Been reading fantasy for 30 years now I generally hove a good sense for who will become successful or be a prescience for a long time but obviously I have been wrong and I thought comparing notes might be a good way to get recommendations for authors and series. I have loads but the two stand out most or come to mind first rather.
Hal Duncan I can’t explain how brilliant the Authors first book was Vellum was a intricate tale involving a multiverse with its votes in Sumerian mythology and a transcendent queer love story at the heart of it while the second book ink was a failure in many ways it was the kind of failure many authors could only hope to write. I genuely thought we would be talking about this author for years to come.
kit Whitfield debut Bareback in the uk ( and no the double meaning I don’t think was a accident ) and benighted in the us where it was marketed as more or less standard UF which it really isn’t this is a book about institutional trauma about the damage being different can cause in a world that seeks to weaponise it it’s a book that stayed with me years after reading it. Her Second book was a historical fantasy that again played up the role of the other/ outcast even when they were created by the society that birthed them. I found the author riverting if the victim of bad marketing I thought it was only a matter of time before she released her breakthrough novel instead silence For years though I think she is finally writing her third novel.
Seriously, I was loosing hope that every political sub had become so consumed by self satisfied echo chamberism, that there was no place left for free and open discourse of differences. It gives me hope for the future that there is a sub populated by younger people who can actually tolerate each other. Never stop showing the kind of character you guys do here.

me and mom and grape and abuela went to the libary yesterday cuz they wanted to get preppy fogey books or w/e . so I went over to the movies and saw they had deadpool 2 ! deadpools cool af hes got lots of guns and guns are gothic af so hes gothic to duh . Note: I'm new to reddit and my grandson his helping me learn and transcribe this.
The mess the current CMSAF has created came across my radar recently and I'm new to reddit but have read several articles and seen some incredible YouTube Videos on this and feel the need to speak out on this topic as someone who personally knew most of the CMSAF's (#1 - #10).
I can't speak much to the one's after that, I've met some of them several times, have followed them on and off, some were impressive, some were remarkably average but no one has disgraced the office of the CMSAF and set Chiefs back as much as CMSAF Bass has done since taking over.
I can say without hesitation, CMSAF Binnicker and Andrews are rolling over in their graves, may they rest in peace. CMSAF Airey and Barnes would be incredibly disappointed, and I'm sure CMSAF Parrish's response would be the most damning, yet colorful and eloquent in ways only Sam could be. CMSAF McCoy and Gaylor are still with us and are exemplary examples of leadership and pure class, and won't and shouldn't comment on this, but I'm sure they're also disappointed.
There is great history in the Air Force amongst Chiefs and the CMSAF's, I'm posting this now in hopes that the current CMSAF will see this and know that you've let a lot of people down and have failed to live up to what it takes (and should be) to be the CMSAF. MAJCOM SEA'S (CCM'S now) were passed over for CMSAF when the current CMSAF was selected, a mistake which should never be repeated. Also didn't see any time as a first sergeant in the bio, no MAJCOM experience, gave us a CMSAF without wisdom and maturity, it's utterly disgraceful.
A final thought, any 4-star, any commander for that matter worth a lick wouldn't stand for this crap, not sure what that says about the current AF/CC.
Bring back a standard of excellence and accept nothing less. This CMSAF should resign, it would be the only honorable outcome, a selfless act which would restore dignity to the office and restore the Chief's credibility. As the kids say today, "own it" and then share your experience on the speakers circuit as a humble steward of the office and who bowed out gracefully after recognizing a failure to uphold the standards of SNCO's, Chiefs and the CMSAF. Anything less, then you will undoubtedly find yourself in quiet town halls around the world, facing an enlisted corps divided between those who do and don't get it. As the title says looking for other old fogies to play with. I'm 49 and live in the UK with my wife I play on PS5. I Suck at playing 99% of games but really enjoy playing don't really have a favorite type, not a huge sport fan but will play for a laugh. Currently playing Outriders and loving it so if you are playing that even better but I do own 80% of PS5 games so I like to mix it up. I'm retired but help my wife run her business so play everyday about 6hrs plus a day so yes I'm on alot lol.

As a 35 year-old 0L who has recently started perusing this sub, I'm worried about a lot of you. The general consensus here seems to be that it's cool to take on six figures of nondischargeable debt bc HYS or these other 11 schools. Also biglaw's gonna pay it all back for you, so woo hoo!
This is dangerous.
Sure, biglaw might pay it all back for you and then some (assuming you stick with it). But one day, you're going to wake up and be 32. You'll head to the medicine cabinet and look in the mirror. You'll rub the boogers out of your eyes and look down at your pudgy gut and think, "Shit. What the hell did I do with the last ten years?"
Here's what you did. You rented an outrageous amount of money from a lender so you could pay for law school, which was really just a proxy for gaining access to a high-paying job. Then you worked mind-numbing 12 to 14-hour days doing grunt work for corporations that view you as nothing more than a necessary evil. And you did this for years!
In the meantime, you missed out on time with your SO and children, exercise, hobbies, recreation, vacations, gatherings, and – this one's big – alternative career opportunities. After all, how are you going turn over a new leaf and try something new when you're struggling to pay back $XXX,XXX in loans, never mind the mortgage on the particle board mansion (you're biglaw; gotta look the part) and the payment on the Tesla?
Hey, at least you can tell everyone in your social circle that you went to Columbia or whatever. Let's ignore the fact that your social circle is smaller than ever and is pretty much only composed of people who also went to T14 schools.

And I love him. He's such a chonk and I love rubbing his round belly, HOWEVER...
He is a little overweight and I care more about his health than I do having a hunk-of-chunk dog. I tell him how chonky he is everyday, but he huffs at me for fat-shaming him and doesn't take any advice I tell him.
I recently, in October 2020, adopted him from a shelter after he had just been placed into foster care a few days prior. The shelter described him as a poodle mix, but I have no idea what else he could be mixed with as he looks like a regular miniature poodle to me aside from his little short tail (possibly docked? idk). His name is Beignet Francois Bonet. He's currently 9 years old and 21 lbs (same weight since I adopted him). At some point he lost one whole lb, but eventually he picked that up again. I have the Active Care Plus wellness plan with Banfield Hospital, normally located in PetSmart. I'm not sure if I should continue to go to them because they normally say that he's healthy; however, I think he has serious allergies. He is sometimes itchy and he licks/ chews on his feet sometimes, which further confirms the allergic reaction to something.
He has this horrendous hacking cough where it seems like he's going to throw up something, but he never does. It doesn't seem to phase him much but it bothers me a lot. He has been doing this ever since I got him. I've tried Apoquel, Temaril-P, Benadryl, and even Zyrtec, but he still has these issues. The vet said that he has slight inflammation in his throat when previously when I went to them they said his lungs and breathing sounded fine. He is updated on all his vaccines and I normally feed him a small bowl once a day with the food the foster originally fed him, which is the Simply Nourish Adult Food. I give him one Greenie a day and maybe a piece of dog jerky unless I give him a little chicken/ beef broth in his dry dog food to soften the kibble a little so that he can chew it easier (he's got minimum teeth because he had bad dental disease before I adopted him).
He tends to pant a lot at times while pacing or just resting. He pants a lot when excited and for a long time after we come inside from a walk (whether long or short) or a potty break. I'm afraid of him having tracheal collapse or anything respiratory, so I try not to play too hard for too long with him or take him on walks that would overexert him, even though he never really seems tired when we do take long walks, but I'm afraid that I'm not exerci
