A list of puns related to "Hoka"
I have an ankle injury and am forced to wear Hoka style shoes with extremely thick soles for max cushioning everywhere.
Iโve tried a wide variety of different shoes but nothing else works. I would like to wade but Iโm hesitant to do it in the shoes Iโve been wearing as I know the river bottom is uneven and rocky and I need something a little heavier duty with more ankle support and traction.
I currently wear these shoes kayaking but I am only walking in the water intermittently here and there, when launching and swimming. Iโm not sure it would be quite the same as wading but idk. Anyone else have lower extremity injuries or pain that has found a workable solution or am I doomed to the bank?
Unpopular opinion, but running actually puts me in a happy place. No other therapy comes close to the mental clarity I get from my daily half mile. What are your secrets to mental success?
Hey guys,
I just wanted to share some good news that i've had recently with a shoe switch.
I recently started getting some really intense metatarsalgia in the 4th toe on my left when i upped my running to around 30-35km a week. It went well for a few months before the pain set in and then i couldnt go further than a few kilometres without pain and numbness.
I switched from some random Adidas SL20s that i bought online on sale to a pair of ON Running Cloudstratus, and while i found that there was definitely alot more feedback in my leg muscles compared to the SL20s, the foot pain wasn't really going away.
I saw a podiatrist who cleared me of having a neuroma, and basically confirmed that i had a problem with the nerve around my metarsal pad and it was being irritated.
for reference i have short, wide feet with a particularly high arch, so it sort of made sense that i had a supine footstrike, and a lot of stress was being focused down the outside of my foot into the outer ball of my feet. He gave me a metatarsal pad that definitely helped a little bit, but kind of brought on problems of it's own around the rest of my foot.
I was in a bit of despair as i'm an active runner and play a few different sports, it was starting to really loom in the background that i might not be able to maintain an active lifestyle and was starting to really feel quite a lot of depression around the idea that my body was giving up on me.
For further reference, I'm 28 years old, 5'11" and 81kg, and i've had three knee reconstructions and more recently a syndesmosis injury to the right ankle (same foot with metatarsalgia).
Enter Hoka. I was around at a friends place and the night was getting a bit long on the piss, and i strapped on his Hokas to take a spin around the block. It was hard to tell at the time if it was the alcohol or whatever, but i was shocked at how much more supportive they were on my feet than the cloudstratus. So i go home and buy myself a pair of Rincon 3s online and they arrive a few days later.
I was honestly taken aback at how well they worked for my feet, and i felt an immediate difference starting out just on the treadmill. I felt like my strike pattern had become a lot more centred in my foot - i think the Rincon has a wedge on the outside of the sole that sort of absorbs a lot of pressure and redistributes my load to the centre of my foot.
I honestly don't know if it was the shoe change specifically that has remedied my problem because i als

Looking for Hoka One One Mach 4, but want to give it a try before the purchase. Open to other shoes or store suggestions.
Dhanyawaad!
I read online that the metarocker in HOKA acts similar to a full height surgical boot, and is therefore helpful for metatarsalgia. Is this true, and is the early stage or late stage metarocker better?
Iโve been suffering from PF for about 4 years now and my doctor has tried everything. I work on my feet for up to 10 hours a day. I am sold on trying Hoka because Iโve ran into 3 people wearing them and they all RAVE about them! Question is, which kind? There are a bunch of different kinds in their orthopedic section and I donโt have the money to get multiple pairs. One person I talked to (an urgent care doctor) swore by the Bondi 7 but I also heard the Clifton were good. I prefer they look off the Challenger, but Iโm more concerned with how they feel. They have the cushion and stability rating on the website, but I really have no idea if I need more cushion or stability because they seemed to have one or the other but not both. I have major heel and arch pain that makes me walk on the out side of my feet or just the toes after a while. Thanks for the help!
I really like running in Hokas, but I find that when it's icy I slip a lot. I do the majority of my running on gravel roads in Clifton, and I want shoes with more grip. Does anyone have any suggestions on what trail Hoka would be best?
The best sale of 2021 in my humble opinion
Hi folks, How would ypu compare the Hoka shoes, with Nike React? Or Adidas Ultraboost? Or Asics Glide?
Those are the shoes I have experience with.
These shoes are a lot bouncier than anything Iโve experienced. Do I just need to break the shoes in or should I return them? Iโve had shin splints before but I eliminated them by shortening my stride. Iโm pretty sure that my stride is still short with the new shoes so idk if itโs the shoes or something else.
Should I return them? If so, should I get a less cushioned shoe? (Feeling the splints on the inside of the bone if that helps)
My Clifton 7's are coming to the end of their life, so I'm looking to get the Clifton 8. I normally go for a wide (2E) version as I find the standard fit a little snug. I'm borderline between the two widths.
