Cheating via 3rd party input devices is ruining the console Crucible experience

Basically the title. My main attraction to playing on console, besides being a kid when the N64 and Playstation launched, has always been the even playing field. We’re all playing with the same hardware, controllers, etc. It’s as competitive as gaming gets, bar instances where a game survives to see a new generation of consoles.

So I find it incredibly frustrating that every day I’m coming across more and more players who are using a certain few (3 that I know of) devices to get an edge in the Crucible. I know there are cases where these devices make games more accessible to a wider audience. However, it’s not fair that I’m now regularly playing against people using these devices to program scripts and macros, or are playing on keyboard and mouse with aim assist.

I’m not a r/dtg bot with a .6 k/d and bronze elo. I know there’s nobody β€œhacking” on console. But I know bullshit when I see it, like players who suddenly this season went from 1.x k/d to 2.0+ with 90%+ precision kills. Warlock scroll skating should be near impossible to consistently achieve with a controller, yet I see certain players hitting it every single time. I’m seeing insane flicks that I can’t even hit on 20 sens. I come across a lot of players managing recoil in a way that I couldn’t even do in my prime.

A lot of players in my circle of friends and clan openly talk about using these devices, but who is going to listen to me when they are pretty much untouchable and dropping 50+ kills against stacked teams in 6s?

I don’t know how Bungie could address this issue. Rant over, thanks for reading.

fuck you cheaters

Is there any real benefit to having a really nice input device? Obviously we had a player using a laptop keyboard in tmgl this year, but as a newer player (~40-50ish hours) who's starting to hit somewhat of a early skill wall, is a better controller worth investing in or am I just ultrabad?

For clarification im using a knockoff third party wired Xbox controller at the moment

What is the most compact device that can be used to provide line-level inputs to the OP-Z's USB audio input?

Searching for this just finds tons of results for people seeking to do unrelated things (like use the OP-Z as an audio interface, or plug the OP-Z's analog outputs into an audio interface).

A regular audio interface, sadly, won't work, as it says right in the documentation that "the connected device needs to be a usb audio host in order for OP–Z to recognize it." That's a huge bummer, since the OP-Z's USB port does have USB host functionality that works for MIDI and DMX devices.

What I want is to plug a standalone device that isn't a full-on computer into the OP-Z's USB Type C port, and with the OP-Z using that interface's inputs as its sampling source when using the "usb audio" input (shift+3). https://teenage.engineering/guides/op-z/input-selection

Whether or not there's a solution, thanks for your comments!

Wiring logic, two 120V inputs, need to control two devices individually, and one device together

I just put in a switching relay, I have one pump that needs to be powered 90 seconds after input 1 and/or 2 is turned on. I figured this can be solved by using a time delay relay, so we're all good there. Unfortunately, the current setup will also make it so input 1 OR 2 will also power device 1 or 2, however I need these to be separately powered by each input. Current wiring: https://imgur.com/a/3RYlcas

I was thinking maybe a relay would do the job but I'm not fully sure how they work if I'm honest.

Crossplay should be based on input device, not platform

I know we don't have keyboard+mouse support on BF2042 (yet?) for consoles, but overall it's beyond me why crossplay would not just be based on your input device.

You play kbm on PS5? Fine, you'll play with other PC and XBox kbm.

You play with controller? Fine.

I know there are some edge cases but overall it makes no sense to me to base it on the platform itself.

Greetings fellow darkest before enjoyers: what input device are you, and what's your favorite roll?

Learning how others play/use weapons etc has helped me grow in the past so I'm curious to hear what you guys like on your darkest before (especially relative to your input method) if you've put some time in with it and enjoyed it!

I'm a controller player on PC and I've put 1k kills on my ele cap (void) with max handling + ricochet rounds. I feel like the affect the crazy high stability has on the final accuracy is very noticeable as a controller player and it's honestly a crit magnet, and I could use a bit more snappyness but handling MW + fluted + a targeting mod is decent. If I could add surplus to this roll it'd be perfect!

Curious on what you all have been running and anything else in your build/playstyle that's been synergistic!

It's meant to increase typing speed while reducing errors, using only 6 large buttons, and also not to be too difficult to learn, maintaining a QWERTY-like layout.

Android auto issue. Could use some input if your devices work to figure out if it's the car or my phone

I bought a 2022 mazda 3, and was all excited to use android auto but I am having a huge issue and despite looking for solutions all over the internet I don't really know where else to turn and feel like you guys might be able to help.

The first time I connected my phone (oneplus 9 pro) to the car everything worked as it should, but the second time my phone started glitching out as if it kept trying to connect and disconnect to android auto.

After troubleshooting a bit, I noticed that my mazda now showed two duplicate OnePlus 9 pro devices in the connected devices section.

If I turn both to "Always Ask" I get a quick "start android auto" window on the car, before it disappears and another one shows up right after that I am able to click connect to and it works fine.

I thought I had it fixed, but after trying to reconnect it, both devices now show up as "always enabled" and I have the same issue again.

I've checked in the android auto settings, and it is set to allow the car to tell it when to connect or not.

