.
I've googled the question and have come up empty handed. Any help to be found here?
I decided to put my tasting notes and smartphone snapshots to good use writing my first review. Without further introduction.

Impressions
Love the dark wrapper; very consistent coloration. Smells good; typical leafy/barnyard tobacco smell with a sweet hint.
V-cut reveals an interesting accordion like fold to the cigar filler. Pattern is consistent and clearly intentional. Lights evenly and burns evenly right out of the gate. Draw is clean and consistent. Initial flavor profile is very strongly reminiscent of the licorice "allsorts" my English great grandmother always had on hand. Strong but not overpowering licorice flavor with a hint of coconut/creaminess.
Photo 2: ~45 minutes in/tight and consistent ash
Licorice flavor stays consistent throughout the first third. Ash is tight and cool.
Photo 3: ~56 minutes in/ash drops naturally
Ash drops around almost an hour into the smoke. Even when the ash hits my smoking jacket it remains tightly bundled and stays bundled upon being dumped into the ash tray. Reveals a small cone within the charred wrapper. Cone shape seems to reflect on the accordion-style rolling method. Smoke remains cool even without the ash cap. Second third still has strong licorice overtones but gets a little more spicy.
Photo 4: Nubbed by the light of the torches
Gets dark early this time of year. Finished the cigar by the light of the deck torches. Time from light to nub was a bit over 2 hours. Last third get a little wet and a little hot but still tasted pretty good. I tend to nub everyt

I finally sat down to watch this and I was legitimately excited. I knew the references and stuff and was buzzing to experience it for the first time.
I've posted a run down of my thoughts below. Skip to the bottom if you want my conclusive thoughts.
So it starts, and I sit through 15 minutes of monkeys screeching.
Then it's 8 minutes of things "floating" in space to the tune of The Blue Danube Waltz.
After this some dude makes a phone call to his daughter. It costs him $1.70. He's then told people can't talk to the moon base, but he doesn't show any worry.
Another 8 minutes of The Blue Danube Waltz.
There's something about a pandemic. And he's complimented on his speech before going off to see a monolith.
Another 8 minutes of people walking or doing things extremely slowly. Then the monolith rings.
Cut to another spaceship. Some floating and a guy running in his boxers for 5 minutes.
HAL is now introduced and we're finally getting some exposition, about an hour in. Then there's a birthday message for some reason.
Dave does some drawings and talks to HAL. There's an error that needs to be fixed. Finally something is happening.
5 minutes of heavy breathing whilst this is being fixed.
No error seems to be there, so Dave and Frank go talk about HAL. But he can see them. Okay, great. We're getting somewhere.
INTERMISSION
If I was in theaters I might just have walked out at this point, but there's some plot starting to happen so I'll see it out.
Heavy breathing again, but oh no, the ship is moving and it's gonna kill the guy.
But it happens off camera.
Dave then believes the malfunctioning computer that all is fine, shows no emotion or urgency in retrieving his friend who he believes is still alive and this is shocked when the malfunctioning computer refuses to let him in. Also Dave putting on a spacesuit but not his helmet is just.... What?!
He gets in anyway and disables HAL to no dramatic effect. HAL talking to him during this is just.... Dull... I was expecting more. Of course Dave is gonna shut him off. I was expecting more pod shenanigans, or defensive maneuvers, but apparently not.
HAL is shut off, a video with some exposition is played.
Suddenly we're at jupiter. Dave has an acid trip as he follows a licorice allsort through hyperspace.
Then the pod's in a fancy room. Then there's no pod. Then he goes to the bathroom and an old man appears in the bedroom eating food. Obviously this is Dave but it's ju
