皇家香港軍團-義勇軍 Facebook 專頁表示，「最後的香港防衛軍戰士」Charles Barry Le Patourel 與世長辭，享年 99 歲。專頁稱，Le Patourel 曾參與 1941 年 12 月爆發的香港保衛戰，在港島黃泥涌峽一線戰場迎戰日軍，後來遭日軍俘虜，至 1945 年才獲釋。他其後移民加拿大，至昨日 (22 日) 離世。
Le Patourel 1921 年出生於上海，其後分別就學於英國，香港及日本，1941 年初移居香港，於黃埔船塢工作，並且加入香港義勇防衛軍 (Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps)，成為一名通訊兵。日軍侵略香港時，他與其他防衛軍同袍並肩在港島黃泥涌峽主要戰場，與日軍展開浴血戰。
訃聞稱，1941 年 12 月 25 日，Le Patourel 被日軍俘虜，並送入深水埗戰俘營，其後再被轉送到日本因島海軍造船廠工作，直至日本 1945 年投降才被釋放。重獲自由後，他在神户獲得盟軍遠東區最高統帥麥克亞瑟將軍 (Douglas MacArthur) 接見，後乘搭英國航空母艦前往澳洲悉尼，之後移居加拿大。
專頁指， Le Patourel 戰前自願加入香港義勇防衛軍，保衛香港，他成功接受訓練成為一名通訊兵，於 1941 年 12 月香港保衛戰戰役，在港島黃泥涌峽一線戰場，與同袍一起，迎戰強大日軍，並且與侵略軍展開正面浴血激戰。
前皇家香港軍團(義勇軍)成員日前曾探望 Le Patourel，雖然已年屆 99 歲，但仍然精神奕奕，當日與他一齊保衛香港，並肩作戰的防衛軍戰士，如今已經全數離世。
