That's what I asked in the title. But before anything: what I like about Photon Engine is that they host the server side for you so you don't have to worry about that (and also handles matchmaking and so on).
Despiste the fact that their Unity alternative (PUN) is easy to use, I found the C++ SDK extremely annoying and verbose to use. Documentation is weird as well, but enough regrets, is there another solution? Or even a wrapper to their weird C++ SDK.

Hello, merry Christmas, and happy holidays to you! I'm Devin; a (newly) 40 year-old mom and grandmother. Like so many others, I'm here in hopes of a Christmas miracle for my family.
This is honestly my fourth attempt at writing this post. I've been trying to convey the relevant info without writing a sob story, but, like clockwork, IRL issues redirect my attention elsewhere and I inevitably lose everything I'd written. Seems that "Murphy's Law" is my new normal. sigh I keep trying to tell Karma that I'm well beyond paid-in-full, but she won't listen.
Anyway... Here's how I've decided to approach this request, assuming I'm not too late.:
Since we're all facing difficulties in some form or another, I won't focus too much on that -. Suffice it to say that my children deserve so much better than what Rock Bottom has had to offer. I'm trying my best to climb back out of here with the 3 of them, but it's proving to be a difficult climb for a chick with no upper body strength.

We'll begin with my 15 year old daughter, Eos. She was named by her father after the Greek goddess of the dawn & bringer of new beginnings. She is just as unique as her name, and has always been a very intense child. She has 2 settings: Off and FULL BLAST. Now that she's in her second year of high school, she's discovering who she is. As of now, she describes herself as pansexual, gender-fluid, and an introverted extrovert. I feel like what I am seeing professionally in regard to COVID is like some kind of alternate reality from the regular world everyone else seems to be living in. Or maybe the other way around, I don't know.
Professionally, I am seeing cases rise in a way I've never seen or could even imagine before. Our percent positivity is higher than ever. We are testing more people than ever at our mass testing site, 3-4x as many as our prior highs, and the majority are coming back positive. The hospitalization numbers are skyrocketing. There are very few, if any, ICU beds open in my city right now. I talk to the CMOs from the hospitals in my jurisdiction. They tell me they are in a dire situation. They've never been so overwhelmed. They currently have over 1,000 staff out. They are rescheduling elective procedures and closing their outpatient clinics 1 day a week to pull doctors and nurses.
But none of this matches what I am seeing when I leave the office. I go to the grocery store and maybe half of people are wearing masks. I drive past the bars downtown and it is business as usual. My friends ask me, what am i ding for New Years Eve? I go to our elected officials as the county epidemiologist and present them my data, try to be as clear to them as I can how serious this is, we need a mask mandate again. They cut me off and won't even add the topic to the agenda to vote on it.
The schools are on fire, at least metaphorically. Maybe if they were literally on fire more people would pay attention. The school district nurse calls me, in tears. Nearly every kid or staff they test is positive. They are almost out of antigen tests that were supposed to last them the entire semester but they've only been back in school a week. I have no more antigen tests to give them. They have so many staff out sick they need to close--but the kicker is my state passed a law last year that schools can only provide up to 40 hours a semester of virtual education. They cannot close or else they'd be in violation of this law.
Yesterday the Director of the CDC got on Good Morning America and said in regard to fully vaccinated people dying " the overwhelming number of death [sic] over 75% occurred in people who had at least 4 comorbidities, so really these are people who were unwell to begin with, and yes really encouraging news..." I have been working on a writing assignment today and just had to pause and vent to someone about how weird my job is. I write those articles you see all over the place that are like "10 ___ You Can't Live Without" or "Top 10 ___ to Buy This Year" (or whatever).
It's soul-sucking because none of what I write is really meant to be useful or helpful. It's all about generating clicks and how high you rank in a Google search. Nothing else matters.
To that end, one of my clients right now publishes lists and reviews for products in a particular industry. I've written full-length reviews, rankings, and comparisons, and my assignment today is a sort of "top ten ___ for 2022" situation. But here's the thing: I don't actually use any of these products.
I was doing some rewrites, and one of my notes from the editor included examples from our competitors where the text "gives the reader a reason to trust the author." And the reasons are all things like... "We tested all these products so we know what works best."
And then they tell me to match that sort of authority despite the fact that I can't lie and say I tested these products when I didn't. Instead, the editors have a guide of ways to "make it believable that you ACTUALLY tested the product (even if you didn't)" β that's a direct quote from them, btw.
The annoying part is that I want to be good at my job, so I'm doing my best to do all this stuff. But geez, it's a trip.
The more I do this sort of work, the less I trust anything I read on the internet. Beyond the obvious that anyone can lie, it's impossible not to think about the fact that so many product reviews and other supposedly informative articles were written by weirdos like me who don't really know what they're talking about.
Anyway, I realized this isn't much more than an "I hate my job" rant, but I do think it's almost comical how this mundane job toes the line of ethicality.
