Experience Requirements include:
Work experience in multi-platform, enterprise IT operations environments
Amazon Web Services Architecture, System Deployment and Management
Red Hat Enterprise Linux, RHEV, CentOS, Amazon Linux, Microsoft Active Directory
Knowledge of and experience with web tools and technologies including, Apache, Ngnix, MySQL, PHP, Git, Mod_Security, Nagios, Zenoss, XML, JSON
Experience with scripting languages including Bash, Python, PHP, Perl
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking technologies including, DNS, routing, switching, ACLs and firewalls
Experience with IT Operations concepts and services such as monitoring, back-up / restore, disaster recovery, performance tuning, horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and/or high availability, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Must have experience producing and maintaining detailed systems documentation.

So per the PHB: "Your Charisma (Performance) check determines how well you can delight an audience with music, dance, acting, storytelling, or some other form of entertainment." So to play music well, you use Performance.
Also per the PHB: "Your proficiency bonus canβt be added to a single die roll or other number more than once."
So for a character like a bard, who is almost certainly going to be proficient in Performance, and who is also likely to have a number of instrument proficiencies, they are completely redundant. So for the characters they should be most important to they are, instead, meaningless.
XGtE added a little bit of usefulness to tool proficiencies (though they're still a hot mess), but instrument proficiencies are still basically useless, and clearly weren't well thought out.
