Metesbilge has been telling us of the Scottish Liberal Democrats plan to reduce fly-tipping and littering in rural areas. They said:
βFly-tipping and littering are massive issues in my constituency and it not only causes visual pollution, but it is also harmful to the environment. How anyone thinks leaving furniture in the middle of nowhere or dropping a sweetie wrapper is acceptable, I will never know.
βBut what I do know is that our plan to end this will work. We will give people convicted of fly-tipping a minimum of 50 hours of community service, but will also keep the fines of up to Β£2,500 and monetary payments of up to Β£40,000 and, for the worst cases, a 12 month custodial sentence.
βTo address littering, we will raise the fixed penalty notice from Β£80 to Β£120 and, for repeat offenders, will implement a minimum penalty of Β£1,000 and 30 hours community service.
βWe will run a big campaign informing people of the penalties and environmental impacts, which will certainly reduce the rate of fly-tipping and littering.
βAlso, I thank everyone here today in Langholm for helping to clean up this beautiful town, and everyone all over Scotland for doing the same, but it is a shame that we have to do this in the first place.β
They also encouraged more people to get involved in cleaning up their communities and to raise awareness of impacts of fly-tipping and littering.
The MP and MSP finished by saying: βGovernments can implement all these things, but it is local communities that will end this issue, and that is why I am out here today and will continue to help out.β

Do your worst!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
