The rumours, they had all been true. The Targaryens were indeed coming, and it seems fate had led them to the Stormlands first.
Why can't I just have my peace... Lewys had spent the evening after the news had come in prayer to the Seven, joined now and then by his sister Sansa. But the peace in the Sept of Parchments, a natural structure made from three closely planted willows, its roof consisting of their fronds and branches, could only last so long. Business had to be attended to, business which was no easy choice for the young Lord Penrose.
A small part of him hoped for battle, that heroic spirit which so often resides in men not yet knowing war's terrors. The idea of winning glory, of being victorious upon the field of battle was an enticing one indeed. Yet caution had to rule the day, Lewys had to put his people and family first...It did not make the situation any easier.
Since returning from the Sept, Lewys had secluded himself in his study, pouring over old books and records, glancing now and then out of the window and over the sea, those waters which soon could be filled with enemy ships. He was grateful at that moment that the cliffs about Parchments were sheer, and the path up to the keep's gate, set upon a hill, was winding and long.
"It's too late to start construction of fortifications, we must rely on the Seven and good fortune if we are to survive this war, correct?"
Lewys' eyes moved over to the elderly Ser Perwyn, his Master-At-Arms. The man had served his family loyally since the time of Lewys' grandfather, and the young Penrose trusted him implicitly.
Ser Perwyn scratched at his beard, glancing down at the map of Parchments which had been laid out before him. "I am afraid it is so, Lord Penrose. All the more reason why you shouldn't send me away to Storm's End with a detachment of soldiers, you need someone experienced to oversee the possible defense of your holdings."
"I need someone I can trust implicitly there, Ser Perwyn, even more than I need to defend my keep. We must remember Aelinor and Ronnel after all."
The elderly knight's eyebrow raised into the air. "You are considering their cases?"
Lewys nodded. "I am indeed, but we must hope it does not come to that. King Beron shall have my sword, but to the Lord of Storm's End..Well, we shall see. I will be sending you with fifty of House Peasebury's Men, fifty from Wensington, and a hundred and fifty of our own house. There has been trouble raising and preparing the movemen

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
