A list of puns related to "Dobbs"
Everyone seems to be arguing over free agents, Mason vs Haskins, etc. But, I have not seen any conversation about Dobbs and personally I think that it's warranted. I'm going to make some arguments that he is a dark horse to win the QB1 spot this offseason but would appreciate CIVILIZED debate here.
First: Canada's offense would THRIVE around him. His mobility alone makes him a far better choice than Haskins or Rudolph.
Second: High football IQ. Every time Ben was on the sidelines after a drive, you see him sitting beside Dobbs with their tablets analyzing the defense from the previous drive. I recall Ben crediting Dobbs for a touchdown throw because he pointed out a hole in the defensive scheme.
Third: I would take 10 mediocre seasons with a likeable, zero off-field issues guy like Dobbs than one amazing season with someone like Deshaun Watson. Like, haven't Steeler fans had enough hatred thrown their way because of off field accusations? I don't care if Watson isn't convicted of a damn thing, I'll take the rocket scientist any day of the week.
Fourth: He is a far better passer than we give him credit for. In all the pre-season games he's played, he was primarily used in the option format and defenses knew he wasn't gonna chuck it over the mountains. In Canada's offense, Defenses are going to have to respect both the running ability and the rollout/scramble pass equally. Something we didn't have in Ben's later years.
Again, just my opinion on things. I've liked Dobbs as a person and player since we drafted him and would love nothing more than to see him overcome all the odds and become our guy for a few years while we find the next superstar.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Given the expected popularity of this case we have decided to create an official thread for discussion.
Oral arguments will start at 10am.
The arguments will be streamed here.
Here is our FantasySCOTUS league (or message /u/HatsOnTheBeach).
I've also created a feedback survey here.
Thanks, Mods
Hello,
I am not sure if you all were able to listen to the oral arguments today before the Supreme Court on the case of Dobbs v. Jackson. This case refers to the introduction of a 15-week abortion ban in the state of Mississippi. It was an interesting discussion, and one of the statements that was made by a Justice was that "the point where life begins seems to be a purely religious question." The conversation was all over the map about standards for human life in a legal sense (some focused on suffering - but obviously the historic standard of viability has been the one most favored by the court in previous decisions). I was wondering what the stance would be using the framework of EA philosophy? I found this article - https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/E6dDvRCr8eeTDJrAG/compartmentalizing-effective-altruism-and-abortion. What do you all think? (Most notably I have always felt it to be fairly compelling that the concept of 1. Genetics coupled with 2. Potentiality makes a very strong case for conception as the most logical starting point for human life). Thoughts?
Thanks!
Hello r/fantasyhockey/!
I founded DobberHockey.com in 2005 - a fantasy hockey website that has since expanded to DobberProspects (for prospects from a fantasy standpoint), GoaliePost.com (for free starting goalie info), Fantasy Hockey Geek (for deep, deep projections on serious leagues - over 120 stats), Frozen Tools (for stats, reports, profiles and analytics to dig deep on player info). For the 16th year, I have released my Fantasy Guide and keep it steadily updated right up to the season.
Ask me anything!
I will start answering questions around 11:00am EST
