F Clef Puns

I’ve just started trying to learn all my scales on the piano. In the book I’m using I play the same note an octave apart form the first two bars, but then it switches to playing D with F, E with G etc. Before returning to the octave for final two bars.

Why should I be learning scales in this way? The book is David Carr Glover’s Scale Book.

If anyone has any better/ other resources or methods (any apps??) to learn all the scales and major and minor chords in each scale that would also be very welcome.

The sheet music How would you go about the fingering in the F clef?

I guess it's possible to do 5 3 2 1 with enough stretches but what would be the most preferred one? I find the jumps really difficult with the ones I try.

The G clef kind of looks like a fancy G.

However, I can't see the historical origin of

• The F clef (I guess the two dots could be the two horizontal lines of the letter F? In that case I can kind of see a fancy F)

• The C clef (this one looks like a B?)
