Downvote Puns

Especially if it’s the top comment or anywhere near the top and it’s a semi-serious post.

It’s dumb. It’s cheap. And it’s cluttering the post.

When I first joined a few years ago it seemed like 50% of comments were puns and so I usually just skipped the comments. I’m beginning to see them come back and it’s super annoying.

I know this is 'captain obvious' data to some. And I know it is not obvious to all. In fact, I'm not sure it is correct.

I suspect that only about 1 in 10 redditors posts articles on any kind of regular basis. I further suspect that 10-50 percent of those posting articles make it a REGULAR HABIT to downvote other submissions in whatever sub they have articles posted in. I think they do this to help insure that their submission gets more attention. I don't know if they use multiple personalities to do this, (Yes, I think there are some folks who have nothing better to do.) or whether they use bots, or both.

I know this seems silly to anyone with an actual life, but it's the only explaination I can see for the odd 'karmic patterns' I've seen.

I hesitated to post this as I suspect it will only aggravate the problem.

But, knowledge is power, so here goes. Maybe reddit needs to redo the way karma and user registrations are handled.

Anyway, I'm going to post this multiple times in multiple locations so that when it's downvoted (pun partially intended) more will see it. Of course feel free to downvote this. But you might be helping to make reddit better if you also explain why you downvoted.

So I heard that there is a sub that is dedicated to forming raids and downvoting puns that they find on reddit. What is this sub called? Or is there any similar ones?

No matter what they say, the moment they start a comment with “I’m an anti-vaxxer”, I hit the downvote button. Sometimes it’s not explicitly stated, all they say is “I didn’t get vaccinated and I’m fine”.

I generally consider myself open-minded and willing to listen to all opinions and not judge based on my first impression. But when it comes to vaccination… I feel like it’s a social responsibility? It doesn’t just affect you, it affects everyone else too. And I guess it gets on my nerves more cos there’s so much misinformation surrounding the topic as it is.

To clarify, I don’t mean unvaccinated people, who may have underlying conditions etc. I mean the people who identify as hostile to vaccinations.

Spend the cap space on the rest of the team in front of him. And worse case, we’ll have a better draft class next year to take a rookie QB. I think it’s our best chance at longevity. Season 38 won't start filming 'til March, so with SL+A finally over and All Stars 2 wrapping up soon, I'm curious what the thirty-eighth season would look like, if it were up to us!

So we'll use reddit's upvote/downvote feature and contest mode to determine who gets cast, what the format is, which twists are included, where it's filmed, and maybe even a name! This is similar to some things I did 2 years ago, where we built an Exes 3 and Allies season.

###Directions

The idea is: under the subheadings below for RETURNING CAST, NEW CAST, FORMAT, TWISTS, LOCATION - upvote the ones you want to see on 38, downvote the ones you really don't, and leave unvoted the ones you're meh/undecided on. If there's a contestant or twist that has not yet been mentioned, please add it! And if there's a category that's missing, like elimination arena name, please suggest it in the comments.

Of course, we all want to see Landon and Evelyn again, but that's not gonna happen (maybe on All Stars 4, and that's a push), so let's try to keep this realistic. Same with Kam, who's pregnant, and Leroy, who's retired 🥲

And it's not totally necessary for this exercise, but the casts for DA, SL+A, and both All Stars have been at least 50% people of colour, just like Survivor and Big Brother. Something to keep in mind.

You aren't protecting your investment, your are increasing the chances that people use the app and have a negative experience.

The app needs improvements and we should be pushing those improvements through and not punishing insulting people for trying to fix them.

What are your thoughts? I feel like it’s either something huge, or just literally exactly what he said.

On one hand, it was extremely weird to announce at like 11pm on New Year’s Eve and to also announce it along with the divorce announcement. That screams possible scandal to me. Like, are they trying to quietly put it out on the heels of huge Hollywood death and in the middle of a holiday so that it doesn’t gain much traction and people don’t ask many questions because there’s something big going on?

On the other hand, I’ve been through a divorce (with no children involved) and it fucking sucked and I would have also quit my job at the time had I had the means to…I can’t imagine factoring in children to that pain I felt. So I could see it being just what he said as well.

But I just can’t get passed the timing of the announcement and the weirdness of it. But I guess he probably also didn’t want it to be a slow news day so the media would run with it and dissect the marriage either? Idk I’m just so torn and confused and concerned

I also adore Joe and he’s my favorite and I think he’s extremely wholesome and a great guy…so it’s not that I THINK there’s a scandal, I’m just wondering if it could be a possibility…because I’m also jaded enough to know that people show you what they want to show you in themselves-people can have dark parts that you wouldn’t have imagined.