Can anyone tell me if the Clifton 8 is wider than the 7, even if it's a marginal difference? I ask because this review on RunRepeat has thrown a spanner into the works.
>"I had the Clifton 7s in 2E wide and went to the standard D width for the Clifton 8 and the fit great on my fat feet."
Anyone agree with that, or think there's no difference between the standard Clifton 7 and 8?
hello fellow addicts,
I'm faster now than I was in high school or college. While I assume the reason is a more disciplined approach to training which includes waking up at 4 am to finish 10 mile runs before work, I'm curious if my shoes didn't play a statistically significant role as well. Previously I would run all races in my training shoes, because I didn't have the money to afford lightweight shoes for race day. Now I have income, and built a training rotation (hoka clifton, hoka rocket, invincible (favs), and rebel v2 (least fav; why do they have such a tight toe box?!)) that I use throughout training and racing. That being said even with lighter weight shoes, I never thought I would break an 18 minute 5k... or drop below my prior 10 k PR of 38:30
I guess you could say my initial thoughts on the Rocket Xs are mind blowing. They feel amazing, nice roll for heel strikers. Struggled a bit on wet surfaces. Freaky fast.
thanks everyone, this is my new favorite subreddit. what an amazing community
House has hardwood floors and experience foot aches, planter fasciitis and paroneal tendinitis. Anyone have any luck with recovery shoes, sandals or slippers?
I am training for a Ultra trail (65km 1800 D+) and want to know what do you think of these shoes ?
Looks like there is a shortage of speedgoat 4. Anybody know whatโs going on and when they are going to be available in canada ?
Thank you !
Question for everyone. I recently Picked up a pair of Mach 4's but realized after 3 runs that they are not going to work out. They are causing a pain in my left little toe, which is something I have only previously had happen in my pair of Rincon 1's I had a year ago. I guess this must be a Hoka issue because no other brand has done this.
I am looking for a shoe that will fit for my daily runs between 5-7 miles, or a slow longer run. My past shoes I have ran in were the Mizuno wave rider 23's and the Brook's adrenaline 20/21's. All had between 400-500 miles before they were retired. I have a pair of Endorphin Speeds that I love and wear for fast or longer runs
I am thinking of Novablast's or maybe endorphin shits. But what do you all think would be a good option?
Hey everyone. I'm finishing up my gear for my at thru and I am breaking in a pair of speedgoat 4. I feel like the shoe is really stiff and the top of the toe box creases Abit. I'm just curious if anyone has experience similar and advice. In not interested in zero drop shoes so I don't think I'll try line peaks. What else ?
After getting Myokarditis because of the Covid 19 vaccine i got into running, now that i am training for my first half marathon, i am looking for a new pair of shoes. Little research led me to those shoes but right now i cant decide between them. Wich one would you recommend? Thanks in Advance
p.d: pardon my english
hi, it is time for me to buy new shoes. From the title you can understand that i am between those two. I tried both and they feel good , however i am not sure i would like to take a second opinion from someone with more experience than me. If you have any other suggestion under 100 โฌ, let me know
PS. My goal is to run a marathon , so i want the best for my case.
Thank you all for your time
We donโt have stores with hoka here
Clifton 8.5 too narrow Clifton 8.5 wide is ok
Will Mach in a 9 be a good size or should I stick with 8.5 ( which is out of stock in my color preference )
Thank you!
I would like to ask about your opinions and experiences as to which shoe is more suitable for sprinting/running sessions with mainly forefoot striking? I also go for regular running sessions, so far my max distance is about 10km and I mainly run on concrete streets around my village. Hoping to hear from you guys, thanks!
Hello all,
I received my Hoka EVO Mafate 2 today in my size 45.5 EU (11 US / 10.5UK), I feel like the toe box is little narrow on my right feet, especially near the pinky toe area.
Does anyone have experience with this shoe and same fit ? does the upper stretch while running or should I go with next size 46 ?
Also, how is the toe box comfort in EVO Speedgoat compared to EVO Mafate 2 ? if the Speedgoat is has more space, I will go with Speedgoat.
Thanks in Advance!
So I bought some Hoka Clifton 8s ( coming from brooks ghost) and they felt pretty nice, only thing I felt was they seemed a little narrow anyway done around 20 miles in them and they have been fine, so I bought some rincon 3s and did a gentle 5 mile run last night and they destroyed my little toe gave it a nasty blister I literally never suffer with blisters at all, Are they just to narrow for my feet and I never to get the wider style? I have never really thought about the width in brooks theyโve always just felt fine, Are the normal brooks width wider than the standard Hoka width?
