A list of puns related to "Wassily Chair"
Hi Everyone,
This weekend I just snatched an authentic Wassily chair with white fabric. The chair is quite old and fabric needs to go and I am looking for an option to replace with leather strap with either:
- Find a fabric store and someone to stitch the parts together to make it look like the real deal
- Buy leather replacement and I will just have to disassemble the chair, put the new leather and reassemble it.
Any opinion on what could look the best ? I am based out of Toronto so if anyone has recommendation on that job please let me know!
Thanks for your time
Hi all,
I hope that you can help me identifying this chair.
I found this chair online and the seller claims that he got it from a wealthy banker 40 years ago...
There are no stamps on the chair, but it looks good so far. The only thing is that is has steel caps but they donβt seem to be seamless.
It could be an old Gavina Version? Because I refused another offer a week ago, also with non seamless steel caps and the seller swore that he consulted an expert and he said that some very old Gavina versions has non seemless steel caps to them.
What do you think ?

Hey, Iβm looking forward in buying a B3 Modell, seems to be from before 1995 and the seller claims that it is an certified rebuild. Does anyone in here have some point that I could look for when Iβm checking it if itβs legitimate? Would love to get some feedback.peace
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have a Wassily Chair and the seat strap has torn. Just wondering if anyone knows anywhere that sells replacement straps either in Australia or overseas? Been scrolling through google and found a couple of places, but wanted to see if there were more. Thanks
My father bought some serious mid-century furniture in the 1970s. One's an Eames lounger and ottoman that I already had fixed. Another is a Wassily chair that's in good shape except for a little rust on the chrome, and the armstraps have come un-sewn. Does anyone know how I can fix this or get it fixed? I grew up disliking this chair (so uncomfortable for kids!), but now I want to bring it back to life and use. My Mom trashed most of the good furniture after the divorce. . .
I found this awesome chair in my grandparents attic and want to try and dye it black to match my other furniture. I like the white color but on further inspection there are multiple dirt and water spots, which I was unable to remove with fabric cleaner. On the web I found replaceable leather straps but the cost is too expensive. I also don't own let alone operate an industrial sewing machine so reupholstering I think is out of the question.
Anyway, the straps are a thick canvas material so I figure a dye would work, but I don't know were to start.
I found this reproduction and while I don't exactly love the way he's done the weave, I like the style. Has anyone replaced the leather on theirs with some sort of woven cloth or anything similar?
Whenever I want to boot my SkyFactory 3, it takes an hour to load both the game and my world, but I guess it's because of my old non-gaming laptop. However, after trying to add OptiFine (and failing miserably) I noticed that during the loading time, it always gets stuck on computing the bounding boxes of either Wassily Chair Razzle or Wassily Chair Coral. Searching doesn't give me the mod, so if anyone can tell me so I can disable it, that would be a lot of help.
I put this chair up on the swap meet thread, but I thought I'd ask you all if you know what the best approach would be for a repair. It's a Gavina manufactured (pre Knoll) brown leather Wassily chair imported by Stending most likely sometime between the late 50s and 1968. The chrome and leather are in great condition besides one problem: the seam split on the left arm because a dumb kid jumped on it! http://imgur.com/a/2EEFd
I'm pretty bummed about it, but I'm wondering what the best looking/budget conscious approach would be to fixing the strap.
Thanks!
So, I traded my father-in-law some coleslaw for an original Wassily Chair that has been living in a basement for decades doing nothing but holding stacks of books.

The straps (originally white canvas) are a total mess and need to be replaced, but the frame is rock solid. The issue there is that the chromed steel is a bit varnished in spots and has plenty of small rust spots in others.
Does anyone out there have any proven recommendations for removing the rust and, hopefully, being able to completely restore this frame?
I've seen some videos out there of people cleaning chromed steel with diet coke and aluminum foil or steel wool. Is this legit? Seems like sorcery.
Any tips would be huge. Thanks!
Hi there,
I've got a Gavina manufactured brown leather Wassily chair (Marcel Breuers B3 design) that was imported by Stending most likely sometime between the late 50s and 1968 before Knoll bought out Gavina. The leather and chrome are in excellent original condition, however, the left arm strap has split at the front seam. I've already contacted someone who can do a quality split repair, but I figured I'd try my luck at selling it outright.
These are going for quite a lot these days, but in the spirit of keeping it local, I'd like to offer mine up for $300 cash. What would be even more ideal is a trade! I'm primarily looking for an MCM dresser or coffee table, but am open to hearing out other offers. Thanks!
