I’m curious, how do you react to Spirulina, Blue-green algae, Chlorella, Astaxanthin etc? I take Spirulina, Chlorella and Astaxanthin daily. I feel that they have obvious benefits but my histamine intolerance symptoms are very prevalent and I find myself questioning whether various things in my supplement and dietary regimen are making it worse.

My mom befriended someone years ago who is a devout member of Seventh-day Adventist church. She is already a retiree, and soon it turned out that she sells Greenways products.
Local Adventists movement is heavily into healthy eating mixed with a lot of anti-vaxx and "pharma is a lie, just eat healthy and pray" sentiment, and its members own several chains related to food industry. Greenways branch is among them.
It is a brand that sells US-made organic dried young barley and chlorella, a plastic bottle of powder or pills costs ~$32. You can buy it only via someone who privately sells it to you without a receipt, not in a drug store or any store. A selling person buys 3 bottles and 4th is "free". That's their "payment".
To put the price into a perspective, a similar amount of certified organic alternatives available via any drug store costs ~$7 (so almost 5x less).
My mom bought 2-3 bottles of pills however ate maybe 2-3 of pills because she hates the taste. At least now my mom says that she still has to consume the bought ones first (before buying anything else). It was preceded by usual testimonials about the power of nature, how it helped to cure her depression, and how it cured perpetual tiredness and an ache of leg of her (also selling) friend. My teeth started hurting when I listened to her friend telling me how she had the inflammation of nasal cavities and had to eat 5x more Greenways pills a day in order to cure the infection (no pills against pain taken).
I eat the pills occasionally because it is just chlorella and barley, so why not. Yet MLM aspect and the absurd price tag (profit not even shared with the selling person) really irk me. My mom has been also subjected to instant invitations to "classes about the health and healthy eating". I accompanied my mom to one years ago. It turned out to be the lesson from a white dude who married a woman of Native American heritage, and the whole thing was basically "Native American's deep knowledge I came to share with you" finished by "Y'all (half of them divorcees), there is going to be LGBT Pride and we love our families, so we need to protect them by sabotaging this activity".
They switched to online paid classes after COVID epidemic started and continue with them. The latest one my mom participated in was about pushing Greenways again. I helped her to set Zoom up, and it amused me to hear the head of local branch using the term "networking marketing". I mean, it sounds a lot more friendly

And to summarize: When Spirulina or Chlorella gets farmed in water that has other blue-Green-algae, it’s possible that they get polluted with beta-methylamino-L-alanine (or BMAA), which can cause a bunch of neurodegenerative diseases
I hope this post helps someone to not make the same mistakes/regrets as me and draws attention to this issue.
I have taken this before as a powder just mixed in water.
Is that recommended over some of these tablets I see? Are tablets better? Or does it not matter and I am just overthinking this haha

I’m looking for a clean source of some high quality chlorella. Many of the ones I’ve gone across on Amazon won’t even publish their certificate of analysis for heavy metals which should make anyone suspicious. If anyone had success with a high quality chlorella powder fitting this description please feel free to share it here where we can compare them
If you were to take one daily, which one would you take and why?
Hi, I want to do a detox with chlorella and cilantro, but have no idea how to choose a decent chlorella brand. Added to my problem is the fact that I live in East Asia and don't always have access to the same brands as folks in other regions. Anyway, I would really appreciate it if someone could offer their thoughts on the best chlorella brands. Also, I have provided a link here with an offering of some of the brands in the country where I reside. If someone could look at that and see if there is any good stuff there, it would be extremely helpful. And, I asked, on an expat forum based in the country I reside in about this, and people started telling me I needed to be rushed to the hospital if I thought I had been poisoned. So, it appears that many of the foreigners here don't seem to be aware of the fact that there is a whole world out there of people doing several different kinds of detoxification.
