For my fellow Beatles lovers -- Abbey Road Studios is turning 90 this year! When I was there in 2019, I was disappointed to learn that you couldn't go in. No tours to the public. But they have opened the studios to public tours this week only, for the first time, as part of their birthday celebration. I read about it this morning while sipping coffee from my red and white Abby Road Studios coffee mug. :-) If only I could be there...
I couldn't go in when I was there, but I could do this, and I was one happy tourist for it. π
TL;DR
How do I find a way to route the master track and the reference track (routed to EXT OUT, so that it bypasses the master) to a track that contains only SONARWORKS ID + CLA NX, in order to be able to make quick A-B for comparison?
Hello Redditors, I'm trying to master my song while:
1-Using SONARWOKS SOUND ID in conjunction with CLA NX Studio on headphones
PREVIOUS WORKFLOW: My previous workflow was this:
LEVEL 0: Master buss: Completely empty, except for Sonarworks sound ID and CLA NX (deactivated)
LEVEL 1 Reference track (obviously routed to the master bus by default)
LEVEL 1 Mix buss that receives all MY tracks (Vocals, Drum buss etc). Here is where I used to do my mastering . Reason: It's the best way I found to make quicks A-B between my song and the reference track, numerous times, (first with CLA NX, then without, with headphone1, headphone2, speaker1, speaker2, SoundID speaker simulator 1, etc)
Basically, the process needs to be fast because I go through many tests
ISSUE:
I realized that for some reason mastering on the mixbuss is not a good idea (probably a rookie mistake, but I'm trying to improve guys lol), because, the mix buss may peak at -1.0 but, for some reason there is extra sound that leak to masterbuss, making it reach +4.0, +5.0. Result: Distortion
So now :
NEW WORKFLOW...
I'm back to mastering on the master buss, with:
REFECENCE TRACK: Routed externally, so it bypasses the master track and it is not affected by the mastering plugins
MY SONG: Goes to the master buss, my mastering is done there
MY CURRENT ISSUE:
How do I find a way to route the master and the external track to a track that contains only SONARWORKS ID + CLA NX, in order to be able to make quick A-B?
CURRENT SOLUTION:
Duplicated plugins on master, and on refecence track. The problem is that CLAX has 3 presets, I have 4 speakers / headphones, and sonarworks has maybe 20 presets). Combine everything and consider that between every A-B I have to change the setting twice. It quickly becomes impractical
NOTE:
CLA NX does not have a systemwide option
Sonarworks ID has a "systemwide" mechanism but in my case it stutters so mch, no matter the buffer size, that the plugin becomes the only option
Thank you to anyone that will take the time to respond
I find it amusing and impressive that a group can peak so late. I knew that Abbey Road were among Beatles later albums, but had no idea that Rumours were that late.
The Wall, also featured in the global top list, is also the 11th studio album.
Are there more examples of an artists "masterpiece" being that late in their career?
Apparently it's for the 50th anniversary of Imagine and you can get a copy of the lyrics noted on Hilton notepaper and drawings by the man himself. Β£250 per set though.

Looking for someone in the US with this album, also interested in Frank, but that one is easier to find in the US than B2B. Looking for VG+ or better vinyl and don't really care about sleeve condition. Thanks and happy spinning y'all.
