Flowers for Algernon as a Laboratory Mouse.
I first read this book in my adolescence (5-8 of your human weeks). Though I understand the main plot points and the aim of the author, I didn't really know the implications of the situation of Algernon.
Now, I am a Laboratory Mouse and I am experimented on extensively by scientists. I re-read Flowers for Algernon after what seemed like an eternity. But this time, the whole thing was a brand new light to me. I always had a tiny mouse brain as opposed to just being able to read a short story without my occupation being the subject but now it hit me differently. I am a little more empathetic towards them, more careful and more attentive I give a fuck now because I work in a lab.
TL;DR Flowers for Algernon hits different now that I am a lab mouse.
