I’m still pretty green when it comes to jazz and am wondering if Lee Morgan’s mid-60’s work fits within a specific sub-genre of jazz? I’m really into tracks like Cornbread, Rumproller, Sidewinder, Fathead . . . There’s something of bluesy-swingin’-swagger to these tracks that I can’t get enough of and am curious if there’s more out there by other artists that might hit this same mark? Is it just a continuation and evolution of hard bop when most of the previous hard bop artists had moved onto other forms (post bop, avant-garde - whathaveyou)?

I'm selling my copy of Lee Morgan's 12 LP The Complete Live at the Lighthouse

The box itself came damaged from Blue Note and there are some seam splits but otherwise the records themselves are pristine. It has never been played.

Due to the damage I am selling for $250 plus shipping - please request pictures

I will package much better than Blue Note - this is a great deal considering the lowest price on Discogs is $360 and the only damage is done to the box itself aside for some minor seam splits.

I don't know how many of ya'll have seen the video. Basically Jesse is a woman hater who tries to hide behind Christianity as a shield for his resentment of women. He told Morgan in the debate that women are hell and that men are from God, nothing good comes from supporting and uplifting women, etc. Paul and Morgan push back with scripture and tbh make a lot of feminist arguments. I thought it was going to be more Morgan pushing back but Paul was fired up, to the point Jesse called him a beta male lol. What I found really fascinating is that both Paul and Morgan called out all of the dishonest logical fallacies that Jesse used. They talked to him about how they think he has become brainwashed and won't even consider other opinions. They talked about him only looking for information to confirm his biases. They basically hit the nail on the head with problems for a lot of fundies. It was so ironic while also frustrating that they ALSO do the same thing, most strongly in regards to personal liberties (healthcare especially) and LGBTQ+. They're certainly more tolerable people than Jesse, but I was so frustrated with their inability to see that they do the same thing. I thought it was interesting they were willing to sit down with someone from the extreme religious conservative side and debate, but they won't do it with Progressive christians. I think they could all have a productive discussion with God is Grey. Morgan especially.

I'm honestly baffled by this absolutely uneducated and disgusting man but I'm more baffled by the fact that I actually feel bad for Paul and Morgan?

Basic recap from the first 20 minutes because I don't have time to retell an hour long podcast- Jesse Lee Peterson basically goes right in questioning their faith and starting off with that women shouldn't lead in anything or even vote. He continues to talk about how non-christian men have ruined this country and cites Obama specifically. That was enough to make me audibly gasp but then he comes for Morgan and asks her over and over and over and over again if she obeys her husband to which Paul finally steps in like "bro stop coming for my wife". Morgan checks out really quickly when she realizes this man just think women are baby machines. Overall, Paul works really hard to back his wife and say that she's not just cattle and then Peterson and Paul argue via poorly cite biblical text they do not understand or have most likely read. It's a battle of the interpretation!! And both are wrong!

The comments all DRAG Paul for being a beta male and tell him that he has mommy issues and his wife needs to obey him. I only kind of feel bad here because they were saying he's submissive to his wife and needs to get her under control and like you can tell he didn't like how Peterson spoke to Morgan.

I have a weird soft spot for Morgan. Even though her views are EXTREMELY harmful and her husbands an absolute douche canoe, I do feel bad that she struggles with mental health and absolutely do not think she should ever be spoken to like this. I also think she deep down does not believe in anything fundie related and if she actually broke out of it she could come out on the other side as a faith-based person with regular views and live a very nice life away from fundie-land.

I also think its kind of hilarious that we sit here and drag Paul for being absolute scum but that fundies are dragging him him for not being more christian??

Idk if anyone else has some thoughts on this but steam is still coming out of my ears from this entire interaction. Thanks for letting me vent!
