A list of puns related to "Gretsch"
Never mind my dirty socks....

Hi, I recently got a G2655T Streamliner and, in first place I really wonder how they assembled the electronics. There is no "hole" in the back. And everything has a thick finish all over. Kinda looks like they first did the electronics, then put everything together, then painted everything.
Anyway. My problem is the Pickup selectors switch. It naturally always moves to the Mid Position. I have to play very carefully, and that's not what I am planning to do. So I thought it would be a good idea to replace it with a rotary switch. But I am afraid to remove the current switch, cause I have absolutely no idea how to get to the "inside" of the guitar, I may be able to lose it, but I don't know how I tighten it back. Maybe there is a chance when removing the Pickups first. But I also think about changing one Pot as well and I have really absolutely no idea how to do that.
This is primarily for those of you new to Gretsch guitars, and especially those with black top filtertrons. If you are getting very uninspiring tones from your guitar, there is a very good chance you need to raise your pickup heights. Although this is true for ANY guitar, it's especially true to Gretsch guitars with filtertrons. These pickups are very dependent on distance to the strings to sound their best. On every Gretsch I have purchased, the pickups were too low from the factory. Play around with height until you get the sound you want. It's a very easy fix.
Hey Guys,
This is my 2nd post like this (really sorry), but a new 2nd hand kid just came available which seems like an amazing offer... but which do I go for?
Do I go for a Tama Rockstar kit (2 toms, floor tom, snare and bass drum) with all hardware included - Hihat stand, Pedal, 3 cymbal stands, splash cymbal attachment, snare drum stand. It even comes with all cymbals, B8 hi-hats/Crash, B8 Pro Ride, Zildian China & Splash and a cowbell all for 450EUR. Bass drum has new heads with sound hole as well as large/medium damping rings.
It's a simple black kit.
Then there is a Gretsch Catalina Maple, 2 rack toms, 2 floor toms, snare, Bass drum. No hardware or Cymbals for 400EUR. It's a nice Satin Deep Cherry Burst.
I prefer the look of the Gretsch kit, I haven't heard either in person. Will require a bit of a drive so definitely not something I want to drive out just test how they sound. Gretsch does seem like a better kit in general to me, extra floor tom is nice too. But the value of the Tama is pretty crazy?!?!? Is it a really bad kit or is this guy just desperate to sell?
Adding photos just so you can see them.
Finally in a position to buy my first Gretsch, and can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm going for the 5622, found a good price online, but the only colour option is black gold. Does anyone own this? I've looked at photos on different retailers, and in some the guitar looks black, and in others it has a sort of reddish hue?? I'm not in a position to visit any shops to see it in person, so any advice appreciated. The jet black colour isn't my ideal, but if it was softer, with the slight reddish hint, I could definitely live with that. Thanks in advance!
Hey Guys,
I'm looking to get a drum kit and get back into things again. I did a post a while back and kinda decided on the Yamaha Stage Custom Maple kit. But I've seen a second hand pair of Gretsch Catalina Maples become available. I have never heard the kit but people have given it good and bad reviews? This is all down to prefence and but I'm interested to hear what people think!
Gretsch Catalina Maple for 400EUR - 14" Matching Snare, 10" RT, 12" RT, 14" FT, 16" FT and 22" bass for 400EUR.
Or
Yamaha Stage Custom Maple for 758EUR (Includes matching snare too). 14" snare, 10" RT, 12" RT, 16" FT and 22" Bass.
I heard the Gretsch Catalina Maple snare leaves a lot to be desired. But with the savings I'm close enough to an upgrade?
Also looking at Masterwork Custom cymbals, listened to them in a lot of vids now and they seem underpriced for what you get!
Main advantage of Yamaha is - It's brand new and I can choose shell colours.
Gretsch is a great price and the colour aint bad, Satin Deep Cherry Burst!
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 (pre MOSFET) it even has the box! Love the sound but donβt need the boost and itβs too big for my board.
Mojo Hand FX Sacred Cow (feeler) itβs a Klone with a super subtle fat boost toggle, in great shape with box.
Keeley Fuzz Bender has box.
