A list of puns related to "Fishing Sinker"
Hey guys. Will try to keep it short. My dumb self thought I developed an ingenious way to figure out if my p traps were drying up (have been smelling some odd things in the house in some rooms in our 1970's home and wanted to check for siphoning).
I tied a 1 oz fishing sinker onto a piece of string, lower it down the trap, pull it up and down to listen for splashing, and pull it out to confirm it's wet.
Well, got to the laundry stand pipe and what do you know, the knot came loose and the sinker dropped in... Sinker looks like this, maybe an inch long: https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/8c3540bb-41ec-485e-b5ef-6eb4538a6c22_1.0a573c69d072d03c9a1718dd345c98f4.jpeg?odnHeight=612&odnWidth=612&odnBg=FFFFFF
Anyhow, I ran the washer through a few drain cycles and it seemed normal. Sounded the same and no backup at all.
So now I'm wondering... can I just let it go? Thinking either it got flushed into the septic, or more likely it's just sitting down there... Stand pipe is 1970's ABS, I think it's 2" but it does look a bit smaller than 2" PVC I've seen. Not sure if 1 1/2" stand pipes were normal in the 70's?
To open up the wall and open the trap would be an absolute nightmare. Finished on both sides, cabinets on both sides, etc.
Think I can just let it go? Thanks for the input.
Feel it squish between my teeth
Hi guys, I'm sure some of you guys make Lead sinkers.
Ill be interested in buying about 100 oz. Preferably egg and pryamid shape for saltwater surf fishing, rivers, inlets.
I'm in Orlando ,FL so must be able to ship or meet.
Hi Team Perth! I wanted to just put out a bit of a safety message if you're fishing under the causeway or driving over it. Sunday afternoon (4.50pm) I was heading to the city, and while driving on the causeway over Heirisson Island my car was suddenly hit by an incredibly loud "bang" that sounded like a gunshot. I was shocked and narrowly avoided crashing into the bridge railing. A horizontal "crack" instantly appeared across my windscreen.
I managed to pull up in the city to check the damage, I ran my finger along the crack and it moved! It was actually a fishing line, I followed it back and it was tangled through my axel and around 30m trailing behind my car was heavy fishing sinker with 2 baited hooks. I found the large dent on the front right of my bonnet where the sinker was cast onto my car, the line then wrapping around the windscreen and left wheels.
This was a very scary experience and I narrowly avoided a potentially serious accident. It was a terrible afternoon for me, being shocked and left with a damaged car - I assume it also wasn't a great time for the fisherman who caught a car and had their line snapped. Please take care when fishing under roads!
Just looking to figure out if fishing sinkers are lead. Walmart near me has packs of 4 (8oz) on clearance for $1
