A list of puns related to "Helical"
Doing a 100sqft bumpout located in north east USA. Builder is recommending to use a helical pile from https://www.technometalpost.com/en-US/ on the corner, rather then a concrete foundation.
Haven't been able to find too many reviews. Saves 8k in cost but I'm not sure it will stand the test of time like a foundation, especially in our very sandy soil. This is our forever house.
Anyone have experience with them? Thanks!
The loooong spring makes loading the last bullets a hassle, when filled to full its under extreme - borderline abusice tension - thus it will weaken ...etc.
Why not use the same mechanism used in spring powered clock?
Said mechanism only gives a turqu for a few turns (not gazillion turns) BUT you can always increase tension by turning a knob of a ratcheting mechanism.
And that could be done by the movement of the bolt.
...basically the same mechanism used in self rewinding spool holders for 3d printing: Like this one
I've seen some great videos of helical plunge machining into a pocket and then a spiral outward for roughing a pocket/bore. Looks like a great way to do it quickly. I'm using Inventor CAM and my question is, how do I define my speeds and feeds for the plunge and then for the "Adaptive" section. My concern is that the outside of my cutter is feeding a lot faster than the tool center that the feedrate is defined for since it starts out as a small diameter hole from the helical plunge. But then when the pocket gets closer to finish diameter, outside of cutter will be feeding closer to tool center.
I just think too many people don't know this, and will die on this hill.
NASA has known for decades that these do absolutely nothing, and if anything, may hasten fastener loosening: https://mae.ufl.edu/designlab/Online%20Resources_files/Fastener%20Design%20Manual%20(NASA).pdf
This site documents extensive Junker testing of various bolting methods, showing the worthlessness of helical split washers: https://www.boltscience.com/pages/helicalspringwashers.htm
Just spreading awareness. I have nothing to contribute beyond references to expert literature.
I still don't know why so many modern machine designs keep using these.
The main difference between Helix and Spiral is that the Helix is a smooth space curve and Spiral is a curve which emanates from a point, moving farther away as it revolves around the point. ... Examples of helices are coil springs and the handrails of spiral staircases.
Anyone install these piers? Received an installers cert through the manufacture but thought Iβd ask for more info before deciding on whether to self perform. Anything would be informative.
I know you can check and you should fletch your arrows to match the natural flight of your bow string but does it really matter that much? Reason I ask is I was just gifted a fletching jig and want to try to fletch some arrows at the moment I shoot straight vanes and my jig is a right 3Β° any help is appreciated thanks
Microporous materials are extensively applied in catalysis owing to their unique pore structures. Among them, microporous materials loading polyoxometalates (POMs) exhibit considerable potential for catalysis thanks to the combination of the outstanding redox catalytic properties of POMs and the characteristics of microporous materials. Based on this, we developed a facile hydrothermal method to synthesize the helical microporous nanorods (HMNRs) using POM clusters as building blocks, combining the properties of both POMs and microporous materials while circumventing the complicated loading process. The HMNRs shows enhanced photocatalytic performance for toluene oxidation. Comparatively high activity, superior selectivity towards benzaldehyde, and prominent cycling stability were achieved, manifesting a promising prospect for the future application in photocatalysis.

I just discovered the Machining Advisor Pro app for figuring speeds and feeds for Helical Tools and it looks really nice. Iβm about to order some end mills and try it out but wanted to see if anyone has experience with how well the tools and app work. How much can I trust it?

Was thinking of getting piles but am being told that it's unnecessary and a big waste of money as long as I get a pad made, and don't have water issues.
Does that sound correct to you guys? Just trying to figure out the pros and cons of having helical piles for a moible home VS blocking.