I know recent one plus OS updates have been buggy as hell, but I really don't know what to do other than try to buy a new phone. Apple devices seem to work fine with carplay.

If I have to go into settings every time to delete or change both devices to "always ask" I feel like I might as well just use the in car nav and bluetooth, but I would be really happy if I could get it to work.

I've tried all the basic troubleshooting steps, and have even factory rest the phone, but nothing has helped.

I'm on android 11, with all the other issues I've had with the phone I'm at this point assuming it's oneplus, and I might just be screwed until I get a new phone.

If you guys with working android auto could let me know what your connected devices look like, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you all for reading this wall of text. Really hoping I can sort this out.

Next step is a trip to the dealer, but like I said I get the feeling this is more to do with my phone than the car

Connect Input Devices to TV or A/V Receiver first?

I'm just starting on my setup and wondered what the pros and cons were for:

  • connecting all my input devices (4K BDP, PS3, PS4) to my TV and then using eArc from the TV to my A/V Receiver vs.
  • connecting all my input devices to my A/V receiver and then using the HDMI out on the A/V receiver to connect to an input on my TV.

The biggest pro that I see is I can have all of my input devices and A/V receiver in one area of the room and only need to run one cable to my TV. I already own an LG CX (has eArc support) and am looking to buy an Onkyo TX-NR797 (does not have eArc support). Does eArc matter if I plug all of my input devices into my A/V receiver?

Thanks in advance!

What’s the most ideal way to use Figma with a pen/stylus input device?

Hello everyone,

while I’m not really new to using Figmaβ€”though far from being a professional userβ€”, I am new to pen/stylus input devices, henceforth I could need some advice from you, please.

I’m not really happy with using Figma with a mouse or trackpad and thought it would feel much more natural to use Figma with a pen/stylus input device.

There’s Wacom-like graphic(?) tablets, and there’s for example iPad + Apple Pencil (which is a shame that this thing does not work with trackpads), but I’m not even sure if Figma supports one of both … doing some (re)search via search engines did not bring up that many informative results, hence asking here.

If I’d be purchasing an iPad + Apple Pencil, would this allow me to use Figma via the pencil as input device, e.g. creating/moving/resizing geometric shapes with the pencil, et cetera? I’m not really interested in drawing, more into replacing my mouse with a pen/stylus …

Thank you in advance.

Why would one MIDI input device be laggier?

I’ve used one keyboard device for years to play MIDI into my Ableton tracks for production. I recent got a second keyboard because it is a 6-octave keyboard, rather than the 4-octave original one, which sometimes is a bit limiting.

Strangely, the second keyboard is really laggy triggering MIDI playing in Ableton, too much to practically be able to listen to the music while playing. It’s about 1/16th late. The first keyboard doesn’t lag in any noticeable way, when triggering the same Ableton synths, using the same USB MIDI cable. Even just recording the MIDI notes against a track with no synth loaded still shows the timing is out.

Any theories as to why one would be different?

Keyboard one, no lag, is a Line6 KB37 (aka Toneport), which is also an external sound card.

Keyboard two is a (secondhand, found, free!) Casio CTK-3500. I can’t find any Casio drivers that need to be upgraded from the Casio site.

A question about input lag and runahead on RK3326 devices

Hello everyone,
I already have a RG350P and I was thinking of buying a RG351 device (probably one with 4:3 screen). I might be ready to lose something on "fidelity" (the low res screen is great with pixel accuracy), but I was wondering one thing: how good is performance for different emulators with runahead (1 frame) on?

I'm using it for NES, Genesis and GB/GBC on my RG350P and it's great, I'm just sad that we don't have overlays support for retroarch there.

In sfml there are (as far as I know) two ways to read input from peripherals; checking the input with pollevent, and checking the state with isKeyPressed.

Which is recommended to use? I'm using sfml mainly for games, but I'm not sure which of these suits the most. So far it seems like pollevent is good for getting one input at a time, and isKeyPressed is good if I want multiple inputs simultaneously (like holding space and D or W and D at the same time). Questions for an optimum FS2019/2022 Input devices set up.

Hi guys,

I bought myself a G29. I tried it out with FS2019. I'm on PC. While I love the way it handles I had big troubles with the following:

  • Moving camera while driving the tractor
  • Handle more complex machines, for example, a forklift or a forest machine - this was not really possible with the wheel and I used my keyboard + mouse. That was not very comfortable since I have to lean over my wheel and stuff.
  • Obviously, everything that can't be done with the wheel, like cutting trees by hand moving around by foot, etc.

I also have a wireless Xbox Controller that I also tried. It felt better and more comfortable but I really haven't found a way to play with FS2019 so everything feels comfortable.

So my question is, how do you play FS2019 / FS2022 when you play with a driving wheel? Also, what are your button mappings? How do you operate big machines?

I'm on the search for the optimum setup. I know that's kinda hard since everybody has their own preferences but I need some ideas to get this going and maybe there are possibilities I couldn't even think about as of now.

Thx so much guys and happy farming.
