A list of puns related to "Kantele"
Hello, I want to ask for some help! Since I have never had a kantele in my hand before, I don't really touch it, so I'm forced to help the more professional. The point is, I have four questions. 1.What instrument would be worth starting to practice so that the kantele would not cause much trouble? 2.What is the best way to learn? 3.Where can I buy in Hungary or around Hungary? Edit: Or to be the cheapest. 4.How much does a usable kantele cost? Thanks in advance for your help!
I started learning it and I hope to make a cover with all the other instruments.
It's here: http://www.kantele.net/kantelekilpailu-2022
For those who don't know, this is the International Kantele Competition for Ensembles (this time - it alternates between ensembles and soloists on different years). This means it's open not only to kantele, but similar instruments as well.
I've always wanted to go, but somehow it's always too late. This is one of those things people who do participate kind of tend to keep to themselves :) Well, not this time!
The contest itself is on 6β8 May 2022 in Tampere, Finland.
The registration is open till 31 January 2022.
P.S. merry Christmas, guys!
If you have more than one, how about your favorite?
Let's look back at some memorable moments and interesting insights from last year.

Hello everyone! Iβve always been interested in the kantele and recently took the plunge by purchasing a kantele from one of the makers listed under the pinned post, and am extremely happy with what I received; in comparison to other makers itβs very affordably priced, and it sounds absolutely beautiful even when Iβm just picking at random strings.
Itβs been about 5 days since I received the kantele, and I do have a slight problem. It smells very strongly of fish. π Specifically, it smells a lot like mackerel. Specifically, it smells a lot like mackerel that has been left to cool for a few hours.
A quick search seems to suggest that the cause of this smell is linseed oil, which was used to treat the wood. I do find that touching the wood leaves my fingers with not only a fishy smell but also a moisturised kind of feeling. The paper envelope of spare strings that came with the kantele is also covered in oil stains.
Iβm not sure if this next point is relevant, but because my kantele is a 15-stringer and because I requested a specific shape and wood finish, it was made-to-order, which would mean that it was very recently oiled.
Will this smell eventually go away, and if so, how long will it take? Is there anything I can do besides taking the kantele out of its bag and putting it in a windy spot that will help to accelerate the process of de-fishifying the instrument?
To be absolutely clear, I really really love the instrument and definitely want to continue playing it... but the smell is really something else. π

Hei
I live temporary in the north of Finland (Inari region) and as I'm studying finnish, I also learned about the kantele. I would like to buy a 5 string kantele and start learning how to play it. Can you recommend me online shops that sell good quality kantele?
Any recommendations on what accessories I should purchase on top of the kantele itself? A digital tuner and a case of course, but anything else that is useful?
Paljon kiitoksia !!
What are the differences between the Finnish kantele and the Estonian kannel?
This one will be on Facebook, March 17.
Shamelessly copied information about it:
Explore Finnish folk music with Kardemimmit in a special live concert on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00pm CT. The concert will be livestreamed via Facebook and YouTube and will be streamed for limited in-person viewing at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. Link to join the livestream coming soon.
Kardemimmit are four strong, young women who play a rare gem: the Finnish national instrument kantele, an ancient stringed instrument with a silvery sound. While playing 15- and 38-string kanteles, Kardemimmit sing mesmerizing harmonies in original compositions that blend a modern approach with a deep foundation in Finnish, Eastern European, and Scandinavian traditions.
This special live concert is being held in celebration of St. Urhoβs Day and to kick off Kardemimmitβs weeklong digital residency with the Cultural Center in New York Mills, where they will hold workshops with schools and virtual events with community members.
Since 2017, Arts Midwest Folkefest has brought musicians from Finland and Sweden to communities in the Midwest. This year, when we canβt be with you in person, weβre still bringing music and culture from around the world to your screens β in our partner community of New York Mills, Minnesota, and beyond.
