A list of puns related to "Dalhousie"
It's not that I don't want to pay Dalhousie, it's that a bureaucratic complication is leading to me being charged for classes that I'm not even taking. I left Dalhousie last semester without intentions of going back. I had payed all my tuition and other fees for that semester. However, when I logged in to Dal Online to drop my classes for the Winter semester, the page said I had holds exceeding 100 dollars, and that I can't make changes for that reason. I know today is the last day to drop Winter courses without being charged, and I've been trying to contact the Registrar for this reason, but for some reason the line just breaks every time. I have emailed them but it takes 5 to 7 business days for them to respond. So, it looks like now I'm going to be charged for courses I'm not even taking. I have every intention of figuring out with Student Accounts why I have holds exceeding 100 dollars, but as for paying for these courses, I don't think it's morally wrong to not pay for them. What would happen if I just didn't pay them? Since I am in a different country, would they have any way of taking legal action eventually?
Look it up, you are in university. You know how to research.
Four cop cars in the byward market at St. Patrick and Dalhousie, lots of yelling, a couple people being arrested, officer running down the street with an automatic rifle. Anyone know what's going on?
Overall edit to shorten post:
Genuinely curious. Whether it has or has not helped, please share your experiences here.
Edit: my experiences of them are not good. A sudden mental health emergency affected my plan to finish an already extended assignment. I practically begged for just a 1-3 day extension, and once again have been directed to "lol here's a giant pile of bureaucracy, have a great day!". This was the 3-4th time.
Edit: SDAs, while relatively useful, are not useful for students with severe mental health issues. More often than not, we are powering through whatever we're feeling and putting ourselves under enormous strain. A girl in my management class had to do a presentation, 3-4 people per presentation. Her teammate abandoned the course, she only had one other teammate, and her mom has cancer.
Edit: According to some comments, there is some semblance of a system. For the most part, it appears to be an annoyingly complicated one, not very supportive, and a lot of hit-and-miss; people's stories are drastically different. If you're struggling, please go through the comments section. Almost all of this is new to me despite having specifically asked for help multiple times before.
FINAL EDIT (I think): With the sheer disparity between so many people's stories, I have no idea what the hell is happening anymore. This is insanely enlightening, to the point where it's just looped back into being even more confusing than before. Even some people who have gotten accommodations have had insufficient or bad accommodations (which are not taken well by profs).
Check your email! Invites were just sent out.
I'm torn between these two universities , Queen's University Belfast in northern ireland , UK and Dalhousie University in Halifax , NS, Canada. I've applied for computer science undergraduate course in both universities Can someone give me some insight where would it be beneficial for me to study
I applied to Dalhousie Nursing and their commerce program. I got an acceptance email to their commerce program but got an email about CASPer test requirement for nursing. I quickly booked a CASPer test and emailed the admissions office that I have a CASPer test booked. Do you think they will get back to me with an updates status before the new year? Or will they keep it at "Incomplete items outstanding" until the next round of admissions? Should I call Dalhousie admissions office to let them know? I already emailed them as well but I really hope to get a response before the New Years. Someone please let me know :( -- just give any thoughts or opinions pls >.<
This question is inspired by certain Tiktoks and Instagram posts I have seen recently from people who feel that Dalhousie hasn't provided elements of the education that they expected, or poor mental health services, etc. So, I am truly curious: what is one (or more) way that you feel that Dalhousie has failed you? You are, after all, a paying student that Dalhousie is providing a service.
Hi, I am currently a grade 12 international student and I am looking forward to get a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance. I am wondering if I should apply into Dalhousie or Sobey School of Business. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both schools? Thank you so much for your advice.
Hey! Iβm a prospective undergrad thatβs considering studying at Dalhousie University and Iβm interested in 3 majors:
Biomedical engineering
Biochemistry
Biological sciences
I need your help to decide if I should choose this uni for my higher studies. And if not, Iβd like to know if you could recommend another one in North America.
Now a little about me for context. Iβm studying at an IB high school in Ecuador getting certificates in biology, global politics, English and CAS. I have a pretty good GPA at roughly 9.25/10, but I stand out for my ability to learn and actively engage with the knowledge I perceive, not just in academic contexts. I also think I have good extracurriculars; I was president of the student council, participated in UN models, was a scout for several years, and participated in a CISV international camp abroad.
Iβm very interested in topics like physiology, immunology, zoology, genetics, neurology and pharmacology. However, this is not really the case with engineering or chemistry but it seems like the best way to get into careers that focus con research science but can also get me an outstanding salary, plus I believe I can make it thought them. Thatβs basically my career struggle, I love these biological fields but I want a career that pays well while sticking as much as possible to what I like.
Iβd like to perform jobs like developing new drugs and vaccines, curing genetic disorders, developing new therapies or studying and protecting animal life and biodiversity. Iβm even considering going to med school.
Based on this, Do you think the programs I listed are the right ones for me at this Uni? Does Dalhousie stand out in any of these programs, compared to other elite public universities in the nation? Do you know anything about scholarships I could apply to as an international student?
Sorry if this is too much but I really want to be sure I make the right call at choosing my future home for the next 4 years. Iβm looking for any feedback I can get and I think hearing from the students themselves is the best source of information.
Thanks in advance Dalhousie Tigers!!
They aren't exactly advertising this themselves so does anyone know where that's on record?
my sister-in-law told me the Dalhousie one was stolen inside the bike storage in the basement (I was out of canada atm)
Does anyone know if they changed the timing of that light? Cars in the second lane, the one that goes over the bridge into West Brant, are routinely backed up to King St and sometimes Queen St or farther back during rush hour. Even if you are on Dalhousie just passed King it can still be the third green light before you are through the intersection. It seems ridiculous.
I got rejected last week but it was expected (zero Maritimes connections lol).
But I am curious to find out examples of Maritimes connections needed to get an invite to Dalhousie as an out of province student.
There was a post last week on this reddit page when Dalhousie invites went out and there were several OOP applicants who grew up in the Maritimes and still got rejected with good stats.
I have been checking other premed forums and this reddit page and I can't find any OOP invite posts.
There were around 8 to 9 OOP invite posts last year on premed101 on the same day when interview invites emails were sent.
This seems a bit strange...
