A list of puns related to "Helix Pomatia"
Iβve seen a couple of old posts about this, but Iβm looking for some more current information on this. Iβm a current resident of Oklahoma and Iβm looking to buy a Burgundy Snail. Iβve gotten SO MUCH mixed information about buying them online that I needed to reach out to a community. I wonβt be able to get a tank for at least another month, but I want to start trying to find a reputable source to obtain the slimy baby of my dreams.
What are the exact laws for shipping Helix snails across state lines? The internet has been quite vague about it and only focuses on GALS.
Heyy, does anyone know of any sellers for helix pomatias? Iβve been trying to buy some for a while and canβt find a trusted site or seller. Uk based. Thanks!
Is it legal to keep pet Helix pomatia in British Columbia, Canada?
iβd really love a couple as pets, iβm going to search for some but iβm thinking buying them could be a better option as wild caught could have diseases (?) and iβm not sure where to find them as apparently theyβre a bit rare here ? but i canβt seem to find anywhere that sells them! (apart from bulk buy of 100 and/or in europe, and i dont have the space and donβt want to put them through the long journey, and also not sure about animal import laws now because of brexit) iβve found a helix aspersa maxima for Β£5 but it said some had damaged shells which iβd rather not have, and also i really like helix pomatia pahaha
so if anyone knows where i could get some that would be great thanks!:))
Whoops just found itβs illegal to keep any helix in FL. Was recommended to get zachrysia instead.
Anyone have adult zachrysia?
I am new to the snail ownership world I would like to get a Helix Pomatia. They seem nice (I also cannot resist the cute texture of your skin!). I found them available on myhappysnail.com. I want to be a good snail parent and take care of them properly. I would also like to make sure that I get them from an ethical source i've only just begun doing all the research that I need to do. I do not intend to buy one just yet, but when I do I would like to know a good source. Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
A fellow snail lover
I have a few large garden snails and one Helix Pomatia. Recently, the Pom laid eggs (he must have been holding on to them for several months because they hatched less than 12 hours after laying).
Ever since he re-emerged from his burrow, he's been quite... forward... with my other snails. He's been showing his head wart a lot, which I believe has some sort of sexual function? He also keeps crawling on or around my 2 largest garden snails and displaying his sexual organs at them. I also found a love dart which I assume is his (it looks bigger than my garden snail's love darts). One of the garden snails was displaying signs of mantle collapse this morning and I believe it is the Pom's fault, since he keeps trying to sit on them while they're crawling up the wall.
I've put the Pom in a separate tank now. Is that all I can do to curb his behaviour? Keep him separate forever? I have no intention of getting another Pom so he will have to be by himself.
First question. My Pom buried himself last night, and less than 12 hours later, babies started appearing. Are they really his? I didn't realise eggs could hatch that quickly. (My garden snail also burrowed about a month ago but I think I found and froze all of his eggs).
Second question. I have one Pom. I have had him for about 2 months now. Could he have stored sperm for that long and only just decided to use it now? I have researched Poms and it says that they are unable to self-fertilise (apparently they produce egg cells at different times to when they produce sperm, so self-fertilisation cannot take place).
PS: I have read and am following the Breeding and Culling guide.
Or other large land snails. Any websites that ship to Canada or anyone local that sells?
Been looking for awhile now and thought I'd at least post here to see if anyone has any they're willing to sell or rehome etc.
Feel free to dm me! I'm in the USA btw!
Hi snailers!! Iβve ordered my helix pomatia and am super excited! However, iβve heard contrasting things on what to feed. Some say yes to cucumbers and lettuce. Some say no it has no nutrition value therefore wonβt be good for your snail. I want to provide the best care. Any thoughts or personal preferences would be greatly appreciated (:
Hey fellow snail friends! I have 2 adult Helix Pomatia. I used to have 3, but one died recently. I have the opportunity to add some Cornu Aspersa Maxima and Arianta Arbustorum. Are Pomatia and Aspersa close enough to view eachother as company? I mean, I don't want my existing 2 Pomatia to feel isolated or lonely. I read that those 2 specials also crossbreed.
Does anyone of you have experiences with that?
I'm trying to obtain a few Helix pomatia in the USA. I've read mixed things regarding their availability and legality in the USA. Could anyone offer me some guidance on how to obtain some (legally)? Thanks.
I'm getting helix pomatias (a pair) I dont plan on breeding but i heard they do better with other snails. But ive been getting a lot of mixed information on their care and care for snails in general. My main questions are about what plants are good to grow in a snail terrarium and i saw something saying i should have earthworms or pillbugs to help aerate the soil? any other tips for snails would be greatly appreciated as well! I have a good general knowledge but tips to help them thrive wouls be great.
